In the two decades since wrapping up his 10-season run as neurotic paleontologist Ross Geller on the beloved NBC sitcom “Friends,” David Schwimmer has branched out across genres and mediums.
Following the series finale of “Friends” in 2004, Schwimmer, unlike his costars, decided to move from Los Angeles back to his native New York City, and briefly stepped away from the spotlight. He has spent the intervening years chasing his own creative pursuits: returning to his first love of theater and conquering the West End and Broadway stages; voicing Melman the giraffe in the “Madagascar” franchise; appearing in some niche indies; and parlaying his experience as an episodic director into helming his own features.
Since becoming a father in 2011, “I’ve really been enjoying being a parent and not really wanting to leave home that much, to be honest with you, so I guess I became a bit pickier in terms...

David Schwimmer and two key creatives behind Goosebumps have discussed the show giving him his first lead horror role. The Disney+ anthology series is inspired by the children's book series of the same name by R. L. Stine and tells a different family-friendly horror story every season. The upcoming Goosebumps season 2, which is subtitled The Vanishing and follows teenage siblings who uncover a dangerous secret hidden in their new home, boasts a brand-new ensemble cast that includes Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, Jayden Bartels, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, and Francesca Noel.
ScreenRant had the opportunity to interview Goosebumps showrunner Hilary Winston, co-creator Rob Letterman, and star David Scwhimmer ahead of the new season. Letterman and Winston revealed that they were already thinking of going with a comedy star for the role because "comedy and horror are so linked," but casting the Friends alumnus felt like a long shot.

Courteney Cox's Horror Comedy Series (That Was Canceled Too Soon) Hits Max as Fans Wait for Scream 7
After several months of negotiations, legacy star Courteney Cox will officially return for the upcoming installment in the Scream franchise, Scream 7. However, the film is more than a year away from its theatrical release, but Max has the perfect replacement.
While fans wait to see what will happen next to Cox's Gale Weathers, the only legacy star to have appeared in all Scream installments so far, Warner Bros. Discovery offered the second-best option. On Jan. 1, Courteney Cox's two-season series Shining Vale premiered on Max. While it's quite different from the famous slasher franchise, Shining Vale is a satirical comedy horror that will keep viewers entertained.

Time Bandits (2024) on Apple TV+ is a unique fantasy series with a strong cast, honoring the source material from the 1981 film. Lisa Kudrow leads the ensemble cast as Penelope, with Kal-El Tuck playing Kevin, bringing new life to the story. The adaptation allows for expansion of the original plot, with changes and additions that enhance the Time Bandits universe.
The 2024 Apple TV+ show Time Bandits is a fantasy adventure series with a strong ensemble cast that helps make it unique while honoring the source material. The series is based on the 1981 Terry Gilliam Monty Python movie of the same name. Both the series and the film share the same premise and core story. Time Bandits follows an 11-year-old history nerd named Kevin who travels through time with a group of bandits when they accidentally open a portal in his bedroom.

It’s showtime — literally and figuratively — for season three of Only Murders in the Building. The Emmy-winning series returns to Hulu on Aug. 8 with a whodunit to savor. To be sure, the third season will be remembered as one the show’s best, thanks to a plot that primarily revolves around the death of an actor starring in a theatrical show that Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) is producing.
Toss in several standout performances that swing from campy to tragic by the likes of recurring guest stars Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Jesse Williams, and Matthew Broderick, and — we say this lovingly — you don’t want people to stop dying around Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver, and Mabel (Selena Gomez), the best yet most unlikely amateur crime solvers to hit the screen.

It’s a well-known fact that Meryl Streep is the most Oscar-nominated actor of all time, with 21 bids (and three wins) dating as far back as 1978. What many may not realize, however, is that her storied history with the film academy began after she had already clinched an Emmy for her lead performance on the NBC miniseries “Holocaust.” Indeed, she has won as many Emmys as she has Oscars, and she could soon nab at least a fourth TV trophy since her upcoming projects include Apple TV+’s “Extrapolations” and Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.”
Before she received her first Emmy, Streep made her small screen debut opposite John Lithgow in a 1977 installment of PBS’s “Great Performances,” entitled “Secret Service.” This was essentially a filmed stage play presented as a two-hour movie. Her first proper telefilm was “The Deadliest Season,” in which she portrayed the wife of...

