15 years after the Legally Blonde sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde hit theaters, Elle Woods is finally looking to make her return. After years of rumors and speculation, Reese Witherspoon has entered talks to reprise her beloved Elle Woods role in Legally Blonde 3 for MGM, with the actress also slated to produce through her Hello Sunshine company. MGM is also closing a deal with original Legally Blonde writers Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith to return and write the script.
The original Legally Blonde was a surprise hit in the summer of 2001, which helped put then rising star Reese Witherspoon on the map. The story followed Elle Woods, a smart and popular sorority girl who is unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend Warner (Matthew Davis). She tries to win him back by following him to Harvard Law School, where she's surprisingly accepted and begins to learn more about herself while...

Hollywood is certainly sequel crazy, but some recent follow-ups haven't fared well at the box office. Especially when it comes to comedies. Long-awaited movies such as Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2 arrived well past their freshness date, and audiences weren't that interested. That hasn't stopped Reese Witherspoon from considering a return to two of her most favorite characters. If she had her way, there would already be a Legally Blonde 3 and a Sweet Home Alabama 2.
But is there an audience for those movies still around? The verdict is out on Sweet Home Alabama 2, even if the original does have its fans. Legally Blonde 3, though, may be closer to happening than we think. Last October, Reese claimed that she really wanted to return as Elle Woods. Now, she reveals that a sequel might be closer to becoming a reality.

With Joe Wright’s Pan flying into theaters this October, Hollywood may be about to embark on a new romance with the Boy Who Never Grew Up, and Disney is already getting ahead of the crowd with a live-action Tinker Bell spinoff, currently titled Tink. Today brings news that, to help them bring Peter Pan’s pint-sized sidekick to the big screen, the studio is calling on none other than Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon to spread some fairy dust.
Witherspoon is attached to both star in and produce the pic, which is being developed as a new take on a beloved character in the same vein as Disney’s mega-grossing Maleficent (though with a considerably smaller budget, according to reports). It will play with the classic Peter Pan narrative to give Tink (Witherspoon) her own tale, independent from her human-sized companion.

With Hot Pursuit, her buddy comedy with Sofia Vergara, proving a hot mess at the box office after getting raked over the coals by critics, Reese Witherspoon is retreating back into dramatic territory for Pale Blue Dot.
Witherspoon, who was Oscar-nominated earlier this year for her performance in Wild, will portray a successful female astronaut who returns home from an extended mission, only to find her mind unraveling as she attempts to readjust to a seemingly perfect American life. The pic, written by Brian C. Brown and Elliott Diguiseppi (the Black List scribe behind Uncle Shelby), explores the idea that astronauts experience an unusual form of mental illness when they return home, finding it tremendously difficult to regain a grip on earthbound reality.
Buzz is strong on this one, with Witherspoon also producing through her Pacific Standard banner. Hollywood has been hot on space-related dramas since the runaway success of Gravity,...

Alexander Payne began development on his then-next project, Downsizing, in 2009 before moving onto The Descendants. The troublesome social satire scripted by Payne and long-time writing partner Jim Taylor already had Paul Giamatti and Reese Witherspoon attached before it went belly-up. For whatever reason, 20th Century Fox were reluctant to invest in the story or its heavy use of CGI and lodged the flick into a permanent hiatus.
Late last year, the film underwent a shake-up. When news arrived that Matt Damon had relinquished his role in Zhang Zimou’s China-set epic, The Great Wall, in favour of the lead in Payne’s drama, the project returned to Fox’s development slate. Now, in a strange turn of events, Deadline reports that Witherspoon is back on board as the female lead. Reese Witherspoon has signed on to follow up her critically-acclaimed performance in Wild with Downsizing. Ironically, the actress was initially attached way back in 2009 when we first reported on the project. Paul Giamatti and Sacha Baron Cohen were also attached to star at the time for director Alexander Payne, but it never moved forward, as the filmmaker went on to make Best Picture nominee The Descendants just a few years later. Matt Damon signed on to star back in November, playing a man who believes his life would be far better off if he shrunk himself, in what is described as a social satire.
Back in 2009, Reese Witherspoon was set to play a woman who met the shrinking man, then played by Paul Giamatti. It isn't known if she will still play the same role in this incarnation. Deadline reports that timing may be an issue with Reese Witherspoon, since...

