Netflix is dropping only 8 series and movies the rest of June 2025
Image
Netflix fans can breathe easily the rest of the month. There isn't much going out, and a few more things coming in. Usually, at the end of the month, lots leave, but not in June 2025.

In fact, there are only eight titles leaving, and only a few that are loads of people's favorites. American Sniper and Bradley Cooper have their fans, of course, but the film is far from Cooper's best. (Netflix makes an interesting choice of having a film with a slightly related title - Blood Will Tell - leave on the same day.)

Other than that, subscribers should not be too upset. That will change on July 1, however. The mass exodus more than makes up for the few that are going away at the end of June.

What is leaving Netflix the rest of June?

If you like the Ocean's films, for instance, get ready to say so long.

Netflix is dropping 18 movies and series this week
Image
For some sad reason, Netflix has chosen to delete more shows than normal in the third week of the month. While 18 series or movies leaving the streaming isn't nearly as bad as the end of any given month, it's still a lot.

Perhaps the biggest loss of the week is that the first eight seasons of Dexter are leaving. There have been two sequels to the series, Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, but neither of those is available on Netflix either.

The first three seasons of The Equalizer are going away, too. The Queen Latifah-led series has five seasons total, but there will be no more. The show was canceled after its fifth season, and the finale aired on May 4, 2025.

Here’s What’s Leaving Netflix in June 2025
Image
Here’s another look at what’s leaving Netflix in the United States soon. This is your full guide to all the movies and shows set to leave the platform. That includes Netflix Originals, Sony and Universal movies, and other popular titles.

If you’re wondering why these shows and movies are leaving, the reason is simple. Netflix doesn’t own most of them. It rents them from big studios like Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros. When those rental deals end, the titles leave, sometimes after a month, sometimes after a few years. Even some Netflix Originals leave when their licenses run out. So if you’re wondering whether your favorite movie or show is leaving Netflix next month, here’s a full list:

Which Shows & Films Are Leaving Netflix This June?(Photo Credit –Netflix)

Netflix users are in for a rough June as a wave of beloved titles is set to vanish from the platform. The cuts hit hard and wide, starting June 1 and continuing through the month, affecting everything from action-packed blockbusters to children’s classics.

Batman Bids Farewell

It begins with a quiet goodbye to 100 Days with Tata, and quickly escalates with the removal of heavy hitters like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises. This is undoubtedly a painful blow for fans of Gotham’s caped crusader. However, Bruce Wayne is not the only one saying farewell.

Family favorites like Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom are also making their exit, leaving parents and little ones with fewer options. The early wave of removals includes Burlesque, Closer, Magic Mike Xxl, Cult of Chucky,...

Owen Wilson Sports Comedy 'Stick' Gets a First Look
Image
Owen Wilson is taking to the golf course for the upcoming sports comedy Stick, which has received a first-look ahead of its June 4 release on Apple TV+. The streaming service is teeing the series up for a debut that will see three episodes drop at once, followed by one new episode every Wednesday until the 10th and final episode releases on July 23.

The images (seen below) reveal Wilson's character, Pryce Cahill, "an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer" whose career "derailed prematurely 20 years ago" (per Apple TV+). In the show, he returns to the green to mentor Santi, "a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom," played by Peter Dager. According to the show's official synopsis, Cahill's mentorship role comes at a turbulent time in his life as his marriage has broken down, and he also now finds himself unemployed after being fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store.

In addition to Wilson and Dager,...

“Whoever writes like this is a demon”: Comedian Katt Williams Rips Stephen King to Shreds and Fans Are Nodding in Agreement
Image
For decades, Stephen King has been the undisputed king of horror, scaring the socks off readers with stories that make you double-check your locks at night. Even Katt Williams, the comedian who never holds back, enjoys the stories written by King.

Williams’ hilariously unfiltered comments about Stephen King set social media ablaze. Some fans clutched their well-worn copies of The Shining in defense, while others nodded along, finally feeling seen. But what exactly did Williams say that had everyone howling? Let’s break it down.

