Corsican Noir

If you watch this movie you are likely French-speaking or at most a Mediterranean-connoisseur attracted by the ways of this "little Island", not really French nor Italian (Genoan). If you just found it by chance you might miss a lot of the subtext which is directed to the audience: the tension is always there even when you can't see it, the inner issues of the modern Corsican society are depicted with a certain "finesse" but always expected (though addressing more directly, but partially only, the underlying racism). If you watched other Corsican movies or series (e.g. Mafiosa, which some actors played in) you know what to expect, the relentless corrupting wave of the Corsican "milieu" will wash away all hope. Interesting movie for the ones who know what they are watching.

Intense drama

First, I did not know that, in France, there were women guards in prisons for men. And this since 1983. This story seems to be inspired from actual events. The story telling and acting are above average and the plot riveting. Not an usual drama, especially prison drama. It brings a new light, something really modern, unpredictable. I did not know that in some prisons, here in Corsica, inmates actually watch over guards, and not the contrary. And just imagine a young woman prison guard among very macho Corsican inmates...I won't spoil this movie any further, but believe me, it's really worth the watch, because it proposes an unusual plot. So rare in those days.
