Celebrities enter a journey defined by the aggressive erotic awkwardness of their fans’ tweets while reading them out loud on air. 2 years ago, Dylan O’Brien happened to be one of the celebrities chosen for an episode that would go down in history.

A decade ago, Dylan O'Brien was a rising star in the entertainment industry. After success on a little-known MTV series, he was tapped to lead what should have been the next big franchise. The popularity of dystopian franchises such as The Hunger Games and Divergent made it apparent that there was a market for more content. O'Brien starred as Thomas in The Maze Runner, an adaptation of James Dashner's book of the same name about a group of boys who wake up in a terrifying maze with no memory of who they are.
While The Maze Runner was a commercial success, critics were less impressed, and the franchise lost steam during the third film, The Death Cure. O'Brien was injured during a stunt gone wrong when he was hit by a car. The actor has since gone on the record about how his safety concerns were disregarded, leading to a bad experience on set.

Michael Keaton's action thriller that made only $8.7 million at the box office in 2021 becomes a global Netflix hit three years later. After gaining recognition for his comedic performance in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988, Keaton rose to greater fame for his portrayal of the iconic superhero in Burton's Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). In the following years, Keaton starred in various comedies and dramas, such as Clean and Sober, Much Ado About Nothing, The Paper, Multiplicity, Jack Frost, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and The Other Guys.
Keaton's career saw a resurgence in 2014 after starring in Birdman, playing a washed-up actor seeking a comeback and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Since then, he's starred in several dramas, such as the Best Picture winner Spotlight, while also returning to his iconic roles as Batman in 2023's The Flash and in 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. John Wick: Chapter 4 is an acclaimed film with some serious talent attached to it. In addition to John Wick franchise mastermind Chad Stahelski in the director's seat, the film features a screenplay co-written by Michael Finch and Shay Hatten. While Hatten had also worked on John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Finch was a newcomer to the series with John Wick: Chapter 4. Still, he helped lead the duo to success, as John Wick: Chapter 4 received positive reviews. The film also did well at the box office, making over $440 million.
Prior to John Wick: Chapter 4, Finch had written screenplays for other action films, though his career had been fairly slow moving. His past work has included writing for American Assassin, Blood Brother, Interrogation, and Countdown. Likely aided by the success of John Wick: Chapter 4, Finch's career has now taken off, as he is reported to be the screenwriter on over 10 upcoming projects.

Max's thriller Caddo Lake has a large cast of characters that are intricately linked together, and keeping track of all the important figures in the story can be a bit of a challenge. Caddo Lake was produced by M. Night Shyamalan, which helps explain its complex and twisting plot. Though it is a fairly complex narrative, Caddo Lake's Rotten Tomatoes reviews have also been mostly positive, indicating fans have enjoyed unearthing its mysteries. Understanding all the characters in the film and the actors who play them can help make those mysteries easier to solve, and help make Caddo Lake an even better thriller.

Dylan O’Brien reflected on an accident that occurred while filming “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure” in 2016. In a recent interview, the actor explained how the incident impacted his approach to work. While shooting a stunt scene, O’Brien was pulled off the top of a moving vehicle and struck by another. He suffered a concussion and other injuries.
“It was life-changing,” stated O’Brien. The experience altered how he handles his career. Previously, he would comply with requests from directors without question. Now at age 33, he stands up for safety on set.
As a 24-year-old, O’Brien raised concerns about the stunt. However, producers dismissed these worries. During the shoot, the feared accident took place that halted production. O’Brien underwent a long recovery process.
The actor said it’s common for young performers to avoid being seen as “difficult.” They strive not to complain so others view them positively.

Dylan O’Brien is opening up about the safety concerns he had on the set of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which resulted in the actor sustaining serious injuries in an accident while filming.
The Saturday Night star looked back at the “life-changing incident” during a recent interview with Men’s Health. In 2016, O’Brien was shooting the third installment in the Maze Runner franchise when he was pulled off the top of a moving vehicle unexpectedly while wearing a harness and hit by another vehicle.
“I’ve approached everything differently, you could say, particularly with regard to standing my ground on set,” he said of how the experience impacted his life. “It’s very commonplace in the culture for young actors to be controlled, and the way they strive to do that is by always being like, ‘Oh, don’t become difficult. Don’t be a pain in the ass.

