The most-awaited Superman movie is here. James Gunn has put a unique spin on DC’s Man of Steel, and fans have already loved what they got to see in the promotional material. Gunn brings optimism and hope back to the character while fleshing out interesting characters based on the comics and the original Superman movie of 1978.
During a press conference, the DC CEO shared that the hero in his movie represented “the basic kindness of human beings” (via ScreenRant). He has brought an interesting mix of characters to his first film, played by an ensemble cast. Gunn’s cast consists mostly of up-and-coming actors in Hollywood.

The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards revealed its 2025 winners Sunday night (Feb. 23). The 15th annual ceremony was held at The Wiltern in L.A.’s Koreatown and honors the year’s best work in songs and scores for screen.
Sunday’s ceremony began with a video about January’s deadly wildfires, in which guild president Lindsay Wolfington lost her home. She thanked the community for rallying behind her during opening remarks with vp Heather Guibert.
The opening remarks didn’t shy away from addressing the Academy’s decision to “move away” from best original song live performances at the 2025 Oscars. “We are proud that our awards for best song written and or recorded for film and for television, acknowledges the collaborative efforts of the songwriters, the performers, and of course the music,” Guibert told the crowd.

Thanksgiving has long been a deadline of sorts for studios campaigning for Oscar nominations, because it offers the tempting proposition of a holiday weekend in which voters might have free time to catch up on movies. In past years, that meant a steady stream of screener DVDs arriving in voters’ mailboxes in the days before Thanksgiving – but now, with the Academy focusing on its members-only screening platform and placing restrictions on physical screeners, the push is to get new films into the Academy Screening Room before the holiday.

There's been a sudden resurgence of interest in Tomb Raider, the long-running video game series about international treasure hunter Lara Croft, who's kind of like a British Indianan Jones. Netflix recently premiered an animated series called Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Meanwhile, Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is working on a live-action Tomb Raider show, and it sounds like she could be closing in on her leading lady.
According to Deadline, Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton are testing for the role. Turner is best known for playing Sansa Stark on HBO's fantasy megahit Game of Thrones. She's done a fair amount of TV and film afterwards, most recently playing real-life diamond thief Joan Hannington in the crime drama Joan. Boynton, meanwhile, is best known for her role in films like Murder on the Orient Express and Bohemian Rhapsody.

If you dreamed up a movie defined by empty creative choice after empty creative choice that completely collapses in on itself, it would probably look a lot like “Daniela Forever.”
Some of this is by design as it’s a film that sets out to challenge the foundations of its own premise, which involves a man enrolling in a treatment that allows him to have lucid dreams. When he then uses this to create a fake version of his girlfriend who has recently passed away, it initially plays as a derivative ripoff of the enduring “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” only in reverse. This is only the beginning as it gets much worse from there, becoming like the woeful recent misfire “The Greatest Hits” crossed with a far less imaginative, more insufferable version of “Inception.”

The following contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy Season 4, now streaming on Netflix.
One of the things that has left The Umbrella Academy fans a bit jaded is the bittersweet ending. The Hargreeves siblings manage to reset the timeline to what it was meant to be. But it comes at a great cost, as there are key deaths that occur that many deem cold and heartless.
While this ending isn't happy at all, one of the Umbrellas did get an ending filled with hope and love after the warping of space and time. This was none other than Justin H. Min, the actor who plays Ben in The Umbrella Academy. It came in a Hulu romantic comedy that had sci-fi as its spine: The Greatest Hits.

Just a year ago, David Corenswet likely wasn't a name you'd heard. Now that the actor has been cast as Clark Kent in director James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" movie, however, you've probably been hearing his name quite a bit. Following an inauspicious end to the DC Extended Universe and an equally inauspicious end to Henry Cavill's run as the Man of Steel, Gunn announced that the newly-launched DC Studios' first film would be his "Superman" movie, led by none other than Corenswet.
This will no doubt prove to be Corenswet's breakthrough role. Prior to his casting in the inaugural DC Studios outing, the Juilliard alum had played a significant roles in several high-profile films and TV shows, from the projectionist in Ti West's A24 horror "Pearl" to aspiring actor Jack Castello in Ryan Murphy's "Hollywood" on Netflix. Superman actor David Corenswet injured his shoulder while filming a dream sequence for Lady in the Lake. Director and co-creator Alma Har'el explains how the injury occurred and how they used a body double to work around it. After the injury, the scene was completed by switching costumes and using different angles.
Superman actor David Corenswet got injured while filming the Apple TV+ mystery series Lady in the Lake. Based on the best-selling novel by Laura Lippman, and adapted for TV by Alma Harel, the seven-episode thriller stars Natalie Portman as a discontented housewife in 1960s Baltimore who investigates two separate murders. Corenswet heavily recurs as Allan Durst, who has a past with Portman's character. Durst appears in a pivotal dream sequence during Lady in the Lake episode 6, which Harel directed.

David Corenswet is about to become a massive movie star. The "Pearl" and "The Greatest Hits" actor is about to be Clark Kent in director James Gunn's "Superman," which is due to hit theaters next summer. We recently got a look at Corenswet suited up as Superman and it instantly took him to another level of stardom. Before he makes his mark on the DC Universe, he's starring in another big blockbuster in the form of "Twisters." Serving as a standalone sequel to the 1996 classic blockbuster "Twister," it's one of the biggest movies of summer 2024.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung ("Minari"), on paper, "Twisters" couldn't be more different than "Superman." One deals with exaggerated versions of natural disasters, while the other is a superhero movie centered on otherworldly beings. However, as Chung recently explained to The Hollywood Reporter, Corenswet did bring a little bit of Supes with him to this film's set.

