Image
On September 17, 2024, things took a very dark turn for Rosie O’Donnell‘s oldest daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell. Chelsea was arrested and charged with a slew of heartbreaking and inappropriate crimes. This news is a bit unexpected for TV lovers who’ve spent years watching Rosie on different beloved shows.

Rosie led the way on The Rosie O’Donnell Show from 1996 until 2002. She also starred on The Rosie Show from 2011 until 2012. Rosie consistently shared her insights and opinions on The View as a talk show host from 2006 until 2007. But Rosie’s television history is now being overshadowed based on the crimes of her daughter. These are the details about why Chelsea got arrested.

Why Was Chelsea O’Donnell Arrested?

According to In Touch Weekly, Chelsea‘s cause for arrest was more serious than anyone might’ve guessed. She was charged with four felony accounts of child neglect, maintaining a drug trafficking place, the possession of Thc,...

Rosie O'Donnell Says She Was "Hurt" By Ellen DeGeneres' Past Comments About Her
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie O'Donnell is clearing the air about her strained relationship with Ellen DeGeneres. During the Sept. 15 episode of Watch What Happens Live, the American Gigolo actress—who hosted The Rosie O'Donnell Show from 1996 to 2002 and later fronted The Rosie Show before it got canceled in 2012 after one season due to low ratings—discussed why she never appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and why she and Ellen are not close friends today. "After my show went off the air, and hers was coming on the air, Larry King was on with Ellen and he said, 'Whatever happened to Rosie O'Donnell? Her show went down the tubes. Kat Von D is celebrating a milestone.

The tattoo artist, 35, took to Instagram on Friday to commemorate a special anniversary. “Today I celebrate 10 years of sobriety,” she wrote, along with a black heart emoji.

Von D has been open about her previous struggle with substance abuse, telling an L.A. radio show in 2016 that people make mistakes but can always redeem themselves when talking of former boyfriend Jessie James.

“I am a believer that we’re all human and we’re all capable of making mistakes,” she said. “I think if I were to be crucified for my drug addiction three years ago now,...

Is Queen Latifah Obligated To Discuss Her Private Life On Her New Show?
Queen Latifah
Queen Latifah's refusal to address long-standing rumors about her private life on her highly-anticipated new talk show was debated at length on The Rubin Report this week.

Host Dave Rubin was joined by YouTube's Shanna Malcolm and SiriusXM's Sam Roberts to discuss the issue at length.

Calling Queen Latifah's decision "highly problematic," Malcolm noted, "It's very different when you start out as an Oprah WInfrey, who started out as a reporter...where it's a little bit more detached. [Your guests] should know you, and feel like they can talk to you."

Roberts added, "Why don't we learn from history: it drove Rosie [O'Donnell] insane -- literally insane -- that she had to go on and pretend to be in love with Tom Cruise...and not be herself on The Rosie Show ... People like it when people are being themselves."

Madonna Helped Rosie O'Donnell Land Her Role In 'Sleepless In Seattle?'
Rosie O'Donnell
On his Wnyc radio show, "Here's the Thing," Alec Baldwin talks to great guests such as Elaine Stritch and Kristen Wiig, and this week he invited Rosie O'Donnell into the studio to discuss everything from her days as a stand up comedian to her life as a newlywed and new mom.

Since her lastest talk show, "The Rosie Show" ended on Own last year, O'Donnell has been keeping a low profile professionally, but personally she married her second wife, Michelle Rounds, who she adopted a baby with.

Among the many interesting tidbits from the interview, O'Donnell divulges how Nora Ephron's son was one of the reasons she was cast in "Sleepless in Seattle":

"That night at dinner, she [Ephron] said 'Oh, I interviewed this girl today, her name is Rosie O'Donnell.' Her son Jacob, who was 10 at the time, who was a Madonna freak, was like, 'Oh my God,...

By Carson Blackwelder

Oprah Winfrey‘s cable network Own (the Oprah Winfrey Network) is making its first venture into scripted TV.

The network has entered into a partnership with director, writer, producer and actor Tyler Perry, who is best known for his over-the-top portrayal of the character Madea in several films, to make it the place for his shows and projects. Part of the deal requires that Perry produce two new scripted series for Own to premiere in mid-2013.

“I have been looking forward to the day when we would be in the position to enter the world of scripted television,” Winfrey says. “We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler, who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series. He has an incredible ability to illuminate life stories and characters in his unique voice and inspires and encourages people all over the world.

Oprah Winfrey Named Highest-Paid Celebrity—but No. 2 Is a Surprise
Oprah Winfrey at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Oprah Winfrey may have retired her namesake talk show for good in 2011, but she's still rollin' in the dough as the titular head of her own TV network. The daytime legend has topped Forbes' list of the highest-paid celebrities for the fourth year in a row with $165 million earned between May 2011 and May 2012. The news comes even after Own, her fledgling eponymous cable channel, has faced disappointing ratings. That prompted her to rethink Own's lineup—like deciding to pull the plug on The Rosie Show in March. Winfrey later admitted to pal Gayle King on CBS' The Early Show, "If I were writing a book about [running a network], I could call the book 101...

