Leading actor WOW.

The Best movie I have seen Jarred Harper in.... I want more.

I am normally not a fan of B type movies, but this one I enjoyed. Big romance buff at heart; and this movie made me tingle. And I really enjoyed the plot twist.

Jarred Harper is the exact attractive young actor that needs more promotion and better roles. I look forward to watching Jarred perform in A type movies in the future.

I know he is also directing as well; I am crossing my fingers he is close to paying the dues it takes to make it to the big time.

Hopefully, Jarred can be the actor/director he wants to accomplish in Hollywood or wherever the industry takes him.

Could have been more interesting

The story is about 2 couples who are friends with each other on a trip to Egypt and what ensues there. Another couple joins the trip surprisingly and then there are affairs among these. The plot could have been better. The screenplay is a bit weak. Sometimes the scenes are stitched in a strange way. Most of the acting is weak too except the Egyptian woman itself who somehow reminds me of Sofia Vergara. The chemistry between two other couples is minimal and they fight over petty things. In the end they just wrap up quickly by revealing all the mysteries at once without any drama or anything and it saves the day for the protagonist. It might be watchable if you want to but definitely not worth the 9 or 10 stars given here.

Authentic Egypt!

What an unusual find! I saw this at the LA festival and was so glad I had an opportunity to experience it. This movie was actually filmed in Egypt and is very authentic. It brought me back to my travels there with the beautiful scenery and music. I could practically smell the spices and food in the market scenes! The plot has enough twists and complexity to be good on its own. The characters are believable and acting quality is better than I expect from an indie film. The scenery was an unexpected treat and video quality was much higher than most indie films. If you want to experience Egypt without your passport, this is a film to see.

A gripping suspense/love story set in Egypt

I came across this movie at a film festival in Los Angeles. It's an indie movie and I wasn't sure what to expect. I found it an excellent combination of photography, acting, story and location. It has a film noir flavor with the characters facing questions about friendship, love and betrayal. I highly recommend the movie to people that are tired of the usual Hollywood big-movie offerings. I read that it was recently filmed entirely in Egypt, and the authentic feeling of being on the Nile, with the story taking place at the amazing ancient temples, in the desert, in the market streets -- all had a powerful impact on my enjoyment of this movie. It's a better movie than last year's "Death on the Nile" - which wasn't even filmed in Egypt!

Weak acting and poor story lines

What's up with all the 9/10 and 10/10 ratings?! The movie got weak scenario and poor writing -- pathetic story lines. The three main male characters do NOT know how to act and deliver properly their lines. You can tell from their faces while speaking their dialect. The only beautiful thing about this movie is simply Egypt, the sceneries, and the female leading actress 'Yolanthe Cabau'. She is absolutely 'naturelle' in her acting and I believe will have a good promising movie roles may be in a Bond movie. Other than that do not waste your time watching this movie, unless if you want to fall asleep.

Eqsuisite storytelling, cinematography, and acting.

A great romantic thriller film set in Egypt. The cinematography was a breath of fresh air with all of the shots filmed on location in Egyptian cities. The landscapes paired with grounded talented acting and storytelling made for an enjoyable film through and through. I personally get excited when I see production teams go the extra mile and film on-location without the aid of green screens. The ensemble cast was also nicely curated, a perfect melting pot of personalities and abilities. The director Marlin Darrah does it again by telling a tale of Americans getting into dramatic events abroad in a foreign land!

One of the worst things I have ever watched ...

The only possible explanation for the 8 to 10 ratings for this movie is they wrote it themselves... I'm sorry, you can't make a movie good just saying it's good. The acting is poor, the plot is weak, the characters act as they don't know how a human being works... Maybe it was something produced by aliens studying the humanity and trying to recreate it, but they can't do a good job. It reminded me also of some Kawai app videos, some of the worst things I have ever seen in my entire life. B type movie would be a compliment to this movie, I would say it's more like a Z movie. Don't waste your time watching it!!!

Captivating and visually stunning.

All I can say is WOW! I loved this movie and I absolutely loved the turns and twists. And the locations shown in Egypt and along the Nile River were wonderful.

The story was intriguing, as I was always trying to figure out the motivations of the various characters. Were they true friends? What is the value of friendship? What happens when confronted with overwhelming temptation in a faraway land? What would you do when someone blackmails you? Do you fight or run or ? And the two lead actors did a great job with their roles. The camera loves the those two actors. It's fun to watch the emotional turns on their faces, throughout the movie.

Thank you for sharing this film and I will highly recommend it to my friends.

script needed fixing up.