Although David Corenswet as Superman under the supervision of James Gunn for the new Dcu wasn’t something that was entertained quite finely by fans at the beginning, things seem to be constantly changing for the actor. This is because some updates about what could be expected to be seen in this upcoming film have turned out to be incredibly promising for fans.

For instance, one exclusive sneak-peak from the sets of this upcoming film has hinted that Corenswet’s first superhero movie could recreate one famous scene that Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel chose to omit. And, notably enough, this scene was not only a part of the comics but was also one of the most iconic scenes in Christopher Reeve’s superhero movie from 1978!

Superman Movie Casting Comparison Photo Shows Just How Spot On Every Live-Action Film Actor Has Been
Superman actors are consistently praised for embodying the character's duality and relatability. David Corenswet's casting as Superman is a nod to past successful castings in the franchise. The upcoming Superman film has generated optimism with a passionate creative team and Corenswet's potential.
A recent Tweet showed that the upcoming Superman film will continue a standard for the actor playing the iconic character. As a character, Superman mixed strength, charisma, and kindness with a bumbling everyman alter-ego, and every Superman actor had to convey these aspects to make the character believable in live action. There have been many iterations of Superman over the years, with each actor bringing something different. Christopher Reeve set the bar when he appeared in 1979s Superman and gave a performance that captured Clark Kents comedic nervous energy while embodying Kal-Els striking physicality and humanity.

Searchlight Pictures' The Greatest Hits puts a spin on time travel movies by having music essentially serving as a "time machine" for Lucy Boynton's character. Joined by co-star Justin H. Min, Boynton commented on the film's use of time travel with music and how that makes a great deal of sense as something everybody can relate to.
When asked by Cbr's Kevin Polowy what it was about The Greatest Hits that spoke to her, Boynton said, "I think the way music is used in this film, because I think I realize I share such a similar relationship with music as Harriet does, and I think that's pretty universal, this utilization of it as like a time machine to kind of whip you back to the person who introduced you to the song, or the time that you were listening to it the most."

Crute recalled how Corenswet gives off "big brother vibes" with how much of a "light" he is on the set. It was also noted how Corenswet was always offering ideas on how to improve scenes, and Crute learned a lot from observing him at work. It has Crute feeling confident that Corenswet will continue to be a leading man for many more projects to come after starring in Superman.

Music can transport you. When you hear a song that brings back memories, it can be an exceptionally moving experience. However, in the new feature The Greatest Hits, those songs from the past can quite literally move you to another place and time. Written and directed by Ned Benson, the film cleverly intermingles sci-fi elements such as time travel, in a beautifully grounded way. It also features an excellent lead performance from Lucy Boynton, as well as the terrific Justin H. Min, David Corenswet, and Austin Crute. The story is original, refreshing, and will likely connect to anybody out there that loves music. It certainly did with me.
The last time I spoke with Lucy Boynton, it was for another project that had a ton of music. That would be Bohemian Rhapsody. Here, she shines as a woman who desperately attempts to change the past. Both Justin H. Min and Ms.

The Greatest Hits has the same premise as Press Play, with time travel & romantic fantasy elements. The Greatest Hits focuses more on grief & relationships, while Press Play centers on preventing death. The pacing of The Greatest Hits is better than Press Play, giving more substance & character development.
The Greatest Hits has an interesting premise of time travel, drama, and music, which was already done two years earlier – but The Greatest Hits did it better. Time travel is one of the most popular themes in film, and it has been used in pretty much every genre at some point. Time travel is also quite tricky as it poses big questions about its use and consequences, which more often than not only create confusion among the audience. Time travel has often been seen in romantic movies, and the latest example is The Greatest Hits.

Actor David Corenswet landed one of the biggest roles of the Dcu as the star of the upcoming movie Superman. The major casting follows a previous attempt to work with writer-director James Gunn for a previous project set in the MCU that didn't work out.
On the social media platform Threads, James Gunn was asked by a fan about the rumor that David Corenswet auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a part that ultimately went to Will Poulter. Gunn said he verified this rumor himself by asking Corenswet about it, though he also admitted that he had no memory of the actor's audition. The director also shared what will be different with Superman's flying compared to what was seen by Adam Warlock in the MCU.

It’s been half a decade since the directorial debut of Hannah Marks, yet each film she’s made has boasted the same vitality and youthful fervor of a new voice on the scene. Her first adaptation and most ambitious project yet, Turtles All the Way Down, benefits from her ability to tap into the zeitgeist of today’s youth, allowing it to rise above its conventions.
Adapted from John Green’s acclaimed young adult novel of the same name, Turtles All the Way Down follows a teen girl with big dreams and aspirations as she investigates the mystery of a fugitive billionaire. In my review of The Greatest Hits, the new sci-fi romance from The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby writer/director Ned Benson, I mention that it opens with a montage of two young lovers “generally doing things that young, hip couples do in LA.” So, as someone from Los Angeles, I couldn’t help but pick the brains of Benson and stars Lucy Boynton and Justin H. Because The Greatest Hits is a movie about the power of music to literally transport protagonist Harriet (Boynton) back in time, we also talked about music. Her mission takes an unexpected turn when she meets David (Justin H. Min) at a group counseling session. They have an instant attraction. Harriet must choose to move on with David or continue to live in the past.
Min "feels incredible" when questioned about his heartthrob status as a romantic lead. He doesn't "really think about that kind of stuff" but loves "that audiences do feel pulled to both guys." No one here is a "hero" or "villain." Min thinks The Greatest Hits "allows for both to feel loved" and doesn't sway the audience "very easily towards one or the other.