Father Figures Ending Explained: Who Is Kyle & Peter's Real Father?
Image
Warning! This post contains spoilers for Father Figures.

Owen Wilson and Ed Helms' 2017 comedy Father Figures was added to Netflix in November 2024, and the movie's ending is full of a number of shocking twists and turns. Father Figures' cast is star-studded, although the movie did not perform well when it was released seven years ago. Even now, Father Figures has a 17% critic score and 26% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, there is a case to be made that Father Figures is underrated, not only because of the cast but also because of the movie's themes. While it may not rank among Owen Wilson's best movies, Father Figures has heart, which the movie's conclusion confirms. In fact, the ending of Father Figures is arguably where the movie shines the most.

Father Figures Movie Spoilers: Here's Who the Twins' Real Father Is
Image
2017's Father Figures is now streaming on Netflix as viewers learn who the real father is by the end of the story.

Starring Loki's Owen Wilson and The Hangover's Ed Helms, Father Figures tells the tale of fraternal twin brothers who believe their father passed away when they were kids. As it turns out, their mother lied about that due to not knowing who their biological father actually was, leading them to want to find out that fact.

The film hit theaters on December 22, 2017, and only grossed $25 million at the box office on a $25 million budget. Since it hit Netflix in June 2023, new viewers have explored this R-rated comedy and its countless twists.

Blumhouse’s Horror Movie With 22% Rt Score Finds Netflix Success After Setting Unfortunate Box Office Record For Studio
Image
After it failed to garner any traction at the box office, a 2024 Blumhouse movie is finding renewed success on Netflix. The indie studio best known for their horror output has enjoyed something of a mixed bag in the past couple of years when it's come to both the critical and commercial reception to their movies. For every record-breaking M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy's, there's also been a near-franchise-destroying The Exorcist: Believer and lackluster Halloween Ends.

2024, in particular, has been something of a rockier year for Blumhouse. Having hoped to recapture the January release success of M3GAN, the horror short adaptation of Night Swim proved to be a critical misfire, albeit a modest box office success. The studio followed it up with four other releases, including the similarly panned Imaginary and the James McAvoy-starring English-language remake of Speak No Evil, which was a critical and commercial hit. There was...

Father Figures Cast & Character Guide
Image
The 2017 R-rated comedy movie Father Figures is a creative road movie that follows two adult brothers as they attempt to find their biological dad. After learning that their mother had lied to them their entire lives, Kyle and Peter are determined to figure out who their father is and set off across the country to find him. Along the way, they meet various men who could potentially be their father, and the brothers bond over their various adventures, creating a tale that is both funny and, at times, heartfelt.

Though the R-rated comedy received a lackluster response from critics and audiences and was not financially successful upon release, streaming audiences are now reassessing the movie and are realizing just how funny it actually is. Father Figures' quirky and underrated plot is supported by a cast of A-list stars that includes seasoned comedy veterans and expert dramatic actors.

Owen Wilson’s 17% Rotten Tomatoes Disaster Is Finally a Streaming Win, 7 Years After Flopping at the Box Office
Image
It’s been a quiet year for Owen Wilson in 2024 after reprising his role as Mobius in the hit Disney+ series Loki and starring as Father Kent in Haunted Mansion in 2023. However, just a few years before the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world, Wilson teamed up with an Office star for a critically maligned box office flop that has found success on streaming years later. Wilson stars alongside Ed Helms and Glenn Close in the 2017 comedy Father Figures, which has laughed its way straight into the Netflix top 10, currently sitting in the #5 spot just ahead of The Piano Lesson, the drama starring John David Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. Father Figures earned scores of 17% from critics and 25% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and only earned $25 million at the box office on a budget of $25 million.

