There’s a new Wolf Creek movie coming our way, with Wolf Creek: Legacy aiming for a fall 2026 release… but franchise creator Greg McLean isn’t going to be writing or directing that one. While he remains on board the project as producer, he handed the writing duties over to Duncan Samarasinghe and chose Sean Lahiff, who was editor on Wolf Creek 2, to direct the film. While Lahiff focuses on bringing Wolf Creek: Legacy to the screen, McLean has set up another project: he’ll be directing the meta action horror film The Horror Game, and Variety reports that Ella Balinska of the Netflix Resident Evil series has signed on to star in it.
Scripted by Gus Krieger (Would You Rather), The Horror Game has the following synopsis: While desperate to find her missing sister, a young woman (Balinska) and her three best friends find themselves trapped inside a...

It's been a long time since the world heard from Mick Taylor, the Australian serial killer at the heart of one of the most brutal horror franchises ever made: Wolf Creek. All that is about to change thanks to Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting, though, as the duo are set to revive the series with a new sequel in 2026 titled Wolf Creek: Legacy.
First announced last year, Variety is reporting that the same team behind Terrifier 2 and 3 have acquired the distribution rights to Wolf Creek: Legacy, and will release it to theaters in the fall of 2026. John Jarratt will return to reprise the role of Taylor, and director Greg McLean is taking on a behind-the-scenes role as a producer this time around, with Sean Lahiff running point as director. In a statement released by Lahiff, the newly minted director said the latest entry in the franchise "will be a...

Paul Hammersmith is a character who appears in the Wolf Creek Australian horror franchise, which includes two movies and one TV show, and some fans are wondering if the character is a real person or not. Much like the horror thriller movie Alone, Wolf Creek is an abduction horror film that is just as much about isolation as it is about the kills. A notoriously bloody franchise, Wolf Creek is shockingly real and frightening in regard to its depiction of serial murder and terror. Each film in the franchise has been criticized for its gore and depictions of torture.
Unlike similar movies in the torture porn genre, Wolf Creek is particularly vilified because it's based on real events that happened in Australia in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The first Wolf Creek premiered in 2005, with...

Exclusive: Greg McLean, director of the Australian drama series Territory, which is currently sitting at No. 3 on Netflix’s list of its Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. after premiering October 24, has signed with Range Media Partners for management.
Billed as the Aussie version of Yellowstone, the six-part series follows the generational clashes that threaten to tear the Lawson family apart when Marianne Station is left without a clear successor. Sensing this once-great dynasty is in decline, the outback’s most powerful factions — rival cattle barons, desert gangsters, Indigenous elders and billionaire miners — move in for the kill. With billions of dollars at stake, everyone wants a piece of the pie.

The Wolf Creek franchise is getting a long-anticipated reboot movie, which is fantastic news for the cult fan base of this unconventional slasher series. Created by writer-director Greg McLean, this franchise began in 2005 with the original Wolf Creek. Set in the Australian outback, the plot revolves around three unsuspecting backpackers who get hunted and captured by a sadistic, xenophobic serial killer named Mick Taylor, played by John Jarratt. The script was inspired by the real-life murders of backpackers committed by Ivan Milat in the 90s and Bradley Murdoch in 2001.
In 2013, McLean directed a sequel, simply titled Wolf Creek 2, which saw Mick kidnapping and torturing a British tourist and a young German couple traveling in the outback. In 2016, the Wolf Creek franchise was revived as a web series on the Australian streaming service Stan. Jarratt again reprised his role as Mick and the show ran for two seasons. Now, a...

Its been more than 10 years since John Jarratt walked off into the Australian outback in Wolf Creek 2 as serial killer Mick Taylor, but the deranged psychopath is getting ready for a big return in 2025 with the sequel Wolf Creek: Legacy. First released in 2005, Wolf Creek has gone on to be regarded as one of the best Australian horror films of all-time, and for elevating the sub-genre known as torture porn to new heights with its rich character development and stunning cinematography. Directed by Greg McLean, its 2013 sequel was met with equal praise, with The Sydney Morning Herald calling it at the time "the greatest Aussie flick ever made."
Per Deadline, McLean will return to produce Wolf Creek: Legacy which is set to once again feature Jarratt in the lead with directorial duties this time falling to Sean Lahiff, who served as editor on Wolf Creek 2, and the short-lived...

A horror movie franchise that's been dormant for years is getting revived with an all-new reboot. The announcement comes nearly two decades after the original movie's release.
In 2005, the horror movie Wolf Creek was released. Introducing John Jarratt as serial killer Mick Taylor, the film followed British tourists getting stalked by the murderer in the Australian outback. Jarratt returned for a sequel, released in 2013, which saw Mick again targeting tourists who make the mistake of venturing into his territory. From 2016 to 2017, Jarratt would also star as Mick in the Australian TV series, this time focusing on a teen American tourist. There had been rumors ever since of a third movie getting made, and now Deadline has revealed that a new installment of the film series is officially moving forward.

Australia's most prolific horror movie returns, as a new Wolf Creek sequel is in development. Inspired by real-life cases of backpackers losing their lives at the hands of sadistic killers, the 2005 feature saw three backpackers become the prey of Taylor and being subject to grisly torture. While its excessive, unrelenting violence left critics divided on whether it was exploitative or provocative, the Australian horror movie did earn back its budget and spark a wider franchise with a sequel and a TV series.
Nineteen years after audiences were first introduced to Mick Taylor, Deadline reports that a new Wolf Creek sequel is in development, with filming set to begin in 2025. Wolf Creek: Legacy, a reboot of the infamous Australian horror, is set to film in early 2025. More on the film here.
2005’s Wolf Creek remains one of the most vicious horror films of the 2000s. Taking inspiration from the fact that hundreds of people go missing in Australia every year, the film starred John Jarratt as serial killer Mick Taylor, who preyed on unsuspecting hikers in the Australian Outback. The film spawned a sequel, Wolf Creek 2, but the less we say about that one, the better.
Deadline now reports that Wolf Creek is due for a reboot. Wolf Creek: Legacy is heading into production in early 2025 and original director Greg Mclean is producing. The film will be directed by Sean Lahiff, who edited Wolf Creek 2.
Jarratt will also reprise his role as Taylor and this time, it’s Americans who find themselves at the mercy of the brutal serial killer,...

It's difficult to define what makes a film "underrated," but in the landscape of slasher movies, the Australian franchise "Wolf Creek" is my go-to answer for "most underrated." It does seem strange to give the series that distinction considering there are two "Wolf Creek" feature films, a two-season television continuation series, two novels, and a rumored third film currently in development, but the average movie fan has no idea what "Wolf Creek" is or why John Jarratt's Mick Taylor is one of the scariest killers out there. And yet, the series has continued on and expanded in the ways that it has because it's genuinely terrifying.
Writer/director Greg McLean first started on the script for "Wolf Creek" back in the late '90s, but knew something was missing. His first take was a far more traditional slasher, but it was after seeing media of an Australian serial killer...

The script is tight, the dialogue is sharp,...

We haven't seen the last of Mick Taylor, or so it would seem. Actor John Jarratt has revealed that Wolf Creek 3 is in the works, both on the big and small screen. Indeed, it seems Jarratt and Greg McLean are planning both a movie sequel and a third season of the TV series. Unfortunately, given what is going on in the world currently, those plans have been put on hold for the time being.
John Jarratt made the reveal in a recent Facebook post. The actor, who played the murderous Mick Taylor in both the movies and the TV show, revealed that he and director Greg McLean are working on both projects at the moment. Here's what he had to say about it.

The Wolf Creek franchise has been surprisingly long-lasting, from the 2005 original horror movie to its 2013 sequel, and two seasons of a web-based show that ran from 2016 to 2017. Star John Jarratt, who plays the homicidal Mick Taylor in the series, has now revealed that a Wolf Creek 3 and a third season of the web program are in-development.
Speaking on Facebook, Jarratt indicated that new instalments in the Australian-based Wolf Creek franchise are likely, but that, like with other projects, things have been slowed down by Covid-19.
“To my delight – I have received an overwhelming amount of messages about Wolf Creek 3 – the season and the movie. [Franchise creator/director] Greg McLean and I have both projects in the works but unfortunately Covid-19 has the world at a standstill. I promise to keep you updated as we all try our best to get through these tough times.”

January is a weird time for movie fans. Historically, it is something of a dumping ground for movie studios to unload some bad movies and maybe make a quick buck. On the flipside, many of the awards season contenders expand into more theaters and the rare, unexpected gem can be found. For the most part, though, if a studio decides to drop a horror movie in January, it is a bad sign. The Bye Bye Man falls into that category, but this isn't just a bad movie we're talking about; this is an early contender for the worst movie of 2017.
Director Stacy Title's The Bye Bye Man, the latest from Stx Entertainment, centers on a mysterious figure who was behind a serious of bizarre murders in the 60s in Wisconsin, but was never heard from again. Until now that is. When three college friends move into a house off campus,...
