Exclusive: Colombian actress Diana Hoyos has joined the cast of the action pic Diablo, which Grindstone Entertainment Group has acquired for North America.

Hoyos joins Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror in the film directed by Ernesto Díaz Espinoza’s.

It was announced today that Daro Distribution has also acquired world rights to the pic with the exclusion of North America, Latin America, Asia, Airlines, and the Middle East which Film Mode is representing on behalf of co-producer Agora Films. The film is being prepped for release later this year. Daro’s President Pierre-Andre Rochat has joined as executive producer.

Film Mode Entertainment and Wonder Street are co-producing with a script written by Mat Sansom. Producers are Craig Baumgarten, Clay Epstein, Adkins, and Marco Zaror. The film recently wrapped principal photography and is currently in post-production.

The film follows Kris Chaney (Adkins) who, after being released from prison, embarks on a perilous mission to fulfill an old promise but finds himself in danger when he kidnaps Elisa, the daughter of a powerful gangster. Her father, Vincent, puts out a call to the entire criminal underworld to bring her back alive. El Corvo (Zaror), a psychopathic killer, joins the hunt not for the money but for his own vendetta against Vincent’s family. Kris must evade both Elisa’s powerful father and a ruthless killer bent on revenge to live long enough to tell Elisa the full story that has been hidden from her.

Netflix debuted the sixth season of Love Is Blind on Valentine’s Day, and the show captured a lot of viewers’ hearts — or at least their eyes.

The dating show easily led Nielsen’s original streaming series rankings for Feb. 12-18, drawing 907 million minutes of viewing time in the United States. It also finished third overall, behind library shows Bluey (1.17 billion minutes on Disney+) and Young Sheldon (1 billion on Netflix and Max). Those two swapped spots from the previous week.

Netflix’s romance One Day had 460 million minutes of watch time, a healthy 55 percent improvement over its opening. Apple TV+’s World War II drama Masters of the Air hit the rankings for the first time with 243 million minutes, with three fourths of that total coming from the episode that premiered Feb. 16.

Oppenheimer also had its streaming premiere on Peacock that week, leading the movies top 10 with 612 million minutes of watch time.

The Marvels redeems itself by topping streaming charts despite a lackluster theatrical performance and negative critic reviews. Featuring Captain Marvel teaming up with Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, the film still managed to win over audiences. Arrival on Disney+ garnered 558 million minutes watched in its first week, surpassing expectations and proving its appeal.

The Marvels continues to push back against its reputation as the biggest flop of the MCU by dominating the streaming charts and soaring to the #1 spot. Last week, it rose to 9.9M views to top Netflix’s English TV Top 10.

It was followed by Season 6 of Love Is Blind, which debuted at number two with 6.3M views. The pair were followed by Griselda, which topped the list last week, The Tourist, Fool Me Once, Taylor Tomlinson: Have It All, American Nightmare, Warrior, Resident Alien and House, M.D.

The latter two entries highlight the power of Netflix’s licensing strategy, taking older shows and rocketing them to the top ten.

XYZ Films knows a good thing when they see it, and that’s why the studio preemptively purchased the U.S. rights to Skyline: Warpath, a sequel in the Skyline universe starring Iko Uwais and Scott Adkins. Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline) directs the threequel from his own script, with filming taking place in Indonesia. The long-awaited reboot of the cult classic fantasy film ‘Highlander’ is finally moving forward, with Henry Cavill set to star as the immortal swordsman. The project, which has been in development for years, is helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski and produced by Lionsgate.

But now John Wick seems to be taking a little break, so it looks like Stahelski might finally have some time to bring sword-wielding immortals back to the screen.