Fox 2000 has brought on Randi Mayem Singer (Mrs. Doubtfire) to write the screenplay for Alvin and the Chipmunks 4, which has already been set for release on December 16, 2016.
No plot details have been released at this stage, and it isn't known if any of the cast members from 2007's Alvin and the Chipmunks, 2009's Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel or 2011's Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked will return for this follow-up. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney voiced the Chipmunks in all three movies, with Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate voicing the Chippettes in Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked.
The first three movies have earned over $560 at the domestic box office, and more than $1.1 billion worldwide combined, even though Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked earned $100 million less than its predecessors during its theatrical run.

However, her coin never reaches the bottom, and she grows up to lose touch with her inner child. Paul Feig will be continuing his recent trend of directing comedies led by a female cast with Susan Cooper. His 2011 female-led feature, Bridesmaids, was a mega success, bringing in $288 million. That film will be followed by The Heat later this month. After bridal parties and buddy cops, Feig’s new focus will be on a female spy who is said to be reminiscent of James Bond.
While not much can be said of the plot, Feig will be taking a more realistic approach, unlike other spy comedies such as Austin Powers or Johnny English. Similar to The Heat, two characters will lead the story. The possibility of creating a franchise is also being discussed.
In addition to directing, Feig has provided the script and will be producing. He was supposedly inspired by one of his favorite movies, the 1967 spoof Casino Royale starring Peter Sellers. If the two films have anything in common,...

Paul Feig was able to round up a hilarious group of women for his comedy Bridesmaids and has Reese Witherspoon headlining his next film Wish List. His casting fortune continued last night when Variety reported Feig and 20th Century Fox got Academy award winner Sandra Bullock and Bridesmaids standout Melissa McCarthy signed on to star in his future, currently untitled buddy cop movie. Last year, Bridesmaids did more than just become one of the most successful comedies and launch Kristen Wiig’s career to the next level: it also provided a healthy boost for both director Paul Feig and scene stealer Melissa McCarthy. The pair are now reconnecting for a new film, and have roped in Sandra Bullock for the untitled cop comedy. The buddy script comes from Katie Dippold, who has been honing her comedy chops on Us sitcom Parks And Recreation. The story finds an upright FBI agent (we’re guessing Bullock – she’s got form with the Bureau) and an unconventional Boston cop (sounds like something McCarthy could win with) forced to work together.20th Century Fox is looking to get this one shooting this summer to take advantage of McCarthy’s break from her own TV job on Mike And Molly. Be on the lookout for a touch of high school hilarity in this summer's "The Amazing Spider-Man".
According to Vulture, "Spider-Man" director Marc Webb got some writing assistance from "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig with one of the film's scenes.
Feig attended Tribeca Film Festival last night for the "Take This Waltz" premiere and gushed about his connection with Webb.
"I'm looking forward to 'The Amazing Spider-Man,'" he explained. "[Webb]'s a great guy, he invited me on set, and I did a little bit of writing for that movie, for one of the high school scenes, so I'm excited."
Feig's got some serious experience with writing about the woes of adolescence, having created the short-lived but beloved television show "Freaks and Geeks," about a group of teens dealing with the usual dilemmas — factions, bullying, alcohol and drugs, to name a few.

When the news first broke about Reese Witherspoon becoming attached to a high concept Disney comedy called Wish List, we worried that it sounded as though she was falling back on formula rom-coms. We’re still a little cautious about the premise, but we’re heartened to see that Bridesmaids' Paul Feig is now in negotiations to direct it. Wish List would see Witherspoon as a woman who made a set of wishes when she was young. Now, as a driven career type with no real memory of what she asked for, she finds the wishes suddenly coming true and causing havoc in her life. But, we would hazard a guess, possibly also offering important life lessons. The script, which has been lurking around the studios since 2001 (when it was originally conceived with a male lead character), has been through the hands of Randi Mayem Singer, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.

Some of you may remember Disney's "Wish List" project. It was reported last August that Reese Witherspoon had signed on to star in the gig; a comedy about an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. None of the wishes come true because the coins never touch the bottom of the well, but 25 years later, they're dislodged, and now this ambitious career woman has to deal with the consequences of ten wishes made as a child that are coming to pass.
Sounds a bit like "Enchanted" meets "When In Rome," and it was originally going to be written by Randi Mayem Singer who wrote "The Tooth Fairy" (and ironically enough a project first developed for a male lead, a la "Big"), but apparently it's been penned by "Kung Fu Panda 2" screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Now "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig is in negotiations...

Paul Feig, the man who brought Bridesmaids' bathroom humor and plane hallucinations to the big screen, may have found his next project in Disney's Wish List, starring Reese Witherspoon. The director is currently in talks with the studio, as The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The film seems to follow a bit in the vein of Enchanted and Kate & Leopold: a career-driven woman all of a sudden has to fend with all manner of absurd hilarity as her childhood wishes one by one come true. Is that a pastel pink pony in my living room? Eek! And why am I wearing an astronaut suit with a built-in tutu? And why is everyone calling me Madame President? Oh what a mess! Here's to Feig reining in the kiddy laughs and giving us a few moments of good 'ole Bridesmaids-style adult awkwardness to make it worth our while.

The story centers on a career-oriented woman whose perfectly tailored life is thrown for a loop when all the wishes she made as a child are suddenly granted. Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger ("Kung Fu Panda 2") penned the script.
Reese Witherspoon is attached to star while Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray are producing. The project was originally set up over a decade ago with a male star in mind.

Although he created one of the best TV series to grace the small screen, it took a massive hit comedy to get Hollywood invested in Paul Feig. The Freaks & Geeks creator and Bridesmaids director is now getting attached to a number of high-profile projects and THR has news on one he’s reportedly entered talks for.
Reese Witherspoon is lined up to star in the film in which Feig is circling, a Disney fantasy comedy titled Wish List. Written by Kung Fu Panda 2 scribes Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, it tells the story of a workaholic adult whose perfect life is thrown upside down when all the wishes they made as a child magically come true.
With Feig departing the Bridget Jones sequel, this one could end up being his next film. As for Witherspoon, she’s also planning to star in Atom Egoyan‘s The Devil’s Knot...

I have a hard time watching Reese Witherspoon movies. It's not because she picks terrible projects or because she's a bad actress - in fact, it's actually the opposite. Every time I see her on screen I immediately think back to Alexander Payne's Election and her performance as Tracy Flick, a character so grating and awful that it's actually poisoned my perception of the person who played her (Note: Making the whole situation that much stranger, I love every other aspect of Election). As a result, I've actively tried to avoid all Witherspoon movies since, but now THR has news about who may direct her next project and, in a surprise twist, it makes me actually anticipate seeing it. Paul Feig is now in talks to direct Wish List, a new Disney fantasy comedy that already has Witherspoon on board to star. The story follows a "career-oriented woman" whose...

We heard a few months back in the summer that Reese Witherspoon had come aboard Disney’s Wish List, leading the film as a career-driven woman whose childhood dreams are granted twenty-five years late.
THR now report that Disney are moving ahead nicely with the project, hiring the Emmy-winning writing team of Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to pen the script.
The film will see,
“an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. They don’t come true because her coin never reached the bottom and eventually she loses her inner child and becomes a full grown and ambitious career woman. Some 25 years later, the coin is dislodged, falls to the bottom and she has to deal with the ramifications of 10 kid wishes coming true all at once.”
Aibel and Berger’s credits are pretty impressive, including both Kung Fu Panda films, as well as DreamWorks’ Monsters vs.

Reese Witherspoon, last seen opposite Twilight Saga lead Robert Pattinson in Fox's adaptation of Sara Gruen's period romance Water for Elephants, turned the Disney comedy Wish List upside-down when she agreed to play the lead, what was originally written as a male part. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney moved forward on fixing the situation by hiring Kung Fu Panda 2 screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to re-write Randi Mayem Singer’s original script about a young girl who drops a coin into a wishing well and makes ten wishes with no impact. Witherspoon signed on to play the little girl as a grown career woman who faces her childhood wishes coming true all at once because her coin dislodged after 25 years and finally lands at the bottom of the well.

Walt Disney Pictures have finally crossed off the screenwriters off their wish list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writers Jonathan Aibel and Gleen Berger were brought on board to write the script for “Wish List.” The writing team recently penned “Kung Fu Panda 2.” The Disney project has been stalled since 2001, in which it was originally a starring vehicle for a male comedic star. Earlier this summer, it was announced actress Reese Witherspoon will play the lead role instead. The film is about a career-minded adult’s perfect life was turned upside down after all of her childhood wishes were suddenly granted to her. Aibel and Berger also wrote “Kung Fu Panda” and “Monsters vs. Aliens.” The site also reported the writing duo is currently working on the script to adapt Hasbro’s board game “Candyland.” Who’s next on the wish list? With the success of this summer’s Kung Fu Panda 2, scribes Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger have been tapped to write the Disney fantasy comedy Wish List. Reese Witherspoon it set to star in the film from veteran Disney producers Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem Pictures. [THR]
Wish List will tell the story of a workaholic adult whose perfect life is thrown upside down when all the wishes they made as a child magically come true. Judging by the small synopsis, Witherspoon seems like a perfect fit for this type of role and could definitely bring a lot of energy to the character. Based on the surprise of their DreamWork hit, I’m sure Ciardi and Gray will have no problem formulating a fun, happy script that will make both kids and adults laugh.
The project has been sitting around the studio since 2001, where it was originally set for a male comedy star.

Kung Fu Panda 2 duo Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel have been hired to redraft Wish List, a comedic fantasy starring Reese Witherspoon for Walt Disney Pictures.
The film was originally conceived in 2001, with a male at the center of this story, which will now revolve around a successful career woman who unexpectedly finds all of her childhood dreams coming true. Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel are rejiggering the plot so that it will now be told from a female point-of-view. (Good thing they didn't hire female writers for that, huh?)
Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray (Fever Pitch, The Rookie) will produce Wish List.
Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel will move foreword on the project as soon as they complete the Candy Land script for Hasbro (another project with a lead female protagonist).
Wish List is in development and stars Reese Witherspoon.

Back in October, we got the excellent news that Clint Eastwood would be making his return to acting in Trouble With The Curve, after Beyoncé Knowles’ pregnancy put production on his next directorial project, A Star Is Born, on hold.
Just a few days after that, word came that Sandra Bullock was in talks for the female lead, the role of Eastwood’s daughter in the film. The Playlist now report that Bullock has decided to pass on the part, and now two more brilliant actresses are being eyed for the role in the form of Amy Adams (The Fighter) and Reese Witherspoon (Water for Elephants).
The script has been penned by relative newcomer Randy Brown, and will see the directorial debut of Eastwood’s long-time friend and producing partner, Robert Lorenz, focusing on Eastwood as,

The last time we wrote about Reese Witherspoon adding a potential project to her schedule, it was for the generic-sounding Wish List. Back then, we bemoaned the fact that it didn’t exactly sound like she was making anything different from her usual fare when on rom-com duty. Well, now she’s being approached for something that could be more interesting, as Sony wants her to star in Sex Tape. No, the studio doesn't want her to go all Paris Hilton: it’s a comedy written by Kate Angelo about a married couple who get the night off from looking after their kids and decide to add a little spark back into their sex lives by making a private tape. But when they wake up, the recording is gone, kicking off a frantic search.Yeah, it sounds a little like a kinkier Date Night, but Sony also wants Forgetting Sarah Marshall...

Reese Witherspoon stopped by the Brentwood Country Mart in La yesterday for a bit of light shopping. Still modeling a fresh off the beach glow from her recent family trip to Hawaii, she carried Givenchy's ivory Nightingale bag on her arm. Reese has amassed an arsenal of handbags in her wardrobe and has recently been spotted toting Miu Miu, Chloe, Alexander Wang, Marni, and Bottega Veneta, to name a few. Luxury items may be a few of Reese's favorite things, but in her new Disney film, Wish List, her character's childhood wishes are granted, which may be more along the lines of ponies and prince charming than designer wares. Reese Witherspoon picked up some items from Ron Herman during a Friday afternoon spent shopping in Beverly Hills. Reese was once again looking adorable in a Summery skirt and low heels, though this is a slightly more casual version than the Chanel and Louboutins she wore earlier in the week. She's been frequenting the city's high end boutiques recently and has been spotted scoping out James Perse, Hermés, Chloe, and Cartier to name a few. Her free time between movies will be coming to an end soon since she recently signed on to star in the sweet-sounding romantic comedy Wish List and Reese is also in talks to join Matthew McConaughey in Mud. Matthew is a good friend of her husband Jim Toth, who is also his agent, and both Mm and his patrner Camila were in attendance at Reese and Jim's Spring wedding. View Slideshow ›...

Reese Witherspoon had a busy morning of working out and running errands around La today. She made a stop at the Brentwood Country Mart, picking up a bag of goodies from James Perse and then heading back to her SUV with the new purchases in a reusable American Eagle bag. It would appear Reese is getting a jump start on her Fall wardrobe, since yesterday she was spotted leaving Chloé's Melrose Avenue outpost. It's almost back-to-school time for her kids, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, following their Summer of fun. Ava and Deacon spent the July 4 holiday playing on the beach with Reese and their stepfather, Jim, then took an out-of-town adventure with dad, Ryan Phillippe. Busy Reese has her own new material to study. Reese just signed on to star in Wish List, and there's a possibility she'll team up with pal Matthew McConaughey in Mud. View Slideshow ›...
