Director Sean Ellis has had an unusual career; if it seems like his fellow Brits, David Mackenzie and Kevin Macdonald have been genre-agnostic, Ellis has taken things a step farther. He remains best known for the deeply affecting drama Metro Manila, which is essentially a foreign-language film. But a few years ago, he tried his hand at horror. He directed the werewolf movie The Cursed, starring Kelly Reilly and Boyd Holbrook, and while the film didn't make much of a dent at the box office, it's climbing up the streaming ranks following its Netflix debut.
According to FlixPatrol, The Cursed was the sixth-most-popular film on Netflix in the United States on July 20, beating the likes of Brick, Penguins of Madagascar, Despicable Me 4, and The Old Guard 2. That's quite a diverse slate of titles for any film to outperform, let alone one that barely got a theatrical release despite being designed for one.

John Malkovich has been cut from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The 71-year-old actor was set to appear in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster as villain Ivan Kragoff/Red Ghost but director Matt Shakman has revealed that his scenes didn't make the final cut as they didn't fit in with the story – which features Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn as the heroic ensemble. In an interview with Variety, the filmmaker said: "There were a lot of things that ultimately ended up hitting the cutting room floor."When we were building a '60s retro-future world, introducing all of these villains, introducing these four main characters as a group, as well as individually, introducing the idea of a child – there was a lot of stuff to balance in this movie and some things had to go ultimately in terms of shaping the film for its final version.

Exclusive: Andy Richter (Conan) and former professional wrestler Kevin Nash (The Punisher) are the newest additions to the cast of Caroline, the dramedy marking the feature directorial debut of Outer Range actress Morningstar Angeline, on which we were first to report.
They join an ensemble that also includes Teri Polo, James Udom, Davida Williams, and Sa’Raya Paris Johnson.
The film follows 11-year-old Caroline (Johnson), a clever, sharp-eyed girl navigating a life of excitement and peril as a shoplifter with her mom Jocelyn (Williams). When Caroline;s estranged father Corey (Udom) — a charming, small-town con artist — gets out of prison and re-enters their lives, things briefly seem to settle. But when the family is threatened over a debt they can’t repay, their fragile peace falters. Desperation drives Caroline and her mom into one last, ill-fated heist.
Richter will play Norman Montana, a well-meaning but deeply insecure and jittery small-town public defender.

A comedy movie starring and written by multiple Saturday Night Live cast members has suddenly become a streaming success over a year after its release. Since its debut in 1975, NBC's long-running sketch comedy show has served as the springboard for 11 feature-length films based on some of the show's most popular sketches and characters, which have seen mixed success. Their first foray into film came in 1980 with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi's The Blues Brothers, which earned over $115 million at the box office against its $27 million budget.
The success of Wayne's World in 1992, starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, encouraged Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michael to produce more film adaptations featuring popular characters. He brought back 1970s characters for Coneheads in 1993, followed by It's Pat, Stuart Saves His Family, A Night at the Roxbury, Superstar, and The Ladies Man. After Killzone, Helldivers 2 Players Want Their Next Crossover to Be With the Penguins of Madagascar
As previously leaked, Helldivers 2 dropped a surprise collaboration with the lost Fps franchise Killzone recently. This epic crossover saw many premium cosmetics, guns, armor sets, and many more. This came after the highly anticipated Omens of Tyranny update, which featured the Illuminate, new vehicles, and melee weapons.

Although Arrowhead was able to make up with the community, players were left wondering about potential crossovers in the future. Fans are curious about which IP will be included in Helldivers 2 next, despite COO Johan Pilestedt’s statement that he doesn’t want to weaken the game with unrelatable partnerships. However, there is one utterly absurd idea that fans have been considering.

Since the franchise began in 2005, Dreamworks Animations Madagascar movies ranked reveals most new movies appear to improve on the last installment in terms of quality. Released in 2005, the animated family comedy Madagascar was an expensive investment that paid off big for Dreamworks Animation. Madagascars $500 million payday proved once and for all that the sillier, less dramatic cartoons on offer from Dreamworks Animation had serious box office appeal that could match that of their competitors, even though the movie failed to impress critics.

John Malkovich has joined Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” in an undisclosed role, Variety has confirmed. The veteran actor joins Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Marvel’s First Family, along with Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, and Paul Walter Hauser.
Malkovich has brought his uniquely off-kilter acting style to bear in a prolific career spanning costume drama (like 1988’s “Dangerous Liasons”), studio thrillers (1993’s “In the Line of Fire”), cutting edge indies (1999’s “Being John Malkovich”), wackadoo sci-fi comedies (2005’s “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”) and animated family films (2014’s “Penguins of Madagascar”). Most recently, he has appeared in the Apple TV+ series “The New Look” and the Netflix series “Ripley.”

Puss in Boots boasts the richest origin story of all Shrek leads with standalone films to delve into his complex backstory. He is a fulfilling parody of the legendary Zorro, drawing inspiration from the iconic character's swashbuckling ways. Puss in Boots is the most versatile fighter in Far Far Away, showcasing his acrobatic sword skills and tactical combat prowess.
The Shrek franchise is home to many fairytale-inspired characters, but none shine as brightly as the iconic Puss in Boots. First introduced in 2004's Shrek 2, the swashbuckling feline has been a staple of the franchise ever since. Although the case could be made for several of the franchise's leads, fans seem pretty set on Puss in Boots being the crown jewel of the franchise's catalog of characters.
From his roles in the core Shrek films to his moments in the spotlight in his two solo projects, Puss has consistently been a fan favorite.