Dylan O'Brien faced a potentially career-ending injury on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure. O'Brien quietly rebuilt his career post-injury, starring in Love and Monsters and collaborating with Taylor Swift. Despite the traumatic experience, O'Brien has found a new balance and looks forward to a different but equally impressive career.
Dylan O'Brien had a near-death experience while working on Maze Runner: The Death Cure that almost ended his acting career. O'Brien first burst onto the scene with the starring role of Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf, a TV adaptation of the 1985 movie. He took advantage of the YA boom happening at the time and quickly parlayed his Teen Wolf stardom into a leading performance in the Maze Runner franchise. These two roles kept O'Brien busy between 2011 and 2018 when the final Maze Runner movie premiered, but by then, most audiences had gotten over the glut of YA adaptations.

Scott Adkins critiques CGI fight scenes in Road House, comparing them unfavorably to Patrick Swayze's original version. Adkins acknowledges CGI can be effective when used sparingly, citing Johnny Nguyen's low-budget action film as an example. Despite his criticisms, Adkins still enjoyed Road House and praised the performances of Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor.
Scott Adkins has no love for the fight scenes in Road House. As an experienced action star, Adkins starred as Killa in John Wick: Chapter 4, and he has also appeared in Day Shift, Castle Falls, and American Assassin. He did not appear in Jake Gyllenhaal's latest movie, Road House. The remake is inspired by the 1989 movie and features Gyllenhaal's Dalton facing off against Conor McGregor's Knox.

Netflix debuted the sixth season of Love Is Blind on Valentine’s Day, and the show captured a lot of viewers’ hearts — or at least their eyes.
The dating show easily led Nielsen’s original streaming series rankings for Feb. 12-18, drawing 907 million minutes of viewing time in the United States. It also finished third overall, behind library shows Bluey (1.17 billion minutes on Disney+) and Young Sheldon (1 billion on Netflix and Max). Those two swapped spots from the previous week.
Netflix’s romance One Day had 460 million minutes of watch time, a healthy 55 percent improvement over its opening. Apple TV+’s World War II drama Masters of the Air hit the rankings for the first time with 243 million minutes, with three fourths of that total coming from the episode that premiered Feb. 16.
Oppenheimer also had its streaming premiere on Peacock that week, leading the movies top 10 with 612 million minutes of watch time.

The week of the Super Bowl was a relatively light one for streaming in the United States — but that allowed a couple of shows to score solid positions in the top 10 despite relatively modest viewing times.
Netflix’s romance One Day, which premiered Feb. 8, was one of them — finishing fifth among original shows despite only gathering 296 million minutes of viewing in the U.S. for the week of Feb. 5-11. In the previous five weeks, the show in that slot had averaged 555 million minutes of watch time. Paramount+’s Halo also made its first appearance in the top 10, finishing fourth among originals with 354 million minutes as it opened its second season.
Only two shows, acquired stalwarts Young Sheldon (1.35 billion minutes on Netflix and Max) and Bluey (1.14 billion minutes on Disney+), eclipsed a billion minutes for the week. Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved into first place among originals with 765 million minutes of watch time.

The 2017 spy thriller, American Assassin, remains the first and only film adaptation of Vince Flynn's best-selling Mitch Rapp book series. Starring Dylan O'Brien as Flynn's Mitch Rapp character and Michael Keaton as Stan Hurley, American Assassin failed to ignite a franchise, despite the popular source material and numerous books available to utilize. That said, American Assassin remains an entertaining action and spy-thriller affair, boasting an entertaining, scene-chewing performance by Michael Keaton, along with O'Brien portraying a hardened and cold-blooded CIA operative in Mitch Rapp, who becomes traumatized by the loss of his girlfriend in a senseless tragedy.

Vince Flynn originally envisioned Eric Bana as Mitch Rapp, but Dylan O'Brien impressed in the role for American Assassin. Despite hopes for sequels, American Assassin didn't lead to a franchise, leaving the Mitch Rapp property dormant. A Mitch Rapp reboot is inevitable, but it's unlikely Bana would be considered for the role now.
American Assassin author Vince Flynn had someone very different in mind to play Mitch Rapp before Dylan O'Brien was cast. Rapp made his debut in Flynn's 1999 novel Transfer of Power, where the special operative was given the simple task of saving the President after terrorists take over the White House. Rapp feels like a cross between the three Jacks: Ryan, Reacher and Bauer. The character is a blunt instrument and within the world of the books, is often the last line of defense between civilians and terrorist attacks.

The film American Assassin with Michael Keaton is becoming a hit on streaming after seven years.
In 2017, American Assassin premiered in theaters, and it wasn't a major success at the box office. It grossed $67 million, which was considered to be a disappointment with the film's $33 million budget (and additional marketing costs) in mind. Critics were also a bit mixed on the film, giving American Assassin a Rotten Tomatoes score of 34%, though its audience score is considerably higher at 60%. Per Screen Rant, the film has also just seen a resurgence on Netflix, finding a new audience for the action-thriller seven years after it underwhelmed with its theatrical run.