Rosie O'Donnell Supports Oprah Winfrey At School Fundraiser
Oprah Winfrey at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Comedienne Rosie O'Donnell proved she had no hard feelings towards her former TV boss Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday night after joining the media mogul at a New York fundraiser for her South African girls school.

The Rosie Show was axed from Winfrey's Own network in March after just one season on air and the cancellation was rumoured to have caused a rift between the two stars.

But O'Donnell showed she had nothing but love for Winfrey by turning up to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls benefit at the Jazz at Lincoln Center venue this week.

Cindi Berger, O'Donnell's representative, tells the New York Daily News, "They have an excellent relationship. It was a very special night and a wonderful time."

The event featured a performance by the first class of graduates from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg.

Other guests to show their support for Winfrey's cause included singer Mary J. Blige, actress Goldie Hawn, model Iman and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.

Winfrey opened the school in 2007 to provide education for disadvantaged females.

Marianne Schnall: Behind-the-Scenes At Oprah's Lifeclass With Tony Robbins And Deepak Chopra
Oprah Winfrey in The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986)
It's not every day Radio City Music Hall temporarily closes down its men's bathroom. But that's exactly what happened when Oprah Winfrey decided to film two episodes of her Lifeclass series at the famous theater in New York City. My adventure started when I got the email from the Own team inviting me to attend the tapings of Oprah's Lifeclass: The Tour featuring two charismatic guest teachers -- spiritual wise man Deepak Chopra, who taught the afternoon show about tapping into your spiritual side (which will air on Own on April 23) and charismatic life coach Tony Robbins, who taught the evening live show about living fearlessly.

When I first got to the theater, I was escorted backstage, downstairs to the brightly lit Rockettes dressing room, to convene with about ten other journalists, and then taken into a small room next door for an intimate meet-and-greet with Tony Robbins. We...

Oprah's Ratings Challenged Own Gets New Shows
Oprah Winfrey in The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986)
Oprah Winfrey -- who recently acknowledged that early mistakes led to sagging ratings at her Own network -- is hoping that a slate of new shows will boost the numbers and breath new life into the cable channel.

Oprah on Difficulties and Mistakes at Own

The network announced Thursday that among the new shows ordered for its prime time lineup are a game show in which people answer are given a quiz to win prize money (Are You Normal, America?), a docu-series about a couple with sextuplets (Six Little McGhees) and a talk show hosted by self-help expert Iyanla Vanzant (Iyanla Fix My Life).

Own Cancels The Rosie Show

In addition there is Elura and Michele Take Staten Island -- in which two former prosecutors "tell it like it is" -- and Married to the Army: Alaska, an unscripted series about the wives of deployed soldiers living in Alaska.

Rosie O'Donnell Selling Miami Beach Mansion for $19.5 Million
The Rosie Show (2011)
The Rosie Show isn't the only thing ending—so is Rosie O'Donnell's tenure as a homeowner in Miami Beach. On the same day as the final episode of her Own talk show (today), the New York-bound Emmy winner listed her lavish spread on tony Star Island Drive for $19.5 million. Fair enough. It's pretty fancy. O'Donnell purchased the 11,000-square-foot waterfront home on 1.11 acres of land for $6.75 million back in 1999, when she and ex-wife (then partner) Kelli Carpenter had yet to welcome their fourth child. The house boasts six bedroom and five baths, plus there are two separate guest homes on the property, according to the South Beach Real Estate Blog. Built in...

Watch: Stephen Baldwin Clarifies His Stance On Gay Marriage To Rosie O'Donnell
Actor Stephen Baldwin at THE FLYBOYS premiere.
Actor Stephen Baldwin took to "The Rosie Show" in an effort to clarify his stance on same-sex marriage.

Baldwin, who is known for his evangelical Christian faith, spoke out earlier this month in defense of "Growing Pains" star Kirk Cameron, whose controversial remarks on homosexuality and same-sex marriage ignited a media firestorm.

"It's not what you say, it's how you say it,” Baldwin explained to host Rosie O'Donnell while noting that she was one of the gay people in his life that he “loved and admired." He then added, "I have never said the gay community doesn't have any rights."

When O'Donnell pressed Baldwin on whether or not lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (Lgbt) people should have the right to marry, the actor replied, "Yes -- meaning, in their world."

Interrupted O'Donnell, "Well, not in your church. Just legally in a union.”

“Absolutely,” Baldwin noted.

O'Donnell In Talks To Return To Broadway
Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Quvenzhané Wallis in Annie (2014)
Comedienne Rosie O'Donnell is bouncing back following the cancellation of her U.S. chat show - she's in talks to head to Broadway for Will Smith's upcoming revival of Annie.

The Rosie Show was recently axed by bosses at Oprah Winfrey's Own network after just one season, but the actress is refusing to dwell on the news and is now planning to return to the New York stage.

According to The Daily Beast, O'Donnell has met with show producers about taking on the part of Miss Hannigan in the forthcoming musical, which will star the Men In Black actor's daughter, Willow Smith, as the titular orphan.

