The mobile puzzle game phenomenon may be past its prime, but die-hard fans are still stacking in 2025—with new Star Wars events and collectible plushies keeping the lights on.
The Mobile Hit That Never Fully Fizzled
Once a global sensation, Disney Tsum Tsum has quietly held onto a corner of mobile gaming culture—even as the rest of the world moved on. The Japan-born match-3 puzzle game, which launched back in 2014, hit a peak with $2.5 billion in total revenue by 2019, thanks to a mix of mobile earnings and plushie-powered merch sales. But in 2025, it’s more of a niche pastime than a mainstream juggernaut.
Even so, it’s not dead. Far from it.
The Disney Tsum Tsum Wiki still logs regular monthly updates, including themed events and new characters. The latest? A Star Wars Tsum Tsum Event in May 2025, hot on the heels of April’s “Tsums Challenge: The Dark Scene.

Lakeshore Records is set to release Hell Of A Summer—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on April 25, 2025, with music by Jay McCarrol. The score showcases synths and guitars that evoke both camp vibes and distinctly ominous atmospheres. We’re excited to exclusively share the first track from McCarrol’s score, which features a haunting yet hopeful rendition of the fictional Camp Pineaway’s camp song.
In the film:
24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Fred Hechinger) arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking counselors off one by one.
Listen now:
Hell Of A Summer is the directorial debut of actors Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk, who also star in Neon film, which is out now on VOD.

Kathryn Newton is shining her scream queen crown as we speak, preparing to join Samara Weaving in the upcoming Ready or Not sequel!
Deadline reports that the actress is set to re-team with Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who directed Newton previously in last year's vampire horror film Abigail. Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett also directed Ready or Not and other popular recent horror movies like Scream 5 and Scream 6.
Released in 2019, the first Ready or Not was an absolute blast of a movie. It did very well at the box office, grossing over $57.6 million on a $6 million budget and it was heavily praised by critics and audiences alike. Ready or Not helped catapult Weaving into the realm of modern-day scream queens and she's appeared in several since (including getting the coveted opening kill in Scream 6). Next she'll star in the comedy thriller Borderline with Ray Nicholson.

Frodo and Samwise from The Lord of the Rings franchise have an enduring brotherly relationship that no one can ever forget. Full of love, respect, and boundless loyalty, their friendship is one of the most powerful bonds in cinematic history and leaves fans of the franchise envious of the kind of support and trust they place in each other.
Similar kinds of familial devotion and love can be found across all media, especially anime. Exceptionally strong bonds between friends are actually an ongoing trope among many shōnen and shojo series, old and new, because the “power of friendship”—as cliche or corny as it may sound—is one of the most precious elements that a show can write into its story.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
Horror movies may not often get a whole lot of respect, critically speaking. For whatever reason, they are often treated as a lesser form of entertainment. It's only the rarest of rare genre offerings that can go on to become embraced both critically and commercially, with Jordan Peele's "Get Out" serving as a shining example from relatively recent times. That's an outlier though. One undeniable truth though is that these movies are a reliable backbone for Hollywood studios, delivering consistent profits against relatively low investments. Good movies, bad movies, it often doesn't matter.
Hardcore horror fans will tell you that the number of bad movies far outweighs the good in any given year. It's about searching for that diamond in the rough.

David Tennant's latest series, Rivals, has made a strong impression on streaming charts. The series landed in the Top 10 shows across all streaming platforms last week.
Rivals is an adaptation of Jilly Cooper's 1988 novel of the same name which follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as their longstanding rivalry comes to a head. Tennant makes quite a departure from his most notable role as the Doctor in Doctor Who, starring in the steamy drama as Baddingham, with Alex Hassell opposite him as Campbell-Black. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Lisa McGrillis, Alex Hassell, Nafessa Williams, Emily Atack and Danny Dyer. The series made its debut on Disney+ and Hulu on Oct. 18, and Reelgood recently confirmed the series cracked the Top 10 spot in the weekly Top 10 Shows Right Now list for all streaming platforms from Oct. 24-30.

One of the best recent horror comedy movies of recent years was 2019's "Ready or Not" -- and now it's coming back for round two.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that a sequel, currently bearing the apt title "Ready or Not 2," is in development. Samara Weaving, who starred in the original as unlikely heroine Grace, will return alongside directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett and executive producer Chad Villela. Earlier this year, Weaving had teased that she was "all in" for a "Ready or Not" sequel.
In "Ready or Not," Grace marries into the old money Le Domas family via their golden boy son Alex (Mark O'Brien). As part of a family tradition, Grace and her new in-laws have to play a game, chosen by random card draw. Grace draws Hide and Seek, the unluckiest card of them all. You see, the Le Domas ancestors made a pact with the demonic Mr.

At its heart, CBS' hit reality competition, Big Brother, has always been about strategizing, making friends, and doing well in competitions. The competitions on Big Brother have become iconic, with favorites like Otev, Bb Comics, and Hide and Go Veto. But a few recurring competitions arent as entertaining as others, dont seem entirely fair, or have just gotten plain old and fans are tired of seeing them.

The horror genre continues with original stories, sequels, and adaptations - like The Watchers. Dakota Fanning's horror movie debut began in Hide and Seek in 2005 with her standout performance. Watching Hide and Seek after The Watchers highlights Fanning's growth as an actress in the horror genre.
The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning, and its a great reminder to watch her horror movie debut from 2005. The horror genre keeps going through a great run with original stories, sequels, reboots, and adaptations of preexisting works, and falling into the latter category is The Watchers. Directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan in her directorial debut and based on the 2022 novel of the same name by A. M. Like many entertainers during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Japanese songwriter and musician Yoshiki wanted to find a way to use his artistry to lift people’s spirits, particularly fans who wrote to him about being in a dark place during that time.
“The intention was to spread love,” Yoshiki said during a taping of THR Presents, powered by Vision Media. “At that time there were so many amazing artists doing Zoom call-like stuff from the living room or something like that, but I wanted to do something bigger than life.”
The result is the film Yoshiki: Under the Sky, a music documentary three years in the making that features performances of the composer with acts from around the globe including American Edm-Pop duo The Chainsmokers, violinist Lindsey Stirling and singer Nicole Scherzinger.

A big part of living in the Big Brother house is competing in competitions, from Head of Household (HoH) to reward challenges and, of course, the Veto challenge. That competition, often one of the most important of each episode, confirms who has the power to veto one of the nominations by the HoH. Big Brother has featured plenty of Veto competitions over the years, including many that are recurring ones. Some have become fan – and player – favorites, like Otev, Bb Comics, and Hide and Go Veto. While others aren't really that exciting.

Venice Days pic “Beware of Children” and Sundance alumnus “Charter” are among the five Nordic films nominated for the coveted Nordic Council Film Prize.
“Beware of Children” was directed by Norwegian scribe/helmer Dag Johan Haugerud and produced by Yngve Sæther. The drama is set in the aftermath of a tragic event in a suburb of Oslo, where the teenage daughter of a prominent Labour Party member seriously injured her classmate, the son of a high profile right-wing politician, during a school break.
“Charter,” meanwhile, world premiered at this year’s Sundance festival and marks Swedish director/screenwriter Amanda Kernell’s second feature following “Sami Blood.” “Charter” is a character study of a flawed mother who impulsively embarks on a perilous attempt to reconnect with her children after leaving them with their father to start a new life in Stockholm. “Charter” was produced by Lars G. There are few surefire successes in television. It just so happens that with its new releases for May 2020, Hulu almost certainly found itself one. May 8 sees the debut of all eight episodes of Solar Opposites, the latest sci-fi animated effort from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. This is a brand new story featuring a family of aliens crashing to Earth and learning to live amongst the rest of us weirdos. But the animation style and sci-fi themes hew so closely to Rick and Morty that there’s no way this won’t be a hit.
On the off chance Solar Opposites doesn’t set the world ablaze, Hulu has some other intriguing content lottery tickets for May. The Great premieres on May 15 and is a comedic period piece about Catherine the Great starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. You can’t accuse Hulu of not taking big swings this month!

The marketing for this week’s episode of Doctor Who largely revolved around its proximity to the run’s climax, with the trailers saying things like “Just one more week to go until the exciting two-part finale!” Now that season 12 episode 8, “The Haunting of Villa Diodati” is here though, we can say that this promotional tactic did a huge disservice to what has to be one of the most confidently told stories of this entire era.
First of all, after sidelining the sinister for much of his tenure so far, showrunner Chris Chibnall has treated us to two scary episodes two weeks running now. Following on from the eerie “Can You Hear Me?”, with its disembodied figures and nightmares, “The Haunting of Villa Diodati” serves up a classic haunted house story, but with a Doctor Who twist. Geoffrey Owens received one of the SAG Awards show’s biggest rounds of applause Sunday for his segment during the “I Am An Actor” segments that traditionally kicks off the broadcast.
Owens, a theater actor and former regular on The Cosby Show, saw his name resurface last fall when a picture of him working at a Los Angeles-area Trader Joe’s circulated on social media. Some saw his job as a fall from grace, but many more came to his defense saying he was simply trying to make ends meet while continuing to pursue his acting career.
That theme surely resonated in a room full of SAG-aftra actors tonight, most of whom have been in similar positions as they’ve chased their acting passions.
“Somewhere in the middle of the road of my life, I found myself in the dark wood of unemployment and debt, but instead of switching careers like a sane person,...

Birthday shoutouts go to Kevin Alejandro (above), who is 38, Russell Crowe is 50, John Oates is 65, and Jackie Chan is 60.
Our thoughts are with the family and generations of fans of screen legend Mickey Rooney, who died today at the age of 93. He’ll always be the one true Fallout Boy to me.
In more sad news, model and ally Peaches Geldof has died at the age of 25.
Supreme Court won’t hear anti-gay photographer case. Nom heads just exploded.
I Was Broken, and Matt Bomer Put Me Back Together. Is there anything he can’t do?
As I’m sure you’ll agree, The Asylum is one of the great production companies in Hollywood. They’re responsible for most of the iconic Syfy Channel movies, including Sharknado, Almighty Thor, Nazis At The Center Of The Earth, American Warships, Atlantic Rim, Titanic II, and of course, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (to name just a few.

At last night's live-read of the Breaking Bad pilot at L.A.'s Lacma, Jason Reitman addressed the screenwriters in the audience first: "Hide the knives tonight. This is so good you'll never want to write again. You fucker, Vince." Breaking Bad is the first TV show to be included in Reitman's Live Read series, in which the director puts together readings of classic films; he most recently staged an all-female Glengarry Glen Ross with Robin Wright, Catherine O'Hara, and Carla Gugino. "This is a little scary," Reitman said. "Normally when we're doing one of these, we're doing a movie so old that most of the people are dead by now. This time, not only are they alive, but they're here with us tonight." Indeed, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, and series creator Vince Gilligan were all in attendance to watch a new ensemble reinterpret the first episode.

Bad people in scary movies always say, "You can run but you can't hide." This looks like one of the more frightening examples of that ominous warning.
TNT's Mystery Movie Night series continues tonight, and we've got an exclusive sneak peek at this week's installment, Lisa Gardner's 'Hide' (premieres Tues., Dec. 6, 9Pm Et). The small-screen adaptation stars Carla Gugino as D.D. Warren, a Boston police detective who's called to investigate a mysterious buried chamber outside of an abandoned mental hospital.
Spooky already, right? Add the mummified remains of six long-missing girls and she's got a major case to crack. Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Kevin Alejandro and Bridget Regan also star in this dark and twisty tale -- take a peek and tell us what you think.

Legend Of The Seeker’S Bridget Regan is a Person Of Interest
Person of Interest has snagged the star of Legend of the Seeker, Bridget Regan, for a guest-starring role. It’s not her first guest-starring role this season; you may have seen her in an earlier episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. She must have a thing for procedurals.
While her episode of PoI is currently unscheduled, we know thanks to TVLine will be playing Wendy, “a charming/funny/sexy/sassy hairstylist from Brooklyn who learns that one should always look a gift horse in the mouth.” If you’re familiar with the idiom “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” then you’ll know it means to never be ungrateful for a gift. Wendy seems to be learning the opposite lesson. Perhaps that implies she will receive a less than helpful present. Right now I’m picturing a bomb in a box,...

Not unlike his former co-star Lisa Edelstein, House‘s Peter Jacobson (aka Dr. Taub) is dropping by CBS’ The Good Wife this fall. Might the two cross paths in the courtroom?
Unfortunately, they will not. Jacobson will appear in Good Wife‘s Season 3 premiere (airing Sunday, Sept. 25 sans Edelstein), where his character will be involved in the trial of a Muslim student accused of murdering his Jewish classmate.
In other Good Wife news, Vulture blog reports that Broadway star Bill Heck has been cast as the “much younger Legal Aid” — and potential love interest! — to Christine Baranski’s Diane.

The FanGirlTastic offices are abuzz this morning with the news that badass actress Carla Gugino will star as a badass cop in a hopefully badass adaptation of author Lisa Gardner's best-selling suspense thriller, Hide. Well, perhaps it's not the whole office that's abuzz. Maybe it's just me. But, trust me, I'm excited enough for everyone.
In Hide, part of a new weekly TNT series of dramas based on true-crime tales and fictional mysteries, Gugino's tough Boston Police Detective D.D. Warren is on the case when the mummified bodies of six missing women are found in an abandoned mental institution. Things get complicated when all clues point to a murderer who seems to have risen from the dead.
Hide, written by Janet Brownell and directed by John Gray, is one of six contemporary crime flicks made for the TNT Tuesday Night Mystery franchise set to air in November. It's...
