Starz has announced the movie and TV titles that will be available on the service in April. The Starz April 2025 schedule includes new episodes of Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4.

The Starz app expands its movie slate in April with an exciting mix of films, including the thriller Both Eyes Open, starring Gail Bean, Joy Brunson, and Taye Diggs; the comedy Strays, featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, and Will Forte; and the video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s, starring Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, and Piper Rubio.

Exclusively available on the Starz app this month, fan-favorite films including 8 Mile, American Gangster, Belly, The Nutty Professor, That’s My Boy, Poetic Justice, and Friday Night Lights join the lineup.

Not only was she an iconic face in the Harry Potter films, but she also dated current Stranger Things heartthrob Jamie Campbell Bower for about three years from 2009-2012.

After getting her start in Harry Potter, she moved on star in a few independent films such as Before I Sleep, The Sea, and After the Dark, and even performed on stage.

She dipped her toes into directing as well, having graduated from the University of the Arts London in 2012 with a degree in filmmaking.

To base a film on making philosophical ideas is a tricky thing. First it has to be aimed at a big enough audience who may not understand the concept, but then it could alienate the ones who truly understand it. The Philosophers is a movie that raises a few interesting questions, but proves in the end where true flaws are found.

When a philosophy teacher challenges his class of graduating seniors with choosing ten people who would survive in an underground shelter to repopulate the earth once an apocalypse hit it raises many questions. One of the most important one being just what influence the teacher himself is having.

We recently spoke to James D’Arcy but were limited to a brief chat as part of a wider junket. So we were pleased to have the chance now to expand upon that, and have a prolonged conversation with the actor/director, as we discussed sci-fi flick The Philosophers – which was released on digital this week.

The film was actually made a number of years ago, so we asked D’Arcy about his memories of the project, and whether he watches his old movies back. He also talks about keeping in touch with the cast, and what he took from playing such a philosophical role. He also speaks about teachers that left an indelible mark on him, and he comments too on his recent move into directing, and what it has changed about his outlook on this industry.

A philosophy class playing out moral quandaries makes for a fun sci-fi fable in theory, but poor acting and flawed logic let it down in practice

John Huddles’s sci-fi thriller unintentionally succeeds in replicating the exact experience of playing “would you rather?” with a friend in a pub, as in it starts out with vague philosophical questions but ends up being utterly ridiculous. And just like the silly game, for the right viewers The Philosophers could be quite a fun watch, despite the sub-par film-making.

The film opens with a sweet love scene between Petra (Sophie Lowe) and James (Rhys Wakefield), shot with an awful Vaseline-like sheen that plagues the entire film’s cinematography. Petra and James meet on a philosophy course, which, for some reason, takes place in Indonesia – and yet most of the students are white. For the final class, their professor Mr Zimit (James D’Arcy) proposes...

The crime thriller was written by Micah Ranum and was slated to debut at SXSW. Saban Films will release the film domestically. Anova Pictures’ Cybill Lui Eppich produced the film. After just one week in theaters around the globe, New Line Cinema's Annabelle: Creation has taken in more than $110 million, not only opening in the #1 spot in numerous markets, including North America, but quickly boosting filmmaker James Wan and producer Peter Safran's Conjuring universe of films over the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. The announcement was made today by Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. Here's what she had to say in a statement.

"We are thrilled with the success of Annabelle: Creation and enormously proud to continue bringing this hugely popular Conjuring franchise to theaters everywhere. We congratulate our colleagues at New Line Cinema, our astute marketing and distribution teams, and everyone who put their collective creative energies together to tell such wonderfully frightening stories for movie audiences around the world to enjoy."

Annabelle: Creation is one of 2017’s scariest films!

Variety reports: “Annabelle: Creation,” which conjured $35 million in its opening to dominate an otherwise lackluster frame last weekend, will wind up the weekend with about $64 million in its first 10 days. The film is the fourth in New Line’s highly profitable “Conjuring” universe and should see the combined worldwide grosses hit the $1 billion mark this weekend, thanks to 2013’s “The Conjuring,” 2014’s “Annabelle,” 2016’s “The Conjuring 2,” and “Annabelle: Creation.” Next up is “The Nun,” starring Taissa Farmiga and Demian Bichir and due out July 13.

In his review, Michael Haffner says “it proudly stands next to The Conjuring films as delivering real scares. What helps with this is making the audience afraid of not just the doll, but of what other being is haunting the house as well as the always hidden mother. It’s a terrifying trifecta that fits perfectly into the ominous surroundings.

As expected, New Line's Conjuring spin-off dubbed Annabelle Creation took the top spot at the box office this weekend with $35 million. The low-budget spin-off has already doubled its $15 million budget, and it's potentially shaping up to be one of the most profitable movies this year. Other newcomers The Glass Castle and The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature both underperformed, leading to weak opening box office numbers.

Box Office Mojo reports that Annabelle: Creation debuted in 3,502 theaters, for an impressive $10,006 per-screen average, with The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature debuting in third place with $8.9 million, with a meager $2,232 per-screen average from 4,003 theaters, behind Dunkirk in second palace with $11.4 million. The Glass Castle opened in ninth place with $4.8 million, earning a $3,337 per-screen average from 1,461 theaters. While Sony's The Dark Tower did managed to take home the box office crown in its opening weekend, it certainly wasn't a convincing win, just barely beating Dunkirk with $19.1 million, coming in under most expectations. This weekend, The Dark Tower box office prospects are looking even worse, facing a tough second weekend that brings in three vastly different movies to theaters, New Line's horror prequel Annabelle: Creation, the Lionsgate drama The Glass Castle and the Open Road Films animated sequel The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature. It seems like a one-week reign at the box office will be all for The Dark Tower, since we're predicting Annabelle: Creation will take the top spot with $40.2 million, easily besting The Dark Tower and the rest of the field.