American Assassin is making a comeback on streaming platforms after being initially dismissed by critics and audiences. The 2017 thriller, starring Michael Keaton and Dylan O'Brien, has surged in popularity on Netflix, currently ranking as the #1 movie domestically. Despite its initial disappointing box office performance and lack of major awards, American Assassin is now finding success and gaining recognition.
American Assassin is making a comeback after years of dismissal by critics. The 2017 thriller starred Michael Keaton and Dylan O'Brien and was based on the book by Vince Flynn. The movie was somewhat of a disappointment when it was first released, as it made only $67.2 million on a budget of $33 million. It failed to win any major awards and seemed destined to fall into the realm of forgotten movies.

Mitch Rapp readers might prefer Olympus Has Fallen over American Assassin due to its similarity to Rapp's debut novel, Transfer of Power. Olympus Has Fallen essentially became the Rapp movie fans wanted, showcasing similar action and character beats. Despite their similarities, author Vince Flynn did not pursue legal action against Olympus Has Fallen or White House Down.
Fans had to wait many years for the character's big screen debut in 2017's American Assassin, but the best Mitch Rapp movie actually arrived years earlier. The Vince Flynn Mitch Rapp books have been compared to the likes of Jack Ryan or Jack Reacher, but they are their own unique blend of political thriller and action flick. Rapp is a special operative who specializes in taking down terrorist threats against America, with the character having debuted in 1999's Transfer of Power.

Seraphim Falls is now a hit on Netflix, ranking ninth in the streamer's top 10 list in the U.S. for the week of Feb. 5 – 11. The movie, which stars Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson, was a box office flop, earning only $1.22 million. The decline in the popularity of the Western genre and the film's mixed reviews likely contributed to it's box office failure.
Seraphim Falls, Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan's Western flop, is now ranking in Netflix's top 10 list. Released in 2006, Seraphim Falls is directed by David Von Ancken, telling the story of a former Confederate soldier who embarks on a mission to hunt down a Union officer after the war has come to an end. The film's reviews weren't terrible, but it was a disaster at the box office, earning only $1.22 million on an estimated budget of $18 million.

Michael Keaton's career has gone through many different phases, from comedic actor to dramatic performer. Despite initial box-office failures, some of Keaton's films, like "Jack Frost" and "American Assassin," have gained popularity and found success later on. "American Assassin," starring Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton, has experienced a resurgence in popularity on Netflix, leading to speculation of a potential sequel or television series.
Michael Keaton has had many different lives throughout his interesting and lengthy career. His career has gone through so many incarnations over the past 30 years that most people who are under the age of 30 are probably unaware or have forgotten that Keaton first gained stardom in the 1980s as an effusive, fast-talking comedic actor in the films Gung Ho, Mr. Mom, and Night Shift.

The 2013 blockbuster Olympus Has Fallen already used up American Assassin 2's best potential sequel hook. Olympus Has Fallen's White House siege idea is very similar to the first Mitch Rapp novel, Transfer of Power. The producers of American Assassin considered adapting the book Kill Shot for a second movie, which didn't ultimately happen.
American Assassin 2 could have potentially adapted one of the best Mitch Rapp books, but a 2013 action blockbuster already used the concept. The Mitch Rapp books by Vince Flynn follow the titular special operative, who rather aggressively tackles any terrorist threat facing America. Flynn's pulpy political thrillers felt custom-made for the big screen, but the road to an eventual Mitch Rapp movie was far from smooth. Producers originally planned to make Consent to Kill the first entry in a new series, with Colin Farrell or Chris Hemsworth being eyed to star.

“Wonka” reigns again on the VOD charts, but the week’s real star is Amazon/MGM’s “American Fiction.” Driven by its five Oscar nominations and continued success at the box office, it reached #2 at Apple TV/iTunes on Saturday and is currently #4. Not bad for a racial satire that’s grossed $17 million to date.
It suggests the film will earn substantially more than its theatrical take, reflecting smart strategy: While Amazon makes movies for streaming, it recognizes (like Apple) the value of making VOD its first at-home platform. It’s also a good argument that the Netflix Mo of deemphasizing theatrical and skipping VOD misses opportunities to get awards and audience traction.
“Oppenheimer” (Universal) repeats as #2 on two charts, though its reduced price keeps it from making Vudu revenue-driven list. Christopher Nolan’s Oscar frontrunner has been the strongest film since its home-viewing debut three months ago, now sustained by Oscar nomination-leading total.

