Long-awaited movies such as Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2 arrived well past their freshness date, and audiences weren't that interested. With Joe Wright’s Pan flying into theaters this October, Hollywood may be about to embark on a new romance with the Boy Who Never Grew Up, and Disney is already getting ahead of the crowd with a live-action Tinker Bell spinoff, currently titled Tink. Today brings news that, to help them bring Peter Pan’s pint-sized sidekick to the big screen, the studio is calling on none other than Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon to spread some fairy dust.

Witherspoon is attached to both star in and produce the pic, which is being developed as a new take on a beloved character in the same vein as Disney’s mega-grossing Maleficent (though with a considerably smaller budget, according to reports). For whatever reason, 20th Century Fox were reluctant to invest in the story or its heavy use of CGI and lodged the flick into a permanent hiatus.

Fox 2000 has brought on Randi Mayem Singer (Mrs. Doubtfire) to write the screenplay for Alvin and the Chipmunks 4, which has already been set for release on December 16, 2016.

No plot details have been released at this stage, and it isn't known if any of the cast members from 2007's Alvin and the Chipmunks, 2009's Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel or 2011's Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked will return for this follow-up. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney voiced the Chipmunks in all three movies, with Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate voicing the Chippettes in Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked.

Paul Feig, the director behind Bridesmaids, is currently in talks to helm an all-female reboot of classic comedy feature Ghostbusters.

All-Female 'Ghostbusters' Sequel

Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot won’t be a Ghostbusters 3, nor will it be a remake of the original. Instead, the script will be written from scratch with comedic actresses playing the ghostbusters, reported Variety.

Currently, Feig is in talks with Sony, but the project hasn’t moved forward into formal negotiations.

Feig, who earned raves with female-driven comedies Bridesmaids and The Heat, is teaming up with Melissa McCarthy for a third time in Spy, which is scheduled for release next Memorial Day. Feig is also slated to direct comedy Wish List with Reese Witherspoon in the lead role.

Paul Feig will be continuing his recent trend of directing comedies led by a female cast with Susan Cooper. His 2011 female-led feature, Bridesmaids, was a mega success, bringing in $288 million. That film will be followed by The Heat later this month. After bridal parties and buddy cops, Feig’s new focus will be on a female spy who is said to be reminiscent of James Bond.

While not much can be said of the plot, Feig will be taking a more realistic approach, unlike other spy comedies such as Austin Powers or Johnny English. Similar to The Heat, two characters will lead the story. The possibility of creating a franchise is also being discussed.

Paul Feig was able to round up a hilarious group of women for his comedy Bridesmaids and has Reese Witherspoon headlining his next film Wish List.  His casting fortune continued last night when Variety reported Feig and 20th Century Fox got Academy award winner Sandra Bullock and Bridesmaids standout Melissa McCarthy signed on to star in his future, currently untitled buddy cop movie.  Apparently they had to pull out all the stops to land this trio too due to scheduling, dollar signs, etc.

According to Vulture, "Spider-Man" director Marc Webb got some writing assistance from "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig with one of the film's scenes.

Feig attended Tribeca Film Festival last night for the "Take This Waltz" premiere and gushed about his connection with Webb.

"I'm looking forward to 'The Amazing Spider-Man,'" he explained. "[Webb]'s a great guy, he invited me on set, and I did a little bit of writing for that movie, for one of the high school scenes, so I'm excited."

Feig's got some serious experience with writing about the woes of adolescence, having created the short-lived but beloved television show "Freaks and Geeks," about a group of teens dealing with the usual dilemmas — factions, bullying, alcohol and drugs, to name a few.

We’re still a little cautious about the premise, but we’re heartened to see that Bridesmaids' Paul Feig is now in negotiations to direct it. Wish List would see Witherspoon as a woman who made a set of wishes when she was young. Now, as a driven career type with no real memory of what she asked for, she finds the wishes suddenly coming true and causing havoc in her life. But, we would hazard a guess, possibly also offering important life lessons.The script, which has been lurking around the studios since 2001 (when it was originally conceived with a male lead character), has been through the hands of Randi Mayem Singer, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.

Some of you may remember Disney's "Wish List" project. It was reported last August that Reese Witherspoon had signed on to star in the gig; a comedy about an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. None of the wishes come true because the coins never touch the bottom of the well, but 25 years later, they're dislodged, and now this ambitious career woman has to deal with the consequences of ten wishes made as a child that are coming to pass.

I have a hard time watching Reese Witherspoon movies. It's not because she picks terrible projects or because she's a bad actress - in fact, it's actually the opposite. We heard a few months back in the summer that Reese Witherspoon had come aboard Disney’s Wish List, leading the film as a career-driven woman whose childhood dreams are granted twenty-five years late.

THR now report that Disney are moving ahead nicely with the project, hiring the Emmy-winning writing team of Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to pen the script.

The film will see,

“an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. They don’t come true because her coin never reached the bottom and eventually she loses her inner child and becomes a full grown and ambitious career woman. Some 25 years later, the coin is dislodged, falls to the bottom and she has to deal with the ramifications of 10 kid wishes coming true all at once.”

Aibel and Berger’s credits are pretty impressive, including both Kung Fu Panda films, as well as DreamWorks’ Monsters vs.

Reese Witherspoon, last seen opposite Twilight Saga lead Robert Pattinson in Fox's adaptation of Sara Gruen's period romance Water for Elephants, turned the Disney comedy Wish List upside-down when she agreed to play the lead, what was originally written as a male part. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney moved forward on fixing the situation by hiring Kung Fu Panda 2 screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to re-write Randi Mayem Singer’s original script about a young girl who drops a coin into a wishing well and makes ten wishes with no impact. Walt Disney Pictures have finally crossed off the screenwriters off their wish list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writers Jonathan Aibel and Gleen Berger were brought on board to write the script for “Wish List.” The writing team recently penned “Kung Fu Panda 2.” The Disney project has been stalled since 2001, in which it was originally a starring vehicle for a male comedic star. Disney has found it’s writers for a new Reese Witherspoon comedy. THR reports that Kung Fu Panda 2’s Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are set to write the comedy fantasy Wish List. The film is being produced by Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem Pictures.

This long-gestating project was first set up at Disney in 2001, so their hiring breathes some ne life to the project. Witherspoon became attached to star in the film initially planned as a vehicle for a male comedy star. The story centers on “a career-oriented adult whose perfectly tailored life is thrown for a loop when all the wishes she made as a child are suddenly granted.”

Wish List will tell the story of a workaholic adult whose perfect life is thrown upside down when all the wishes they made as a child magically come true. Judging by the small synopsis, Witherspoon seems like a perfect fit for this type of role and could definitely bring a lot of energy to the character. Based on the surprise of their DreamWork hit, I’m sure Ciardi and Gray will have no problem formulating a fun, happy script that will make both kids and adults laugh.

The project has been sitting around the studio since 2001, where it was originally set for a male comedy star.

Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel will move foreword on the project as soon as they complete the Candy Land script for Hasbro (another project with a lead female protagonist).

Today, The Hollywood Reporter has an update, saying that the studio has signed Kung Fu Panda 2 writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to provide the screenplay.
