The Netflix Effect is weird. Whether it’s “Suits” or “Madame Web” or a Netflix original like “Baby Reindeer” that turns into a sleeper hit, people tend to gravitate toward some truly random stuff on Netflix. It’s the case most weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts, but this week even we’re at a loss.
Coming in at No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 English Films for the week of February 17 was none other than “Uncharted,” the 2022 Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg adventure-thriller based on the PlayStation video game franchise. Because…why not?
You guys watched it 10.5 million times this week, behind only the Netflix original rom-com “La Dolce Villa,” which hit No. 1 for the second week in a row post-Valentine’s Day with 14.1 million views. “Uncharted” previously landed on Netflix on August 5, 2022, and it spent three consecutive weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts at that time, reaching 23 million viewing hours in a single week.

Gin Ichimaru is one of Bleach‘s most complex and underrated characters. He was on a path of no return ever since he sided with Aizen during the Rukia execution arc.

Most people hated him for betraying Rangiku Matsumoto, but as their past was slowly fleshed out, it became more and more apparent that the cunning Gin had a secret plan that only he was aware of.
Later, it turned out that everything he had ever done was for the sake of Rangiku, whom he had sworn to protect.
Gin’s path to vengeance was always a dead end
He never wanted anything from himself, he just wanted to return to Rangiku all that was stolen from her and unravel Aizen by backstabbing him, even if he had to carry the brand of a traitor.

Marvel's First Family has officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first trailer for the hotly-anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released.
The first trailer for The Fantastic Four, which takes place in a retro-futuristic 1960s setting, introduces audiences to Marvel's First Family: Reed Richard/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, respectively. Unlike 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four movies, First Steps picks up with the foursome after they have gained their respective superpowers, with the Fantastic Four already a recognizable part of this universe. The trailer doesn't reveal too much about the movie's plot, although there are a couple of shots of Ralph Ineson's Galactus, who looks extremely faithful to the comic version. The trailer also ends with the Fantastic Four standing in their classic white and blue suits,...

It’s always a shock how quickly things can go from completely normal to totally f*cked up. In Michiel Blanchart’s Night Call (La Nuit se Traîne), a college student moonlighting as a locksmith gets pulled into an organized crime conspiracy after he opens a door into the Belgian underworld. What should have been a routine night of studying in between service calls suddenly becomes a fight for survival after he’s tricked into helping a stranger rob some very, very dangerous people. It’s a tight thriller with dynamite performances top-to-bottom, and some really clever camerawork that punches up a “one bad night” tale into a crisp, action-packed adventure through the seedy underbelly of downtown Brussels.
Set against the backdrop of a Black Lives Matter protest, which Michiel Blanchart weaves into his story in a really interesting way, our hero is left with no one to turn to...

Keanu Reeves As John Wick 4 Assassin (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Keanu Reeves as John Wick isn’t exactly chatty, but John Wick: Chapter 4 took his “man of few words” persona to a new level. The nearly three-hour-long action epic had Wick deliver only 380 words across its 169-minute runtime. Yes, 380 words.
To put that in perspective, Reeves said more in the trailer than he did in the first 25 minutes of the movie. Talk about a minimalist assassin. The original John Wick (just 101 minutes long) saw him utter 484 words.
This pared-down dialogue wasn’t accidental. According to director Chad Stahelski and Reeves himself, they deliberately slashed half of Wick’s scripted lines. A prime example? The tense scene between Wick and the Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), where much of Wick’s dialogue was stripped down to just one-word zingers like “pistol” and “no quarter.”

When 9-1-1 Season 8 began, Bobby Nash found himself away from his team at the 118 and in the entertainment business as a technical advisor on the television series Hotshots.
The show-within-a-show angle has played out comically throughout the first half of the season, and Bobby’s relationship with Hotshots star Brad Torrance has also been a highlight.
Bobby found an admirer in Brad, which plays out even more during 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 7, when Bobby and the 118 are called to the Hollywood set when a stunt goes wrong.
(Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
With Vincent Gerrard now taking his place as technical advisor, things are running less smoothly on set, and the relationship between Gerrard and Brad is complicated at best.
When Bobby is tasked with returning to his short-lived place of employment to help Gerrard become more likable and thus foster a better working relationship with Brad, it feels like an impossible task.