On mometu streaming. An adventure starring... no-one i have heard of before. Two couples take a cruise up the nile river, but all is not well. In spite of the happy go lucky musica. The two couples thought they had a private tour, but now there's another couple aboard. And the girl is a huge flirt. With a jealous boyfriend. Some pretty bad acting, a terrible script. Bad direction. And the subtitles rarely match what the actors are saying. Avoid this one! So many inappropriate lines of dialog. Where are these people from?? They even dare one guy to climb to the top of the mast. Best friends? Really? Everyone is awful and mean to each other. Except for the male and female leads... they seem destined to fall for each other. In spite of dylan's defense that he's happily married. Danger, will robinson. Directed by marlin darrah. He's won tons of film fest awards. The scenery of egypt is beautiful, but that's the best thing about this one. Hard to follow, and frustrating to watch. The script needed a rewrite.

One of the best Indy movies I have seen in a long time

What a excellent film. The great photography and location by it self was worthy of awards, but the story and acting was top notch also. One of the best Indy movies I've seen in a long time.

I highly recommend the movie to anyone who likes travel, friendship and betrayal.

The lead actress., Yolanthe Cabau did a fantastic job in her role. Her acting, looks and dancing were spot on for a temptress.

Massimiliano "Massi" Furlan, who I have seen in other movies, never seems to fail in his roles. Once again, he turned in a convincing performance. You can't help but not trust his character as Darius.

Nine stars for the Lead Actress alone, and for the whole film

Saw this at a local Film Festival in the LA area. It was quite a surprise, the film is head and shoulders above the rest of the indie fare out there these days, most of which is exploitative and seems like one silly horror film after another.

This one had a real plot, actual scripting, and above all, a Lead Actress that I couldn't take my eyes off of, no matter what else was going on in the shot. She is one of the most beautiful and charismatic women that I have ever seen in any film, and the fact that it was in a low-budget project says a lot for the Director and Producers of the film. If there's any justice in the world, this woman is going to be a Bond Girl for the next sequel coming down the pike.

The entire film takes place on a boat in the Nile River, which is another great asset to the production -- it makes me wonder why more people aren't taking advantage of these kinds of tours, where you get right down to experiencing the actual local people and locations, and exploring the temples and statues of Egypt up close -- more than just the Sphinx and Pyramids.

Kudos to the Director who seems to know how to make the most out of a budget and takes us on an amazing journey to a completely unknown culture, and an experience unlike any others on the screen. It compares very favorably to the other big release which it will inevitably be compared to, Death on the Nile, with its expensive cast, but this little scrappy project packs a lot into a very well-executed package.

An intriguing suspense film beautifully shot in Egypt

If you love "Death on the Nile," this film is your cup of tea. If you like smart films with unpredictable twists and turns, you would find it attractive. If you are fond of exotics places, this movie stimulates your imagination. If you want to tap into deeper meaning beyond only beautiful images, this movie teaches you a lesson about human weakness.

Suspenseful, visually beautiful, entertaining, and in-depth. In almost every aspect, you would find "An Egypt Affair" is a hidden jewel !

And, unlike the recent movies that claim to be made in Egypt but actually made in other countries, "An Egypt Affair" was really shot in Egypt, by a group of dedicated artists. It's probably the most authentic film involving Egypt made by Americans. For that reason alone, it's worth a medal !

Better than I expected!!!

I had been watching several of Jarred Harper's mini series movies and found this one on his list. I was pleasantly surprised of how well the filming was done! The scenery and set was beautiful and really makes me want to visit Egypt. I was glued to the tv the entire time and couldn't predict what was going to happen! The acting was a little campy at times but overall I really really enjoyed it! Would gladly watch it again! I think this is one of Jarred's best performances yet and I can't wait to see more of his work in the future! I recommend this movie to anyone wanting to watch an entertaining drama that's not too over the top!

Make this movie a HIT!!

Director Marlin Darrah is one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood. After years of traveling the world (200+ countries) and producing documentaries in most of them, he has switched his talents to feature films. His third is An Egypt Affair, a thriller certainly worthy of your time.

In all of his movies, Marlin pulls together the beauty and mystery of the country and uses it to frame some very good thrillers.

A little secret here: Marlin got inspired to make features during the covid pandemic. Apparently he had a prophetic dream in which he was told that it was his time, meaning his time to make feature films. He needs to make a movie about that prophecy because it is sure to play out.

In the meantime, watch An Egypt Affair. It's worth the time.

Beautifully shot with a suspenseful romantic twist

The cinematography in this movie is beautiful. It captures the exotic landscape and various aspects of culture of Egypt. I felt like a tourist traveling around with the group of friends and experiencing a little slice of Egypt. Plus I never expected the ending! Definitely recommend watching!

This film made me want to travel to Egypt some day to experience it for myself. Films like this inspire me to travel more and this director has many films based on traveling the world and tourism. His last film followed a group of people traveling by boat through the Amazon! I look forward to watching more of his films and get a taste of traveling the world.