O'Donnell took to Twitter.com earlier this week (begs19Mar12) to address her talk show's cancellation and reveal her next career move.

She tweeted, "That's showbiz and I am happy to have had the chance and now to be back home in ny - maybe broadway!"

If the funnywoman is cast in Annie, she will be no stranger to the role - she previously played the boozed-up headmaster of the orphanage in a cruise ship production of the hit musical for her R Family Vacations company.

Oscar-winning British actress-turned-screenwriter Emma Thompson has been hired to rework the classic Annie script, while rap superstar Jay-z is helping to score the production.

O'Donnell last appeared on Broadway in a 2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof and she starred in the Off-Broadway play Love, Loss, and What I Wore in 2009.

The Rosie Show: O'Donnell Talks About TV Show Cancellation
Some people might be upset that The Rosie Show was cancelled by Oprah Winfrey but Rosie O'Donnell isn't one of them. From her perspective, Winfrey and Own did the sensible thing by dropping her low-rated talk show.

O'Donnell recently spoke about the cancellation and was very philosophical about it. She said:

"Some viewers have been saying that it wasn't fair. It was fair. Listen, Oprah gave me an amazing shot at doing this. She really did. She put me back on TV. She believed in me. I didn't even know if I could do it again, truthfully. And she said, 'I think you can.' And then I said, 'I think I can too.'"

"And off I came here to Chicago, with the best of intentions, trying, really, to do, you know, what I thought would be kind of easy for...

O'Donnell Celebrates 50th Birthday With Tyson
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie O'Donnell put news of her axed talk show aside on Monday night to celebrate her 50th birthday with boxer Mike Tyson.

The Rosie Show on Oprah Winfrey's Own network has been cancelled after just one season as bosses at the struggling channel put restructuring plans in place.

However, O'Donnell refused to let her career woes put a dampener on her birthday and she celebrated in style in Chicago, Illinois.

The star and her fiancee Michelle Rounds partied at the city's Paris Club alongside 50 other women who were also turning 50, and the presenter was stunned when Tyson turned up to help her cut her cake after appearing on her talkshow earlier in the day.

The party will be aired as part of Wednesday's episode of O'Donnell's show.

The Rosie Show: Donald Trump Applauds Cancellation
Surprise, surprise. Donald Trump is cheering the decision to cancel the TV show of his longtime enemy, Rosie O'Donnell. In a phone interview on Fox and Friends, Trump gave his take on the recent Own cancellation of The Rosie Show after five months on the air.

She had a variety show, it failed. I mean, I just don't understand now, somebody else, some moron will come and hire her again to do something else but that will fail. The Rosie Show Canceled By Oprah Winfrey's Own Network
Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Rosie O'Donnell's daily talk show has been canceled after only five months, it was announced Friday. The Rosie Show, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network (Own), suffered poor ratings, multiple format changes, staff upsets, and other various problems that contributed to its failure. The Daily Beast reported Monday that Winfrey herself made the decision to give the show the axe, which comes as a shock considering the media mogul was O'Donnell's biggest cheerleader. Winfrey reportedly met with O'Donnell before making her final decision, and witnesses of the meeting described it as "awkward." Speculation of the show's dismal performance began to grow when O'Donnell decided to scrap her entire format and model it more closely after Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. There were also persistent rumors that the talk show host had nasty clashes with her staff, although one employee dismissed those claims.

The latter is, of course, totally not happening anymore. The last episode of the show will air March 30. Friday’s episode, which aired right before the cancellation was announced, featured ...

The Quick Demise Of Rosie O’Donnell’s Own Talk Show: What Went Wrong?
The stations groups that passed on a daytime syndicated talk show Rosie O’Donnell was shopping two years ago are probably having a “we told you so” moment today as O’Donnell’s daytime talk show on Own: Oprah Winfrey Network got the ax after five low-rated months on the air. Related: Own Cancels Rosie O’Donnell’s Talk Show Own went for broke with the launch of The Rosie Show, whose October premiere, along with that of Oprah’s Lifeclass, were broadcast on five Discovery networks. The struggling and money-losing Own spent some $10 million to market the two shows, whose debut was touted as an unofficial Own relaunch. That $10 million went where the previous $250 million+ in investment from Discovery went — down the drain. After an Ok start with 500,000 viewers tuning in to the premiere, Rosie quickly lost more than half of that to average under 200,000 viewers for most of its run,...

Oprah Winfrey at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
As Oprah Winfrey's channel Own struggled during its first year, executives pointed to two bright lights on the horizon: an interview series hosted by Winfrey herself, and a Rosie O'Donnell talk show. The former has had some occasional spikes of media buzz, most recently when Winfrey interviewed the family of Whitney Houston, but the latter never quite caught on, despite near-monthly monthly revamps. And so it is that today, Own announced that the ax would fall on The Rosie Show. "It was a great year for me — I wish the show was able to attract more viewers — but it did not," O'Donnell said in a statement. "So I am headed back to my home in New York — with gratitude.