The reboot of the franchise, written and directed by Mike P. Nelson and produced by Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, executive producers of the original 1984 Tri-Star film, alongside Jamie R. Thompson and Anthony Masi, goes into production “soon”. It is currently slated for a late 2025 theatrical release.

Developed by the independent studio Wrong Organ, Mouthwashing transports players aboard the cargo freighter Tulpar on a haunting voyage into the depths of psychological horror. Set in the vastness of space, the story begins 147 days into the Tulpar’s 382-day delivery route, with five crew members struggling to maintain their grip on reality after a mysterious collision leaves them stranded with dwindling resources.
Led by Captain Curly, the crew’s troubles escalate as their circumstances grow increasingly desperate. But Mouthwashing isn’t the type of game to spook players with gore or jumpscares. Through nonlinear storytelling and unsettling atmosphere, it submerges them in the unraveling minds of its characters instead. Shifting between past and present, players see the events leading to the ship’s crash through Curly’s perspective before the impact, then navigate the aftermath as acting Captain Jimmy.
This dual timeline adds mystery as revelations continuously surprise, even when resolution seems nigh.

From “Rubber” to “Wrong” to “Smoking Causes Coughing” and “The Second Act,” eccentric French auteur Quentin Dupieux is quickly becoming one of Europe’s most prolific filmmakers akin to a Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Albeit with eccentric, often fourth-wall-breaking comedies. He had two films debut at festivals in 2023, including the heckler hostage comedy “Yannick” at Locarno and the Salvador Dalí “real fake biopic” “Daaaaaalí!” out of competition at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. A movie where five actors play the surrealist icon, “Daaaaaalí!” is now making its way to U.S. theaters courtesy of Music Box Films, and IndieWire shares the exclusive trailer below.

Protagonist Yuji Itadori faced off against a variety of insidious and deadly opponents all throughout the first two seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen, most of them being vicious curses who love nothing more than butchering and tormenting their human victims. Some curses felt like mere minions for the real supervillains, such as Hanami and Dagon, while the curse known as Mahito was another matter entirely. Mahito appeared early in the anime and quickly drew the ire of Yuji Itadori, who could never forgive Mahito for all that humanoid curse has done.
Mahito was presented as a curse with more than a killer instinct. He also had lofty idealism about what the world should be like, rejecting the deceitful humanity and envisioning a world where curses like him can freely rule the Earth as authentic beings for all time. To accomplish that goal, Mahito set out killing his sorcerer enemies and experimenting on various test subjects,...

For over 35 years of his acting career, Will Smith has been the quintessential likable character, whether donning a multi-colored silk shirt or a well-tailored suit. Indeed, the actor has racked up chart-topping hits, playing serious historical figures, and seamlessly shifting between action, comedy, and drama.
Remember his charm in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Or how about box-office juggernauts like Independence Day, Men in Black, and Bad Boys? With each role, he has solidified his place as a Hollywood heavyweight, proving that versatility is his middle name.

But the actor once humorously lamented his failure to be a superstar like Tom Cruise. However, there’s one arena where the former can beat Cruise hands down, and that’s in the art of “rizzology”—a term coined by social media to describe his unparalleled charm. Need proof? J.K. Rowling is embroiled in a fresh row with another Harry Potter actor over transgender rights.
Following exchanges of fire with Daniel Radcliffe and others, Rowling has blasted David Tennant after the Goblet of Fire star voiced strident views on those who speak out against trans rights.
During an appearance at the British LGBT Awards over the weekend, he called on British equalities minister Kemi Badenoch to “shut up” after she advocated for banning trans women from entering women’s toilets and sports teams.
In an interview at the same event, Tennant called transgender critics “a tiny bunch of little whinging f*ckers who are on the wrong side of history, and they’ll all go away soon.”
Earlier in the week, Rowling branded people like Tennant the “gender Taliban.” In posts on X (once Twitter) on Friday, she expanded her comments to address Tennant’s “wrong side of history” quote.

