I have known Kartik Aaryan from the time he was seen for the first time in Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Director Luv Ranjan had arranged a screening of the film for me. We were all there to watch what Ranjan (I can’t bring myself to call him Luv) described as a sock-in-the-guts film.

“Sir, aapko bahot achcha lagega. Especially watch out for that boy Kartik Tiwari (I think that’s what Kartik was initially known as). He will surprise you.”

Luv Ranjan, I knew from the time he assisted Suneel Darshan. It’s hard to believe Ranjan comes from Suneel Darshan’s school of filmmaking. To call them poles apart would be an insult to the pole. Just as calling Kartik a revelation would be an understatement.

Taking a look back at the underrated Akaash Vani, which released 12 years ago. Kartik Aaryan was a revelation in the film directed by Luv Ranjan that also featured the wonderful Nushrat Bharucha.

This is Kartik Aryan’s most honest performance. Luv Ranjan’s screenplay takes the lovers from the corny escapades and frigid philosophizing of the college campus to the precipice of heartbreak. Sudhir K Chaudhuri’s fluid camerawork vividly manifests the journey, which is made with ample feeling and remarkable restraint.

In an era where the Gujarati film industry is grappling with limited box office success, there emerges a producer who is altering the narrative – one film at a time. Meet Anand Pandit, a film producer hailing from Mumbai, who is putting money into Gujarati films and increasing the budget with each film.

Pandit recently was in Ahmedabad to celebrate the success party of his latest film ‘3 Ekka’. In 20 days, this Gujarati film has amassed Rs 25 crores. He earlier produced ‘Fakt Mahilao Maate’ that also did well at the box office.

Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who is now gearing up to essay the role of Jyoti in ‘Akelli’, says she never knew she could do so much acting or different roles.

In a conversation with Ians, Nushrratt spoke about playing such roles and making a mark with them. But when she started off, she did not know she could do so much.

The actress said: “When I started I did not know I could do so much acting. I never knew I could do different roles. I started with what was given to me, I read it and tried to have fun with it and do it in a different way.”

“Then I got another script. I tried the same thing and I achieved something.

Actor Kartik Aaryan has revealed his first look as Chandu Champion, the title character of his upcoming biopic on Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. The film, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is slated to release on June 14, 2024.

Mumbai, June 7 (Ians) ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ actress Sonnalli Seygall tied the nuptial knot with her long-time partner Ashesh L. Sajnani on Wednesday. The couple had an intimate Gurudwara wedding ceremony in Mumbai and were surrounded by their family and loved ones.

Mumbai, April 7 (Ians) Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan, who is known for his work in films like ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, ‘Dhamaka’, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ series and ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, will kickstart the shoot of his next film, directed by Kabir Khan of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ fame, next month.

There has been a dearth of rom coms lately. Moreso, post pandemic with the advent of the Ott platforms with unique subjects and genres from across the globe. Even the filmmakers who used to dish out content of this genre have moved on and it is not just the actors. What could an actor do if one is not offered such films!! It appears that Luv Ranjan has become the flag bearer for making light-hearted comedies with a sprinkle of romance. Someone rightly pointed that the industry sure must have romantic scripts doing rounds, but one film needs to click majorly to turn the tide. The actors need to turn their gaze and put their faith in voices of the new filmmakers and writers who have a story to tell. But the point is who’s going to bet on them if the producers no more think rom com as a safe bet!

The women in his films have been manipulative and the men have suffered in their hands.

With his latest rom com, ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, Luv Ranjan seems to be on a remedial course, for this time his female lead is all-independent, modern and carefree but with a solid sense of commitment. For a change, it is the male lead who is a bit of a brat and a tad unscrupulous. Now, coming from Luv Ranjan, this story is definitely a complete turnaround!

Mumbai, Feb 19 (Ians) As his film ‘Shehzada’ is all set to hit the screens, Bollywood’s chocolate boy Kartik Aaryan paid a visit to the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai to seek blessings for the movie. However, his car was towed away as he had left it in a no-parking zone.

The Mumbai Police Twitter handle shared a picture of his Lamborghini and captioned it with the popular monologue from Kartik’s film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is your first lighthearted film in three years. Did you enjoy doing comedy?

I have always loved doing comedy, I started my journey with Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which was a refreshing comedy, today it’s considered a cult comedy . I’m always open to exploring other genres too like I did with Dhamaka and my next Freddy .But comedy is something I started with and I feel most at home with. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is my first theatrical release in this post-covid time and returning back to the big screen with such a complete family entertainer feels good. It’s also my first horror comedy which I have really enjoyed doing.

The actress, who has been to Kerala earlier, could never independently explore the city because either work or family commitments kept her occupied.
