Exclusive: After six years as a manager at More/Medavoy, Stephen Belden is going it alone, having launched his own management and production company, Death Wish Entertainment.

“The dream,” Belden said, “has always been to work with a core group of clients that I absolutely adore as artists and as human beings and to be able to produce projects with and for those clients. With this company I get to focus on exactly that and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Belden explained that the name Death Wish is “a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that it’s harder than ever to be working in the entertainment industry right now,” underscoring at the same time that he “couldn’t be more optimistic about what the future holds for the up and coming generation of actors, writers, directors, and producers that I work with.”

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to those at his former company.

The movie Casper premiered 28 years ago, meaning the cast has had plenty of time to embark on a lot of new projects since then. The film starred classic '90s actors Christina Ricci and Devon Sawa as the film's leads. However, Casper also featured Hollywood royalty like Cathy Moriarty and Eric Idle.

While many of the film's actors took on projects with a similar spooky Halloween atmosphere to Casper, others leaned more into diverse comedy roles. Christina Ricci portrayed one of Casper's lead characters, Kat Harvey, whom Casper had a crush on. Ricci has always had a penchant for darker, spooky roles, as she also starred in the '90s Addams Family films.

Exclusive: Ryan Phillippe (American Murderer), Emile Hirsch (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Mena Suvari (American Horror Story) will topline Kalahari, a new action thriller from Vertical, which has wrapped production.

Vertical fully financed the pic and has taken North American rights, with Voltage Pictures locking down rights for all international territories, preparing now to present the film to buyers at Cannes.

In the film written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil (Collide), a young couple is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert aboard a rickety plane after an extremist militant group threatens their lives. Piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Hirsch), the plane loses power and crash-lands in the middle of an animal preserve populated by lions, leopards and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group must fight for their survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

Exclusive: Steven Ogg, notably recognized for his roles on The Walking Dead and Westworld, has signed with Buchwald for representation.

Most recently, Ogg played the role of Pike in TNT’s post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller Snowpiercer opposite Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs. He also had pivotal roles in the Emmy-nominated series Better Call Saul and Amazon’s The Tick.

On the film side, Ogg can be seen in Antoine Fuqua’s Apple TV+ thriller Emancipation opposite Will Smith and Ben Foster, and in the cyberpunk indie The Dresden Sun. The actor has also appeared in Ani Simon-Kennedy’s Tribeca drama The Short History of the Long Road and Carl Strathie’s sci-fi pic Solis, among other titles.

Ogg is also well known for his portrayal of the Trevor Philips character in the Grand Theft Auto video game, for which he was nominated for Best Performer at the BAFTA Games Awards.

Fresh off Netflix’s hit “Wednesday,” Christina Ricci is starring in the upcoming sci-fi movie The Dresden Sun, and Deadline has shared the above first-look image this afternoon.

Vmi Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales on the film, Deadline also notes.

Above is a first look at Ricci who is coming off Netflix hit Wednesday and Showtime series Yellowjackets.

Penned and directed by Michael Ryan, the film is produced by Tyler Lockamy and Michael Ryan at Archetype Pictures.

The sales deal was negotiated by Jessica Bennett, COO Productions and Acquisitions for Vmi, and Michael Ryan and Tyler Lockamy on the producing side.

The film is currently in post-production. Vmi will be introducing the project to buyers at the upcoming EFM.

Exclusive: Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill) and Steven Ogg (Westworld) have signed on to star alongside Zak Steiner and Greer Grammer in the upcoming feature The Ghost Trap from Khanlarian Entertainment.

The film currently in production in Maine is based on the novel of the same name by K. Stephens. It tells the story of Jamie Eugley (Steiner), a young lobsterman struggling with the grinding responsibilities of a head-injured fiancée (Grammer) and a mounting trap war with a rival lobstering family. While Hook will be playing Happy, a potential love interest of the protagonist, details as to Ogg’s role haven’t been disclosed. Pic’s ensemble also includes former Miss Utah, Rachel Slawson.

James Khanlarian is directing from Stephens’ script, with Khanlarian Entertainment and Filmtrax producing. The producers on the project are Peter A. Couture, Simon Fawcett, Larry Mortorff, Candace Cason, Steiner, Khanlarian and Stephens.