Phoebe Cates nearly ended Zach Galligan's career before she helped launch it.
Galligan was the New York City-born son of a corporate lawyer and a psychologist when, in his late teens, he landed his first major Hollywood audition. Mazursky and casting director Juliet Taylor were looking for a young actor to play the film's version of Ferdinand, the Prince of Naples who falls in love with Prospero's daughter Miranda. The most characters survive in the 2021 reboot of Wrong Turn, where three make it to the end alive. There is at least one movie in the Wrong Turn franchise where no characters survive at all. The Wrong Turn movie with the lowest kill count was the 2003 original.
The Wrong Turn movies are known for intense, bloody violence and creative dismemberment via the franchise's cannibal killers, and — due to the very high body count — there were only a few survivors throughout the six existing movies. The original Wrong Turn was released in 2003, becoming a modest box office hit. The others were released direct to video until the franchise was rebooted with 2021's Wrong Turn going for a more grounded and serious tone.

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will kick off with Quentin Dupieux’s “The Second Act,” a star-studded surreal French comedy headlined by Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel and Raphaël Quenard, Variety has learned.
The anticipated movie is produced by Hugo Selignac at Chi-Fou-Mi, a Mediawan company, and is represented in international markets by Kinology. The film will play out of competition on May 14 and will be released on the same day in French theaters.
Laced with absurdist humor, the meta movie follows actors starring in a doomed film production. Dupieux is one of France’s most popular and prolific filmmakers. He delivered two films in 2023: “Daaaaaalí,” which played out-of-competition at Venice, and “Yannick,” a French box office hit that sold around the world.
In confirming the film’s selection at Cannes, the festival described Quentin as a “filmmaker who embraces freedom – in tone, form and...

Lindsay Lohan's Netflix rom-com "Irish Wish" marks her return to the genre after signing a deal with Netflix. Saint Brigid, the inspiration for a character in "Irish Wish," is a real Irish saint associated with miracles. "Irish Wish" inaccurately portrays Ireland but uses these mistakes to drive the plot, including Saint Brigid as a wish maker.
Irish Wish sees Lindsay Lohan’s Maddie making a wish that ends up coming true thanks to Saint Brigid, who is inspired by a real-life Irish saint but with some key changes. After a couple of years with projects that fell under the radar, Lindsay Lohan has been slowly but surely making her comeback to rom-coms thanks to Netflix. It started with the Christmas movie Falling Christmas in 2022, after which Lohan signed a deal with Netflix to star in two more rom-coms. The first one is Irish Wish, directed by Janeen Damian with a story by Kirsten Hansen.

This might sound rude, but it's doubtful that the "Wrong Turn" films are anyone's ride-or-die franchise. In fact, when we did our own ranking of the 15 best horror movie franchises, the "Wrong Turn" property didn't even make the cut. And yet, despite the odds, seven "Wrong Turn" films (including a prequel and a reboot) have been released since 2003. That's a new "Wrong Turn" movie every three years on average! The series centers around a family of inbred cannibal mutants in Appalachia, leaning into every insulting cultural stereotype about mountain folk and turning it into a horror story. The "horrifying hillbilly" trope is nothing new, but the "Wrong Turn" series has become the grotesque poster child of the subgenre.
Against the better judgment of most, I have willingly watched all seven "Wrong Turn" films and ranked them here for your viewing pleasure. Let's throw out our maps, completely ignore our Gps,...

Yesterday, an image cinematographer Christian Sebaldt shared on Instagram indicated that Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) is finally, after years of development and a thirteen year gap between sequels, heading into production. Now franchise producer Craig Perry has taken to social media to confirm that Final Destination: Bloodlines is indeed filming, the aim being to get this one into theatres in 2025 – in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will even be on IMAX screens!
Perry wrote, “After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release is a rare and wonderful thing. I’m wholly grateful for the opportunity, and humbly appreciate the...