Owen Wilson’s Last Comedy Movie From 7 Years Ago Is Now Trending On Netflix & It’s Extremely Underrated
Image
Owen Wilson and Ed Helms's 2017 comedy movie Father Figures is now available on Netflix and it deserves more respect than its reputation would suggest. Father Figures follows two adult brothers who decide to search for their father, whom they have never met. Their adventure leads them to several men across the country, providing laughs for audiences along the way. Though Father Figures was unsuccessful at the time of its release, streaming audiences are finally able to watch the movie, giving it new life.

Father Figures is far from the first R-rated comedy for both Wilson and Helms, so putting their talent together was the perfect choice. After starring in several R-rated drama and thriller movies in the late 1990s, Wilson became one of the most well-known comedic actors in the early 2000s, especially R-rated comedies like Wedding Crashers. Though Father Figures was not well received on its release, it's surprisingly underrated,...

‘The Piano Lesson’ Makes Netflix Top 10 but Below Other Originals, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ Leads iTunes
Image
He’s back, and this year before Thanksgiving, and even as #1 at iTunes.

We’re talking about the Grinch. Two Universal hits featuring the Dr. Seuss character — one live-action (Ron Howard’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” starring Jim Carrey), one animated (“The Grinch” from 2018) — both have returned to top 10 VOD lists. And with a vengeance — “How the Grinch” is #1 at iTunes (which ranks by transactions) but even more impressively #7 at Fandango. With that site calculating by revenue, the $3.99 rental cost at 20 percent of the normal $19.99 level (eight of their 10 films have that), it means a huge volume that likely made it tops in transactions there.

Netflix originals continue their hot hand, with five of the top six positions on their U.S. movie chart Monday. “The Piano Lesson,” from August Wilson’s play and featuring Danielle Deadwyler’s award-touted lead performance, is #6 at the moment after debuting at #5 over the weekend.

94-Year-Old Star's Action Movie With 98% Rotten Tomatoes Score Becomes Streaming Success
Image
The 94-year-old June Squibb's new action movie with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score has become a streaming success. Beginning her career on Broadway in 1959, Squibb's first film role didn't come until the age of 61 in Woody Allen's Alice. During the 1990s and early 2000s, she went on to have supporting roles, but never starring, in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence, Frank Oz' In & Out, Martin Brest's Meet Joe Black, Alexander Panye's About Schmidt, and Todd Haynes' Far from Heaven.

In 2013, Squibb reunited with director Alexander Payne for Nebraska and broke through in a big way, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. For the remainder of the 2010s and into the early 2020s, Squibb continued to appear in movies such as I'll See You in My Dreams, Love the Coopers, Other People, Father Figures, Blow the Man Down,...

Katt Williams: 10 Best Movies And TV Shows
Image
Katt Williams' best movies and TV shows mostly see him starring as a version of himself, almost always as comedic relief. Williams is a stand-up comedian who made his name by performing in comedy clubs around the United States, and made a big name for himself by 1999. This caught the attention of Hollywood and television producers, who brought Williams in to apply his trade in various films and TV shows, and it didn't take long for Williams to become a star.

He got his first movie role on Friday After Next, the third movie in that franchise, and then joined forces with Tracy Morgan to take on a featured role in his sitcom. From there, Williams ended up taking several roles as a comedy supporting actor and guest star in films and TV shows while continuing to work on his stand-up comedy career. While most of Williams' movies have received poor critical reviews,...

Family Switch Cast & Character Guide
Image
"Family Switch" is a chaotic Christmas comedy film that puts a twist on the body-swap genre, with the entire Walker family switching bodies. Jennifer Garner shines in her role as the meticulous and organized mother, Jess Walker, who learns that her way isn't always the best for everyone. The supporting cast in "Family Switch" includes talented actors like Ed Helms, Emma Myers, and Brady Noon, who deliver comedic performances that add to the fun of the film.

Netflix's Family Switch brought together some excellent talent to tell the story of the Walker family, with several additional stars getting in on the action as well. The film puts an added twist on body-swap films like Freaky Friday, 13 Going on 30, 17 Again, and The Change-Up by making the entire Walker family switch bodies with another member. This means that the central actors of Family Switch not only had to master...

2022 Cannes Film Festival preview: All 18 films fighting for the Palme d’Or and each director’s festival history
Image
After being cancelled in 2020 and then delayed in 2021, the Cannes Film Festival is finally back on track for May 2022 on the French Riviera. The 75th installment of the international cinema showcase will take place from May 17 to May 28, and there will be 18 films competing for the coveted Palme d’Or, the festival’s top prize. Last year that honor went to the French thriller “Titane,” directed by Julia Ducournau. As of this writing several details are still to be announced including who will be on this year’s jury and who will be serving as jury president after Spike Lee presided over last year’s program.

A filmmaker’s previous track record at Cannes can sometimes give us an idea of who’s in a good position to claim the Palme. For instance, seven of this year’s entries in the official competition come from directors who have previously won...

Disney+ New Releases: March 2022

It’s been a grueling three months since Marvel fans had a hit of the MCU in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home and even longer since the last Marvel Disney+ series (Hawkeye). Thankfully that unbearable drought will be coming to an end with Disney+’s list of new releases for March 2022.

This month is highlighted by the arrival of Moon Knight on March 30. Oscar Isaac stars as the latest Marvel hero, a man with a fracturing personality and awesome power imbued by the Egyptian god Khonshu. Tonally, this seems like a really divergent take from the studio and the trailers promise some compelling mystery and bone-shattering punches if nothing else.

The Rookie : Le flic de Los Angeles (2018)
The Rookie Season 4 Episode 14 Review: Long Shot
The Rookie : Le flic de Los Angeles (2018)
Randy is a hoot!

It was a mostly fun hour and action-packed too, and that's thanks to Randy the Bounty Hunter/Skip Tracer, who served as a definite highlight of The Rookie Season 4 Episode 14.

The hour also had some odd storytelling for Lucy.

Flula Borg was such a delight to watch during the hour. He had an absolute ball playing the happy-go-lucky, excitable, acquired taste of Randy's character.

Randy was a colossal moron, but he was lovable and funny enough to pull it off. His series of quips and spontaneous behavior made things interesting, and it was fun to see Harper and Nolan united in their exasperation over the human equivalent of a labrador pup.

Randy is not cut out for bounty hunting. For a first day on the job, he did the absolute most. The man got shot twice and locked himself in a sex coffin all in the...

The Horrors of Modern Life – Broken Down by Director Gregorio Graziosi in Ventana Sur Title ‘Tinnitus’
Image
Brazilian Gregorio Graziosi’s “Tinnitus” is co-written by Andrés Julian Vera and Marco Dutra, a Locarno best director winner for “Good Manners”; its Dp is Rui Poças, whose credits include Lucrecia Martel’s “Zama” and upcoming “Tabu.”

Its score is from David Boulter, who played keyboard on Claire Denis’ “Bastards,” collaborated on the score of her “High Life.”

Such credentials will make, almost inevitably, for one of the most polished of entries at Copia Final, Ventana Sur’s pix-in-post competition, where it screens on-site at the Cinemark Puerto Madero on Wednesday.

Developed at the Cannes Festival’s Résidence, “Tinnitus” looks set to weigh in as high art in the service of what on paper may seem a classic sports comeback narrative involving Marina, a high-board synchronized diver, who suffers a serious diving accident caused by tinnitus. She is encouraged by her substitute Teresa, she stages a comeback, though still terrorized...

The Tandav row has once again brought to focus the debate over whether Ott content in India should be censored. While many netizens support the idea, others wonder if censorship is the only way to end controversy.

Tandav, a drama series set against the backdrop of politics, was recently slammed by several people who claimed that it provokes communal disharmony and hurts sentiments of the Hindus.

"I urge honorable Minister Shri @PrakashJavdekar, please ban Tandav web series and order to make all webseries under censor board. #BanTandavNow," tweeted one user.