In 1994, the same year that she began playing the smart and charming Monica Geller on Friends, Courteney Cox appeared in a guest role on Seinfeld. The sitcom sees Jerry Seinfeld portraying a fictionalized version of himself as a comedian in New York City dealing with tiny frustrations alongside Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), George Costanza (Jason Alexander), and Kramer (Michael Richards). Several other actors known for their comedic talents appeared in single episodes of Seinfeld, including Carol Kane, Megan Mullally, and Lauren Graham.
While she has had small roles on several sitcoms, playing Serena DuVall in three episodes of Web Therapy and Dr. Maddox in three episodes of Scrubs in 2009, Cox's post-Friends career has included a mixture of horror and comedy. The actor has played Pat Phelps in Shining Vale, Gale Weathers in the Scream franchise, and Jules Cobb on Cougar Town. Cox's Seinfeld appearance is as humorous as many of her most well-known characters.

black-ish creator Kenya Barris found the perfect person to star in his first Netflix series: himself.
Barris will lead Black Excellence opposite Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), TVLine has learned. The single-camera comedy, which kicks off the executive producer’s lucrative multi-year production deal with the streamer, was ordered to series Friday.
At first glance, it appears that Barris will mine his family’s experiences for the new series the way he did for black-ish. Black Excellence‘s official logline states that it is “inspired by Barris’ irreverent, highly flawed, unbelievably honest approach to parenting, relationships, race and culture” and...

There may be no Friends reboot or revival in the works, but NBC is bringing David Schwimmer back to its Thursday night line-up during the 2018-19 season.
The former Friends star has been added to the cast of the Emmy-winning comedy's tenth season.
Schwimmer will play a new love interest for Grace, but that's all the peacock network has revealed thus far about the new addition.
It's certainly a good idea to bring Schwimmer back to the network, and we can't wait to see what funny scenarios the new character he's playing finds himself in.
The actor has kept himself busy since Friends went off the air back in 2004. He has had appearances in 30 Rock, Web Therapy and an awards-worthy performance on American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Adaptations of existing intellectual property are popular both domestically and worldwide, whether it’s “Hang Ups,” a British adaptation of Lisa Kudrow’s “Web Therapy” starring Stephen Mangan, or the numerous recent projects based on existing novels.
Red Arrow Studios Intl. brings season four of “Bosch,” based on the novels by Michael Connelly, to Mip this month.
“The bigger the IP is, the bigger the name of the writer is, the bigger the chances are of success around the globe,” says Red Arrow Intl. president Henrik Pabst. “When you speak to buyers on the scripted side, the moment you can bring in a built-in audience it is clearly an upside. The channel or platform doesn’t need to start from scratch. The brand already exists and with social media you reach everybody.”

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Who has been the best guest star on a scripted show?
Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com
Wayne Brady showing up in body armor and riding a horse on Syfy’s post-apocalyptic disaster disaster “Aftermath” needs to be mentioned somewhere in this critics’ roundup, so here it is. But I’ll point out two from intentional comedies that come to mind. Timothy Olyphant’s short run on “The Grinder” as himself was fantastic and if I didn’t mention this my coworker Kaitlin would kill me. But my pick goes to David Duchovny, also as himself, on “The Larry Sanders Show.” We’d largely known Duchovny for...

The next stop on the long, multi-platform journey of Web Therapy will be in Spain. According to Deadline, the web series-turned-tv show will come to Spanish shores thanks to a partnership between FremantleMedia and digital TV platform Movistar+.
Web Therapy stars Lisa Kudrow as Fiona Wallace, a therapist who conducts her sessions over video chat and demonstrates a complete lack of self-awareness.