One performer's intense portrayal of the villain in Jack Reacher was so convincing that it affected his real life. After the movie was released, his wife received concerned calls from her friends in Paris, offering her shelter because they were frightened by his character's evilness. He reveals that he knew he did a good job with his performance because people's genuine fear and concern for his real-life persona validated his portrayal of the terrifying villain.
Jack Reacher villain Werner Herzog explained how he knew his performance was effective. The 2012 movie, which starred Tom Cruise, was adapted from the Lee Child novel One Shot, and became the first of three onscreen adaptations of Child's Jack Reacher series, which now includes the sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and the ongoing Prime Video show Reacher starring Alan Ritchson. Despite the success of the previous movies, Madagascar 4 has yet to materialize due to a lack of recent news and updates from DreamWorks Animation. A feud between Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith, who voice characters in the franchise, may have halted development on Madagascar 4. While Madagascar 4 is not confirmed and there is no release date, there have been hints at a possible story that could involve the animals returning to Africa. The long break between movies could allow for an emotionally impactful and mature storyline.
Despite the last movie being the most successful in the franchise to date, Madagascar 4 still hasn't happened - here's all the recent Madagascar 4 news. The original Madagascar arrived in 2005 and told the story of four pampered Central Park Zoo animals who find themselves shipwrecked on Madagascar and have to tap into their inner instincts to survive, and it became a sizable hit. Tubi opens June with an intense WWII drama “Inglourious Basterds.” Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of five tough Jewish soldiers to spread fear throughout the Third Reich. They have one assignment: assassinate Nazi leaders. Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed the unconventional war drama. Eli Roth, Melanie Laurent, and Christopher Walz co-star.
Watch the trailer of “Inglourious Basterds”:
The network is also streaming the original documentary “Mystery Unsolved: The Adnan Syed Story” on June 7. After serving 22 years in prison, Syed was released, still proclaiming his innocence. Now, he may return.
Another streamer original, “Magic Carpet Rides,” arrives June 14. It centers on a social influencer torn between sharing her budding romance or honoring her boyfriend’s request to keep their life private.

Netflix is on the cusp of taking down a wide selection of movies and TV series.
The streaming service removes numerous titles each month, but without fanfare; unless you happen to select the thing that’s about to leave, you will have no idea there’s a limited amount of time left to watch.
Fortunately, we’ve compiled a list of every movie and TV show being removed from Netflix in April 2023.
We’ve aggregated all the impending removals from Netflix in the UK and US, which we’ve signalled below. If there isn’t a territory listed next to the title, then it will be leaving both.

Exclusive: The Gotham Group has launched an Nft-focused Emerging Technologies department, with the Hollywood management and production company tapping longtime manager Matt Shichtman to run it, while elevating him to partner.
The division already has a first project, with production underway on the adult animated series Alien to Me. It will be fully Web3 with only those that purchase NFTs getting access to the series, which hails from Shichtman-repped comedian and digital artist Connor Kerrigan and Melbourne-based animation studio Pixel’s Andrew Goldsmith and Monique Mulcahy.
“While studios have had considerable success over the past decade consolidating market power, Web3 has moved swiftly in the opposite direction, decentralizing networks, building grassroots communities, increasing transaction speeds, decreasing fees, and pushing towards carbon neutrality, a goal many blockchains have now achieved,” Shichtman said. “With over $25 billion in Nft sales in 2021, we couldn’t be more excited to leverage the power this new...

Showtime Documentary Films announced “We Need To Talk About Cosby” will premiere on Jan. 30 at 10 p.m., following its Sundance Film Festival premiere.
From Emmy-winning director W. Kamau Bell, the four-part docuseries will take a deep dive into Bill Cosby’s influential career and ultimate downfall — due to accusations of rape, drug facilitated sexual assault, sexual battery and other misconduct by more than 60 women.
“As a child of Bill Cosby, I was a huge fan of all of his shows and wanted to be a comedian because of him,” said Bell in a statement. “I never thought I’d ever wrestle with who we all thought Cosby was and who we now understand him to be. I’m not sure he would want me to do this work, but Cliff Huxtable definitely would.”
Added Vinnie Malhorta, executive vice president of nonfiction programming, Showtime Networks: “Kamau has bravely ventured into...

Disney/20th Century Studios dropped the latest trailer Thursday for “Ron’s Gone Wrong” (October 22 in theaters), which centers on the friendship between the titular malfunctioning robot (voiced by Zach Galifianakis) and socially awkward middle-schooler Barney (voiced by Jack Dylan Graze). It marks the first animated feature from UK-based Locksmith Animation, directed by co-founder Sarah Smith (“Arthur Christmas”) and former Pixar story artist Jean-Philippe Vine (“Cars 3”). Peter Baynham (the “Borat” movies and “Arthur Christmas”) and Smith co-wrote the script with an emphasis on tech frustration and unhealthy dependence on social media.
“Coco” story artist Octavio Rodriguez served as co-director, Julie Lockhart (co-founder and president of Locksmith) produced with Lara Breay (“Penguins of Madagascar”), VFX studio Dneg (“Dune”) made its first animated feature, and the voice cast also includes Olivia Colman (“The Crown”), Ed Helms (“The Office”), Justice Smith (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Rob Delaney (“Deadpool 2“), Kylie Cantrall (“Gabby Duran...

There may not be a more iconic opening in the modern animation landscape than that of SpongeBob SquarePants. Only one cartoon jingle is bold enough to ask questions like “who lives in a Pineapple under the sea?” and demand to know if “nautical nonsense be something you wish.”
The show open for SpongeBob SquarePants’ second spinoff, The Patrick Star Show, has a lot to live up to then. It’s unlikely to be as infamous and influential as its forefather’s opening (because what could be?) but that doesn’t mean it can’t have some fun on its own. Thankfully, we’re happy to report that the intro for The Patrick Star Show is quite fun! And don’t just take our word for it, because thanks to the kind folks at Nickelodeon, we can exclusively reveal it right now. Take a look below:
