David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) is about to jump into the dark world of Stephen King again with Lost and Game of Thrones director Jack Bender. The two are teaming up to adapt King’s latest novel, The Institute, and bring it to life as a limited series.
I still haven’t had a chance to read this book yet as it was just released, but I’ll definitely get around to it soon! The story centers around “Luke Ellis, whose parents are murdered in the middle of the night by intruders. Luke wakes up at The Institute in a room that looks just like his own, except there’s no window. Outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents, such as telekinesis and telepathy, who got there the same way Luke did.”
Kelley and Bender previously worked on the series adaptation of Mr.

Donald Trump was still months away from being elected president when Stephen King began writing his new novel. But The Institute — out September 10th and centered on a 12-year-old boy stolen from his parents in the night and locked up in a mysterious facility — is likely to remind readers of certain immigration policies. “I can’t help but see similarity between what’s going on in The Institute and those pictures of kids in cages,” says King. “Sometimes fiction outpaces fact.”

WarnerMedia is diving full-bore into the streaming wars with HBO Max — a subscription service slated to bow next spring, stocked with HBO programming, original series, Warner Bros. movies and library content including the full 10-season run of “Friends.”
There’s no pricing info yet for HBO Max, nor is it fully clear how much content from HBO will be included in the subscription VOD package. The standalone HBO Now service currently costs $15 per month, so presumably HBO Max will cost more if it includes big chunks of what’s on HBO plus a slew of other content.
WarnerMedia says it expects HBO Max to have 10,000 hours of premium video content at launch. On Tuesday, it outlined some of the key shows that will be available.

Fangoria and Full Moon are producing a remake of the classic 1995 horror film Castle Freak. This movie is considered a cult classic that centered on a horrific creature lurking within the shadows of a castle.
The original film was produced Charles Band, who hired Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon to helm it. Band had a poster created for the film project that didn’t even have a script and told Gordon he could do whatever he wanted with it as long as it had a castle and a freak in the story.
So, Gordon ended up turning it into a loose horror film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Outsider and he cast Re-Animator stars Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton to star in it.

Clint Eastwood’s next film “Richard Jewell” is listed among the Georgia Film Commission’s projects set to shoot in the state this summer — despite the calls for a boycott of production in Georgia over the state’s new anti-abortion “heartbeat” law.

Country music star Trace Adkins continues to carve a niche for himself, along with several notches on his six-shooter, as an imposing presence in indie Westerns with his persuasive portrayal of a tarnished lawman in “The Outsider,” an unusually dark and brooding shoot ’em up capably directed by genre specialist Timothy Woodward Jr..

Stephen King will adapt his own book for J.J. Abrams' TV version of Lisey's Story, starring Julianne Moore.
J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot is filling out its growing list of TV projects for Apple's forthcoming streaming service. The latest of these to take shape is Lisey's Story, an adaptation of Stephen King's 2006 novel.
Apple has ordered eight episodes of the romantic horror series and, in a surprising move, King is planning to pen all the episodes himself. Joining King as executive producers on Lisey's Story will be Abrams himself and Julianne Moore, who has also now been confirmed to lead the cast.
This will be the first major TV role for Moore since she got her start on daytime soap opera As the World Turns, although she did briefly appear as Sarah Palin in Game Change, HBO's film about John McCain's 2008 presidential election campaign,...

When asked to tease “Ozark” Season 3 in one word, Jason Bateman first tried to punt to his executive producer. “Chris [Mundy] is the man to ask,” he said to a room full of Emmy voters Sunday night in Hollywood. As Mundy, the writer, creator, and E.P. of Netflix’s award-winning drama thought over his answer, biding time to avoid spoilers, Bateman came up with his own one-word tease: “Wendy,” he said.
Wendy is the Byrde family matriarch played by Laura Linney, who was also in attendance for the screening, panel, and party. Her role has only grown in prominence and importance over the first two seasons, as the former suburban family’s Missouri-based money laundering operation has expanded, so hearing she might have an even bigger part to play is expected, yet still exciting. Linney, a four-time Emmy winner and five-time nominee, merely laughed at the answer.

This article contains Captain Marvel spoilers...
Most of us went into Captain Marvel not knowing entirely what to expect from the McU's version of the villainous Skrulls, who have popped up time and again in Marvel's comics since the early 60s. The film's trailers more than hinted that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers would be pitted against the shape-shifting alien race, who had come to Earth in the 1990s for some purpose or other, but that was about the limit of what we were led to expect. Given any prior knowledge from the comics that the Skrulls were, well, bad guys, it made sense to presume that they'd join the roster of the McU's bad guys, too.
But Marvel decided to flip the notion on its head. Talos and...

Anonymous Content has brought in HBO veteran David Levine as President of Television. In the newly created position, Levine will oversee the company’s television division, developing and producing projects.
Levine recently exited HBO after a decade at the premium cable network, most recently as Evp and Co-Head of Drama, to return to producing.
Creating a leadership position dedicated solely to overseeing TV development and production reflects the rapid growth of that area for the company since it burst into the TV series scene with the 2014 True Detective, which was overseen by Levine at HBO. It was followed by Mr. Robot, Berlin Station, The Alienist, 13 Reasons Why, Maniac, Homecoming and I Am the Night and the upcoming Dickinson, Defending Jacob and Untitled Hilde Lysiak at Apple, and Catch-22 at Hulu.

Mile 81, a Stephen King novella about a killer car, is another movie project on the growing docket of adaptations of the author’s work.
One may be forced to feign surprise when hyping the news that another Stephen King literary work – this time novella Mile 81 – is getting a movie adaptation.
Indeed, the entertainment industry’s “Kingaissance” that, for the past few years, has been flooding studio backlogs across the film and television industries, can add yet another entry to the list of developing projects with a film adaptation of Mile 81, reports Deadline. The King story, which first arrived as a 2011 novella, was later released in the author's 2015 The Bazaar of Bad Dreams short story collection.
A simple plot description of Mile 81 might make one dismiss it as “the other Stephen King story about an evil car.” However, unlike Christine, the popular 1983 novel and same-year film about a malevolently possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury,...

If you’re a fan of Stephen King, you’ll be happy to learn that he has a new novel coming out later this year called The Institute. I’ve been a fan of King’s work since I first read The Eyes of The Dragon when I was a kid. That was the first book that I read of his, and as I got older I dove into his darker worlds.
King is more popular than ever right now with several of his stories currently in some form of development for film and TV. The guy is just an incredible storyteller, and this next book of his sounds like it’s going to be great! It’s said to be a mix of It and Firestarter.
The Institute is set to be released on September 10th, 2019 and this is the story description from StephenKing.com:
