There are many amazing cult TV shows that only aired for one season, and Bunheads should be included among them.

Misty Copeland, star of the American Ballet Theatre, has signed with Range Media Partners for representation in all areas.

Copeland joined the New York City ballet company in 2000 and in 2015 was promoted to principal dancer — a first for an African-American woman in Abt’s 75 year-old history. Signing with Range Media Partners comes as Copeland continues a transition from the ballet stage to the big screen.

Somehow, I managed to miss the Younger train when it originally aired on television.

Maybe I was under a rock, or it wasn’t something that immediately grabbed my attention in its heyday. It’s a pity since Sutton Foster had my heart during the tragically canceled Bunheads.

Anyway, Younger has been streaming on Netflix, and all it took was one graphic of Hilary Duff smiling and a dreary afternoon for me to press play.

It’s funny, quirky, and reminds me of a time when people genuinely thought we Millennials were the “It” thing and chased after our interest, taste, and dollar was actually a priority.

I must’ve been under a rock on that front, too, because all I can ever remember is a thousand different think-pieces about how we somehow ruined everything, but that’s a discussion for another day.

The Last of Us Season...

While Younger was just a little TV series that started on TV Land, it blew up to become hugely popular thanks to the pretty stellar Younger cast. Foster stars as Liza Miller, a 40-year-old divorcee who realizes she can pass off as a 20-something woman and lies about her age to get a job in the publishing industry. She then makes new friends but has to keep lying about her age to protect her job. Some actors have been in the business for decades, and some have lengthy resumes in the theater world.

Hilary Duff may have been the most recognizable name in the cast. Still, fans might recognize other cast members from projects they have been in, with Foster in the lead role and names like Debi Mazar and Miriam Shor in key supporting roles. Also starring Hilary Duff and Nico Tortorella, this show had the laughs, the acting chops, and the fashion sense to remain successful. It ended up airing on TV Land, Paramount+, and Hulu before finally ending things.

After Younger wrapped up after seven successful seasons, fans missed seeing what adventures Liza is having. While there was a Kelsey spin-off series in the works starring Hilary Duff with Darren Star still in control, that all ended when Duff chose to move on to star in the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, How I Met Your Father.

Rather than bringing back Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life season 2, I’d much rather see a revival of an underrated Amy Sherman-Palladino show from 2012, which was canceled after one season. As a diehard Gilmore Girls fan, I, like many others, wanted nothing more than to go back to Stars Hollow and see the characters I love. Unfortunately, I am one of the many fans who thought the revival was bad and look to theories about A Year in the Life to make it more enjoyable.

The humor was outdated, the character growth was minimal, and the "thirty-something gang" felt like a mean-spirited caricature of the Millennial generation. Despite how enjoyable the 2024 Gilmore Girls reunion is in the popular Walmart commercial, I am not confident that a second season of Ayitl would fix the issues. The two-time Tony-winning actress walked the red carpet with co-star Michael Urie at the opening night performance of Once Upon a Mattress on Monday night (August 12) at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.

The production, a new adaptation by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Amy Sherman-Palladino, moves to Broadway after a two-week run at New York City Center’s Encores this past winter. The musical, directed by Lear deBessonet, will play the Hudson Theatre starting July 31, with an opening night set for Aug. 12.

The Broadway limited engagement will run through Nov. 30, before it moves to Los Angeles for a four-week run at the Center Theatre Groups’ Ahmanson Theatre starting Dec. 10.

With “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” wrapping up its fifth and final season, creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have landed a two-season order for a new ballet drama at Prime Video, the streamer announced Wednesday.

The New York City and Paris-set series, titled “Étoile,” centers on “the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars,” according to the official logline.

Sherman-Palladino and Palladino are set to write, direct, and executive produce while stars attached to the project include “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s” Luke Kirby and Gideon Glick, “Call My Agent!’s” Camille Cottin, “Outlander’s” Simon Callow, “The Innocent’s” Lou de Laâge and “West Side Story’s” David Alvarez.

Exclusive: Succession‘s Alan Ruck is the latest addition to the cast of Amazon Studios’ film The Burial, which is currently in production. He joins an ensemble that also includes Jamie Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, Jurnee Smollett, Mamoudou Athie, Bill Camp, Dorian Missick, Pamela Reed, Amanda Warren and Jim Klock.

The film from director Maggie Betts is based on the New Yorker article by Jonathan Harr. It follows a charismatic personal injury lawyer famous for his impressive track record and loudly unconventional approach who decides to help a funeral home owner save his family business from a predatory corporate behemoth. In a move to bring emotional resonance to a dry contract law case, the lawyer digs up an unexpected and complex web of race, power and oppression that forces everyone to examine long-buried prejudices they didn’t know they had.

I started watching "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" when it first debuted for two reasons: one, I grew up watching creator and showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino's other shows, "Gilmore Girls" and "Bunheads"; and two, the fabulous vintage fashion. As "Maisel" nears the end of its fourth (and penultimate) season, I'm seeing more similarities than ever between it and "Gilmore Girls" - in particular, the one pitfall that made the final years of "Gilmore" so disappointing to watch.

One of the delights of any Sherman-Palladino show is its deliciously quirky, borderline bizarre cadre of minor characters, set pieces, and side plots. However, with that delight comes one of the major pitfalls of an Amy Sherman-Palladino show: the longer it goes on, the more screen time gets eaten up by these flights of fancy that were more enjoyable in small doses. Kelly Bishop will be channeling a heightened version of her frosty Gilmore Girls matriarch when she pops into The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

In describing the actress’ guest stint in the Prime Video hit’s upcoming fourth season (the first two episodes of which drop this Friday), exec producer Daniel Palladino — who, of course, worked with Bishop on Gilmore — teased that her character is Emily Gilmore “on steroids.”

Brooke Bowman has been promoted to executive vice president of drama development and programming at Fox Entertainment.

She succeeds Charlie Andrews in the role, with Andrews exiting the company. The parting with Andrews is said to be on good terms, with his contract simply coming to an end.

Bowman was previously senior vice president in the Fox drama department. She will now report directly to Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment. She will be based in Los Angeles.

“Brooke has been an important and trusted part of our team, playing an invaluable role in helping shape and implement our blueprint to expand and diversify Fox’s slate,” said Thorn. “Supremely creative, well-respected across town and fearless in taking big swings, she is primed to take over the reins; and I’m excited to have her alongside as we steer our drama strategy well into the future.”

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is adding “Gilmore Girls” star Kelly Bishop to its cast for Season 4.

Bishop will appear in Season 4 of the critically-acclaimed Amazon series in a guest starring role, though the exact nature of what that role will be are being kept under wraps.

The role reunites Bishop with “Maisel” team Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, who all previously worked together on “Gilmore Girls” as well as the short-lived sitcom “Bunheads.” Bishop is now the second “Gilmore Girls” alum to join Season 4, with Milo Ventimiglia also set to appear in a guest role. Production is currently underway on the new season in New York City.

Bishop is perhaps best known for her role as family matriarch Emily Gilmore in “Gilmore Girls,” a role she reprised in the Netflix series “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” in 2016. She is also known for her role in the beloved film “Dirty Dancing.

The upcoming fourth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel now looks even more like a mini Gilmore Girls reunion as Kelly Bishop joins the cast.

Amazon, shortly after revealing Gilmore Girls alum Milo Ventimiglia’s casting, shared that Bishop is set to guest star in the upcoming season. Bishop’s guest star role reunites her with creator and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino with whom she previously collaborated with for both Gilmore Girls and Bunheads. The streamer did not reveal any character details.

From the Palladinos The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stars Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak and Caroline Aaron.

The series has racked up 20 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy series, three Golden Globes including Best TV Series—Comedy, six Critics Choice Awards including Best Comedy Series, two PGA Awards, a WGA Award, and a Peabody Award. Season four is currently in production in New York City.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 is beginning to look like a stealth Gilmore Girls revival — not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Allying two of the biggest powerhouses in high-end Spanish-language drama series, Movistar Plus and The Mediapro Studio have joined forces to produce “Paraíso,” a banner 2021 Spanish series and determined push into Young Adult entertainment.

Exclusive: Elizabeth Boykewich, a 16-year Freeform/ABC Family veteran, has departed the Disney cable network where she most recently served as SVP, Casting and Talent.

Boykewich is the latest senior executive to depart Freeform following the regime change at the network last May when Tara Duncan was named President. Lauren Corao stepped down as EVP, Original Programming and Development in October; Lynn Barrie departed as SVP Original Programming and Development last month.

The anthology series from Steven Soderbergh will return for Season 3 on May 2, after the first two episodes premiered today at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

Led by “The Affair” and “Bunheads” alum Julia Goldani Telles, the 10-episode new season is set within the London tech scene, telling the story of a neuroscience major who begins to explore the transactional world of The Girlfriend Experience. Per Starz, “Iris quickly learns that her client sessions provide her with a compelling edge in the tech world and vice versa. She then begins to question whether her actions are driven by free will, or something else altogether, and heads down a deep path of exploration.”

Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide distribution rights to “Looks That Kill,” a black comedy starring “13 Reasons Why” actor Brandon Flynn.

Produced by American High, the film stars Flynn, Julia Goldani Telles, Ki Hong Lee (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), and Annie Mumolo.

The project comes from debut writer-director Kellen Moore, and will be available for digital purchase on June 19.

The Nantucket Film Festival announced on Monday that writers, producers and directors Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino will be honored with Variety’s Creative Impact in Television Award at the 25th anniversary event.

Sherman-Palladino is the creator of popular television series “Gilmore Girls,” “Bunheads” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” She has received five Emmys for her work on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and is the first person in history to win both in the comedy writing and directing categories in the same year at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