Another wrote: "Ib ministry should stop broadcast first n ask them to get censor certificate. Infact Ib should constitute a separate board for censorship for all the Ott content."

Another netizen simply said: "Censor Ott Platforms!! #Tandav."

One went on to suggest: "There should be a censor board for Ott, Tandav has crossed all the limits.. Agenda driven show by...

Bliss Trailer Traps Owen Wilson & Salma Hayek in a Mind-Bending Matrix
Image
Amazon has released a new trailer for the sci-fi/thriller Bliss. This is the latest from filmmaker Mike Cahill (Another Earth), with Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek leading the cast. As we can see from the trailer, this looks to be a mind-bending tale of love that blurs the lines between simulation and reality.

The trailer wastes little time in casting doubt on what is real and what is not real, as Owen Wilson's Greg recounts a memory that feels real to him, though he is not certain that is the case. He then proceeds with a busy day at work before meeting, quite literally, the woman of his dreams at a bar. Things get strange in a hurry as Wilson's character comes to find that he's been living in a highly-advanced simulation. The idea is that these harsh simulations can make one appreciate reality. As one might imagine, things don't go as planned.

Hollywood Slams Golden Globes for Categorizing ‘Minari’ as Foreign Language Film: ‘Enough of This Nonsense’
Image
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s category guidelines ignited an outcry Tuesday when it was announced that “Minari” would be classified as a foreign language film for Golden Globes voters.

Directors, writers and actors including Lulu Wang, Phil Lord, Celeste Ng and Daniel Dae Kim condemned the organization’s longstanding policy, saying it was time to change the rule.

The HFPA stipulates that unlike the Oscars, the contenders in the Golden Globes’ best drama or comedy/musical categories must feature at least 50% English dialogue.

Just one year ago, Wang’s “The Farewell” and Pedro Almodovar’s “Pain And Glory” picked up multiple nominations at the Golden Globes but were excluded from consideration for top Globes honors. And despite its history-making Academy win, Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” was sidelined by the HFPA’s guidelines.

While “Parasite” and “Minari” both feature Korean-speaking characters, “Minari” centers on a Korean immigrant family who...

Golden Globes Roasted for Shutting ‘Minari’ Out of Best Picture Race: ‘Sad,’ ‘Racist,’ ‘Complete Bulls–‘
Lee Isaac Chung
Nominations for the 2021 Golden Globes won’t be announced until February, but the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is already under fire over rules that exclude Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” from the Best Picture race.

As first reported by Variety, the A24 drama will be relegated to the Best Foreign Language Film category because it is primarily in Korean. A similar situation happened last year with Lulu Wang’s “The Farewell,” which was ineligible to compete in the Best Picture category at the Globes because of its mostly Mandarin dialogue.

The HFPA did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment. The Golden Globe eligibility rule states that any film with at least 50% of non-English dialogue goes into the Foreign Language category. Because of this longstanding rule, “Minari” distributor A24 had no choice but to enter the film in the Best Foreign Language Film category in November.

The initial...

Claire Denis Reteams with Juliette Binoche and Vincent Lindon for Next Film
Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Robert Pattinson, and Zoë Kravitz in The Batman (2022)
If nothing worthwhile comes from The Batman, we can at least thank it for giving us another new film by Claire Denis. Production was supposed to kick off this year for her Denis Johnson adaptation Stars at Noon, starring Robert Pattinson and Margaret Qualley, but the shoot was recently pushed to April 2021 most certainly to accommodate Pattinson’s schedule for his superhero blockbuster as shooting was delayed due to the pandemic (and a positive Covid test from its own star), but now continuing through February 2021. In the meantime, Denis is going to kick off production on another film, reteaming with two of her greatest collaborators.

The director will reunite with Juliette Binoche and her Bastards star Vincent Lindon for a new film. Word first popped up earlier last month and we’ve been waiting for further confirmation on the project before reporting, which has now come in courtesy of a benefit auction listing.