Ansel Elgort, Dev Patel, and Manu Bennett are among the potential actors who could be perfect choices to play Mitch Rapp in an American Assassin reboot. Chris Hemsworth was originally the first choice for the role of Mitch Rapp, but now Liam Hemsworth or Sam Worthington could be considered. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Robert Pattinson, and Karl Urban are other actors who could bring their own unique qualities to the character of Mitch Rapp in a reboot.
It's interesting to speculate how Mitch Rapp of American Assassin fame could be revitalized with a reboot that takes advantage of the many possible casting choices for the character. Released in 2017, American Assassin didn't get a sequel, under-performing commercially and critically, but with such a rich legacy of author Vince Flynn's books featuring Mitch Rapp as a protagonist, the opportunity to revive the character is ripe for the taking. American Assassin film made significant changes from the book, including an origin story for Mitch Rapp and a central villain. Movie added nuclear bomb threat not present in the book, creating a ticking clock for the action. Mitch's girlfriend dies in a fictional terror attack in the film, while the book uses a real-life event as motivation for his revenge.
Warning! Spoilers for the American Assassin book and movie ahead.
The American Assassin movie was the first Hollywood production to take a stab at adapting Vince Flynn's espionage novels starring the character Mitch Rapp, and made some significant changes to the book along the way. Released in 2017, the film follows the beginning of Mitch Rapp's career as a terrorist-hunting one-man-army for the C.I.A., beginning with his revenge-fueled efforts to take down Jhihadist terrorist cell responsible for a devastating civilian attack that killed his high school sweetheart. Mitch Rapp saves the day by tracking down and killing the mercenary Ghost, who planned to nuke the Sixth Fleet. The ending sets up Rapp's plan to assassinate General Rostami as revenge for his role in the nuclear attack. Hurley has a change of heart and saves Rapp in the finale, thanking him for saving him while redeeming himself for what happened to Ghost.
American Assassin's ending sees Mitch Rapp saving the day before wrapping up one final loose end. Based on the bestselling Mitch Rapp book series, American Assassin opens with the title character's fiancee being killed during a terrorist attack. Rapp then dedicates himself to hunting down the group responsible, and his efforts see him recruited by the CIA for their black ops unit, Orion, headed by Michael Keaton's gruff Hurley. American Assassin's failure at the box office can be attributed to its mediocre critical performance, with a 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie's unoriginal storytelling, following a cliché revenge arc, failed to offer anything fresh to audiences seeking a new twist on the genre. The film's limited budget of $33 million hindered its ability to deliver the grand set pieces typical of the action thriller genre, resulting in a lackluster visual experience.
2017 spy thriller American Assassin could have heralded the arrival of a major new action franchise, but there are several reasons why the movie ultimately bombed at the box office. Boasting an impressive cast, including The Maze Runner's Dylan O'Brien, Taylor Kitsch, and Michael Keaton, the movie seemed to have all the ingredients to guarantee success. Unfortunately, its failure was not just a disappointment on its own terms, but also stalled the studio's plans for a wider series.

American Assassin 2 never happened due to the first film's underperformance both critically and commercially, failing to launch a franchise. Mitch Rapp continues to be a central character in the book series, written by Kyle Mills after Vince Flynn's passing. Mitch Rapp has appeared in 22 out of the 23 books in the series, with the most recent installment, "Code Red," published in 2023.
A sequel to American Assassin never got made, but there are plenty of other Mitch Rapp stories to enjoy in book form. Adapted from the Vince Flynn novel of the same name, the Dylan O’Brien-starring action thriller American Assassin was primed to launch a new movie franchise. But a sequel never got produced and the first movie was promptly swept under the rug. The movie picks up with Rapp as a young black-ops recruit at the CIA, who’s called on by an aging Cold War veteran to prevent an impending nuclear war.

American Assassin is not based on a true story, like many other spy movies in the genre. The movie is based on Vince Flynn's 2010 novel of the same name, serving as a prequel to the character Mitch Rapp. Despite the film's disappointing performance, the character of Mitch Rapp continues to be popular in print.
While the 2017 action-thriller American Assassin includes real-life elements like the CIA, it's less clear whether the movie itself is actually based on a true story. Like many entries in the genre, American Assassin involves a global threat and explosive action. While real espionage can involve similar circumstances, many spy movies – including those featuring the CIA – often elect to tell a completely fictional story rather than retelling an actual case.