Don't write this Annabelle: Creation film off because the first movie wasn't that good. That first Annabelle film was rushed into production to capitalize off the success of The Conjuring. But, this sequel is the real deal. This sequel looks like a great film that tells a great story, and I'm totally excited about seeing it! I've heard great things about this film from people who have seen it, and if you're a fan of horror films, you won't want to miss out on this one.

I'm a huge fan of The Conjuring films, but I didn't really care for the first Annabelle spinoff film. It was disappointing and I didn't think it was very good or very scary. But this sequel, Annabelle: Creation, actually looks like it could really be good and it could actually bring terror into people's lives! The trailer doesn’t take long before it delves straight into a dark and supernatural nightmare, After a couple loses their daughter after being hit by a car, her spirit roams their house. Soon realising the spirit wasn’t their daughter after it asked for permission to move into the doll, the spine-tingling, heart-stopping scares begin. The couple opens their own orphanage but soon regret their decision as things go bump in the night and one girl becomes horrifyingly possessed.

Last week saw the return of Pennywise and a terrifying first trailer for the new remake of Stephen King’s It that had the internet hiding behind the sofas. Today it’s the turn of Annabelle, the creepy doll from The Conjuring that is scaring up the web with the first trailer for Annabelle: Creation, which opens this summer.

The first film, released in 2014, was directed by John R. Leonetti and grossed over $256.9million at the worldwide box office from a budget of just $6.5million. And as with many modern horror films, profits and success have led to a sequel which is being directed by Lights Out helmer David F. Sandberg.

Warner Bros. will descend upon WonderCon tomorrow with a 90-minute panel at the Anaheim Convention Center that runs from 4:30 Pm to 6 Pm. The studio hasn't revealed exactly what will be showcased at this time, but earlier today, the studio unveiled the new WonderCon poster for their Annabelle follow-up, which has now been titled Annabelle: Creation. The studio has also shared a trailer preview, getting fans ready for the trailer debuts tomorrow, presumably during the studio's big WonderCon event.

Following its recent showcase at the SXSW Film Festival (check out our impressions here), Annabelle 2 now has a new title, Annabelle: Creation, which seems to tease at showing the origin of its devious doll.

The new title was posted on the film's official Facebook page and shared on Twitter by director David F. Sandberg. A New Line Cinema film, Annabelle: Creation is still scheduled to come out on August 11th from Warner Bros. Pictures.

In recent years, film writer and director John Huddles has been busying himself with several projects, not least his reasonably well-received thriller After The Dark. Yet he nearly came a cropper with his debut feature, 1996’s Far Harbor.

The film, which would go on to star Jennifer Connolly, Dan Futterman and Marcia Gay Holden, originally went by a different title. A title that brought it to the attention of director Steven Spielberg’s lawyers.

Huddles named the movie Mr Spielberg’s Boat, after seeing the bearded-director's then 131-foot yacht anchored at Sag Harbor, in the New York area of the USA. The draft of the film followed the story of a bunch of young professionals who see the yacht anchored off-shore, and production duly began.

Today, we have a new look at dear little Annabelle in a just released photo. She is seen sitting on a bed with Talitha Bateman, who stars as Janice. Janice is obviously concerned that her new playmate is sitting straight up on the bed, looking as mischievous as ever. What did Annabelle do that has poor Ms. Bateman all riled up? Annabelle 2 is set to come out later this year, and the good folks over at New Line Cinema are hoping to build on the following created by the first film, which was a spinoff from James Wan's very successful horror film The Conjuring. The Annabelle doll was introduced in that film, and she sparked enough interest to get her own flick. The first Annabelle made $257 million when it came out in 2014, on a budget of only $6.5 million.

There used to be this creepy-ass doll in my family that we would scare the shit out of each other with. We'd hide it in places and sneak it in places where we'd unsuspectingly find it. It all started when I snuck into my brother's bedroom while he was sleeping and placed it at the end of the bed sitting down staring at him. He woke up the whole house with the wonderful sounds of blood-curdling screams.

Anyway, this new photo that was released for the upcoming horror film Annabelle 2 reminded me of that. If I ever walked into my room at night and a doll like this was sitting up on my bed I'd take it and burn it. It would definitely send chills down my spine! I'm surprised that the poor girl in the photo isn't shown running out screaming like my little brother did.

This time the terror takes place at an orphanage where Annabelle makes her new home of horror, and viewers can witness the next chapter in this demonic doll’s journey when Warner Bros. releases Annabelle 2 in theaters on August 11th.

Moviegoers will have to wait a while longer to see the next film from Lights Out director David F. Sandberg, as Annabelle 2 now has a new summer release date.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Annabelle 2 for an August 11th, 2017 theatrical release. New Line Cinema's follow-up film to 2014's Annabelle (itself a spinoff of The Conjuring) was originally scheduled to come out on May 19th.