Little Bastards consists of material from 2002 through 2009. The duo — Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince — previewed the album with the 2009 demo “Raise Me.” The accompanying creepy video features Mosshart singing across raw guitar riffs, her hair shrouding her face.

‘Somebody Feed Phil’ Season 4 Gets Premiere Date From Netflix
Phil Rosenthal in Les tribulations culinaires de Phil (2018)
Are you hungry for more “Somebody Feed Phil”? Good, because Netflix has set the premiere date for the fourth season of Phil Rosenthal’s adorable travel series.

The “Everybody Loves Raymond” creator announced the news himself, telling fans in a video posted to Twitter on Tuesday that Season 4 will premiere Oct. 30.

The third season of “Somebody Feed Phil” launched May 29 and consisted of five episodes, with Rosenthal and friends traveling to Marrakesh, Chicago, London, Seoul, and Montreal.

At the time of Season 3’s premiere, Phil told TheWrap to expect Season 4 of his Emmy-nominated series to hit some time this fall or winter. And that (yummy) scoop has proven to be accurate.

“We filmed Season 3 and 4 back to back. We filmed from August through the middle of January,” Rosenthal told TheWrap in May. “So we got it in just under the wire [before the pandemic]. So Season 4 will come out in the fall or the winter.

TIFF Review: Spring Blossom is a Brisk, Entertaining Debut from Suzanne Lindon
Suzanne Lindon by Nathaniel Goldberg for Vogue France
It takes great maturity and confidence to make a film about the emergence of a young woman’s sexuality that also dares to ask complex, provocative questions while understanding there are no simple answers. Suzanne Lindon is such a filmmaker, and her brisk, entertaining debut Spring Blossom is such a film. Lindon directed, wrote, and stars in this remarkably assured story of a 16-year-old Parisian who falls for an older man. Though Blossom is a bit slight at just 73 minutes and sometimes prone to posing too many questions, this TIFF entry heralds the arrival of a major international talent.

Lindon is just 20 years old. Blossoms is not only her debut a writer-director, but also as an actor. As she explains in the film’s press notes, “I was 15 and it was the summer before starting high school and even though I was happy at school, with my friends or my family,...

ALTBalaji and ZEE5's upcoming dramedy Who's Your Daddy is already becoming the talk of the town due to its hilarious storyline and interesting star cast. Adding to the excitement, the two Ott platforms have dropped the second poster of the web series that is sure to raise anticipation levels up a few notches.

The drama features an amazing cast that includes the evergreen villain of Bollywood Rahul Dev, the handsome and famous YouTuber Harsh Beniwal and young actor Nikhil Bhambri who never fails to charm audiences with his chocolate boy looks.

The poster shows this terrific trio seems to be planning some sort of mischief as they face a lady right in front of them. While Harsh Beniwal has the look of annoyance on his face, Rahul Dev and Nikhil Bhambri sure seem to be enjoying the eye candy that they see.

The dramedy, featuring Rahul Dev and Harsh Beniwal as the father-son duo,...

Cinematographer Lawrence Sher Shoots Smash Comedies and Big Blockbusters Alike
Lawrence Sher at an event for The Oscars (2020)
For cinematographer Lawrence Sher, the focus has always been on the director. That philosophy has carried Sher’s imagery to millions of filmgoers, including his latest work set to hit screens this year: “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” directed by Michael Dougherty, and “Joker,” directed by Todd Phillips, who has also collaborated with Sher on all three “Hangover” films. “Whatever success I’ve achieved comes from the fact that I care as deeply about the movie as the director does,” says Sher. “My No. 1 job is to take some of the burden and stress off of their shoulders, and I do that with thorough preparation.”

Sher took an unusual route. An economics major at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, he bypassed film school, moved to Los Angeles and started out as a camera assistant on commercials and music videos. He took any opportunity to shoot, took thousands of stills using motion picture stocks,...