It’s a weird month on Netflix in February; one that will probably require you to be open-minded about the shows and movies you’re willing to consume on the service.
There are quite a few library TV series arriving this month, for example. If you’re ready to start binge-watching Monk, My Wife and Kids, or acclaimed show Warrior, you’re in luck, as those complete seasons will be available. The Blacklist season 10, Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, Brooklyn Nine-Nine seasons 1-4, and Young Sheldon season 6 will also be hitting the ‘Flix.
In terms of what’s new, there’s a ton of foreign language content and true crime stuff, but original English language stuff will largely be unscripted fare like Love is Blind, which is back for a new season. There are a few bits and bobs on the way outside of that, though. Netflix’s animated movie Orion and the Dark will debut,...

The long-awaited reboot of the cult classic fantasy film ‘Highlander’ is finally moving forward, with Henry Cavill set to star as the immortal swordsman. The project, which has been in development for years, is helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski and produced by Lionsgate.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate launched sales at the American Film Market for the reboot, which is expected to have a budget of over $100 million and start production in 2024. The studio is targeting a 2026 release date, but no official date has been confirmed yet.
The original ‘Highlander’ film, released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Scottish warrior who discovers he is one of a rare breed of immortals who can only be killed by decapitation. He must fight against other immortals in a centuries-long battle for “the Prize”, a mysterious power that grants the last survivor the ability to shape the world. The film...

Seven years have gone by since John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski signed on to direct a reboot of the 1986 classic Highlander (watch it Here), and the filmmaker has been focused on making John Wick sequels while developing the new Highlander. But now John Wick seems to be taking a little break, so it looks like Stahelski might finally have some time to bring sword-wielding immortals back to the screen. Deadline reports that Lionsgate will be presenting Stahelski’s Highlander project to potential buyers at the upcoming American Film Market, looking for partners that will help them recoup the film’s budget, which is said to be over $100 million.
Two years have passed since Henry Cavill of Man of Steel and The Witcher signed on to star in the film, and Cavill remains attached to the project.
The original Highlander had the following synopsis: When the mystical Russell Nash kills...

The protagonist of Knox Goes Away, starring and directed by Michael Keaton, is one of the most low-energy hired killers in cinema history. There’s reason for this: early on audiences discover that John Knox is suffering from a form of dementia––one that moves much faster than Alzheimer’s, he is told––that will cause him to start losing his memory in a matter of “weeks, not months.” That news would be difficult for anyone, but it’s especially problematic for someone whose livelihood depends on his abilities to act decisively, move covertly, and always cover his tracks.
So it’s not going to be easy for Knox to finish off his career as a hitman and cash out. Worse yet it’s also not easy for audiences to become invested in that process. Knox Goes Away is a sub-par effort that may prove of interest to fans of the actor,...

Director Wes Ball initially rejected Dylan O'Brien's casting as Thomas in the Maze Runner movies because of O'Brien's Teen Wolf hair. O'Brien's role in Fox's 2013 comedy The Internship impressed the studio, leading Ball to reconsider and eventually cast O'Brien as Thomas. The Maze Runner movies helped establish Dylan O'Brien as a franchise lead in Hollywood, elevating his career and opening up more opportunities.
The Maze Runner movies almost did not star Dylan O'Brien as Thomas, as his casting was originally rejected for a rather weird reason. Fox launched the young adult movie franchise based on James Dashner's novels of the same name in 2014. The original Maze Runner movie introduced audiences to Thomas and the rest of the characters in the Glades as they attempt to escape the maze and learn the truth about the world and their pasts. It proved to be a lucrative franchise for Fox, as...

Jamie Foxx's Day Shift sequel gets a promising update from director J.J. Perry. Released on Netflix back in 2022, the film tracks Bud Jablonski (Foxx), a diligent father using his routine job in the San Fernando Valley as a front to hunt and kill vampires. The cast of Day Shift also includes Dave Franco, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Karla Souza, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, and Snoop Dogg. After a strong performance on the streaming service and positive reactions from audiences, who enjoyed the movie's blend of horror and comedy, anticipation for a potential Day Shift follow-up has been building.
In a recent Corridor Crew video, Perry briefly discusses some of his upcoming projects and touched on the Day Shift sequel. The director reveals that a second film is still something he wants to work on, and notes that he is aiming to get a writer from John Wick:...

Netflix is on the cusp of taking down a wide selection of movies and TV series.
The streaming service removes numerous titles each month, but without fanfare; unless you happen to select the thing that’s about to leave, you will have no idea there’s a limited amount of time left to watch.
Fortunately, we’ve compiled a list of every movie and TV show being removed from Netflix in April 2023.
We’ve aggregated all the impending removals from Netflix in the UK and US, which we’ve signalled below. If there isn’t a territory listed next to the title, then it will be leaving both.
Find a full list of every film and TV show arriving on Netflix this month here.
Nb: We put this list together with help from What’s on Netflix.
