Exclusive: After setting up her biopic project with Netflix and Chernin Entertainment, Ronda Rousey is now ready to tag in the person to take on directing duties for the film adaptation of her bestselling memoirs. Sources tell Deadline that Augustine Frizzell is set to direct the biopic based on Rousey’s memoirs My Fight/Your Fight and Our Fight, which she co-wrote with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz. Chernin Entertainment is on board to produce.
Deadline first reported the news of how this package came together, starting with Rousey working in WME’s story group department to learn about screenwriting structure and technique. After going through dozens of scripts from others, she would ultimately pen the script by herself in just seven days, shocking her agents who couldn’t believe she was a first-time writer. The script was soon taken to market, with Chernin moving fast to land a meeting and come on as producers.

Highly anticipated due to starring Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Florence Pugh (Midsommar) in the leading roles and promising to be a tearjerker, We Live in Time is the newest directorial effort from John Crowley (Brooklyn). Pugh and Garfield play up-and-coming chef Almut and recently divorcee Tobias respectively, as they find their lives changed forever by a chance encounter that brings them together. Spanning over a decade, this moving romance drama focuses on the importance of time, how limited it truly is, and how we can struggle to know how best to use it. With tremendous lead performances, a heartbreaking yet hilarious storyline and so much human, raw emotion at its core, We Live in Time is a triumph.

Filming intimate scenes must be the weirdest part of an actor's job -- and according to Andrew Garfield, he and Florence Pugh made everything much, much weirder by taking a sex scene way too far on the set of their new romantic drama "We Live in Time."
During a live taping of Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast (via a social media post mined by Variety), Garfield literally re-enacted the hilarious moment on set, explaining that he and Pugh had to shoot a sex scene alongside only a couple crew members (for privacy).
"We do the first take of this very intimate, passionate sex scene," Garfield explained. "And it's a closed set, which means it's only me and Florence in a room together and the camera operator, who is our [director of photography], a very lovely man called Stuart [Bentley]. The scene becomes passionate, and we choreographed it, and we get into it,...

If you’re in need of a good cry, we have some news you’ll be interested in: some big-name, big-screen heartbreak is on the way in the form of We Live In Time, a sweeping new romance starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. Watch the trailer below:
Directed by Brooklyn’s John Crowley, We Live In Time sees the pair meet when Pugh’s Alma accidentally runs over Garfield’s Tobias, leading to an intense love story involving cooking, children, and, it seems, cancer. It comes from a script by Nick Payne, screenwriter of 2021 Jojo Moyes adaptation The Last Letter From Your Lover and Toni Colette TV series Wanderlust, and has Benedict Cumberbatch on board as executive producer under his SunnyMarch banner. Pugh and Garfield may be colleagues in the MCU as Yelena Belova and a variant of Peter Parker respectively, but this comedy-drama sees them opposite each other for the first time.

The Divergent series cast includes rising stars such as Shailene Woodley and Theo James, who gained fame from the movies. The Divergent series was canceled due to lack of success, leading the original cast to move on to other projects. Characters like Tris and Four faced themes of loyalty and sacrifice, evolving into formidable leaders in the faction-divided world.
The Divergent series main cast includes 12 prominent actors, many of whom rose to fame during the 2010s. Some of them may not have been big names when these movies came out in 2014-2016, but all of them are now bonafide stars on film and TV. The Divergent series refers to the trilogy of movies based on books by Veronica Roth, titled Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant. The three Divergent movies starred Shailene Woodley and Theo James in the lead roles, with a massive ensemble cast, including veterans, rising stars, and several award-winning actors.

Mma has been steadily catching up to boxing in terms of combat sport films. While there are plenty of action films that utilize the practice, boxing has been able to capitalize on more character dramas, especially since Rocky hit the scene (no pun intended). While there have been movies like Warrior and Bruised that have showcased mixed martial arts in dramatic films, the popular UFC brand has been geared more towards popcorn movies like Here Comes the Boom and the upcoming Road House remake. The producers of Hereditary are now set to make a UFC-based drama where two Mma fighters, who fight for their own reasons, find themselves on a collision course.

Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air” is the third collaboration from the team behind HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.” Trio Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Steven Spielberg produced the nine-part World War II epic series, which spotlights the men who fought in the 8th Air Force, specifically the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The vivid and vital story finds roots in the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
The crew of a typical Eighth Air Force heavy bomber plane included ten men — a pilot and his co-pilot flying the B17, the navigator and the bombardier in the machine’s nose, the flight engineer behind the pilot, the radio operator, two waist gunners, a ball turret gunner and a tail gunner. Not to mention the men who strategized from the bases, the plane engineers and Tuskegee airmen or Royal Airforce pilots who feature in this story.

The Boys in the Boat, directed by George Clooney and based on Daniel James Brown’s best-selling book, takes us on an emotionally charged journey through the inspiring true story of the University of Washington crew at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. With compelling performances from Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton, this biographical sports drama captures the essence of resilience, camaraderie, and the pursuit of the American dream.
Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, the film introduces us to Joe Rantz who is portrayed with depth and authenticity by Turner. Abandoned by his family during his formative years, Rantz embodies the spirit of the working-class student athletes who come together to form the University of Washington rowing team. As Joe’s personal and financial struggles threaten to derail his sporting ambitions, he soon finds solace in his coach’s fatherly approach as as his team qualifies for the 1936 Olympic Games in Nazi Germany.

Doctor Who is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Since it first started airing way back in 1963, the show has become a British institution on par with the likes of The Beatles and the royal family themselves. Its popularity has also led to the role of The Doctor — the time-traveling alien from the planet Gallifrey and the show's main character — becoming one of the most desired TV roles for actors in the UK and, indeed, around the world. Similarly to the James Bond franchise, whenever the actor that is playing The Doctor announces they are leaving the series, fans and casual viewers alike all stop to see who will be next to take on the prestigious role. That time has finally come; it's time to take a look at the new Doctor.
Back in May 2022, 29-year-old Ncuti Gatwa was announced as the new Doctor, following Jodie Whitaker's decision to leave the show the previous year.

The BBC did not go into any specific details about Groff's character, merely stating that the actor would "jump aboard the Tardis" when the season debuts later this year. While Groff's character remains shrouded in mystery, Doctor Who writer and Showrunner Russel T. Davies spoke excitedly about Groff's addition to the cast. "This is an incredible coup, and a great honour, to get such a huge star striding onto. So strap on your space boots, this is going to be a blast!"

Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive clip from To Catch a Killer, a new thriller being distributed by Vertical. Serving as Argentine director Damián Szifron's English-language directorial debut, which he co-wrote with Jonathan Wakeham, the film releases in theaters on April 21. The story follows a female police investigator recruited by the FBI to profile and chilling murderer.
Shailene Woodley (The Last Letter from Your Lover) stars as Eleanor, the talented but problematic young cop who bears narrative similarities to Silence of the Lambs' Clarice Starling. When she is called in by the FBI’s chief investigator to track a murderer, she will have to battle demons of her own that resurface. To Catch a Killer centers Eleanor's own disturbed psyche as she helps the nationwide manhunt for a man that perhaps only she can understand.

Haim settle for cutting their losses on their new single “Lost Track.” The song builds around the lyric “I’ll never get back what I lost track of,” written a year ago but turned into a complete song after inspiration struck on the set of a recent W Magazine cover shoot starring Alana Haim with Licorice Pizza director Paul Thomas Anderson.
“We had that line written for the last year but could never figure out what to do with it. We kept writing it down, not knowing where it should live.

Augustine Frizzell is set to direct “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue,” a feature film adaptation of V.E. Schwab’s fantasy novel.
Frizzell will also write the script with her husband, filmmaker David Lowery. Schwab was initially on board to pen the screenplay from an initial draft by Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage. Though she’s no longer adapting her words for the big screen, Schwab will remain involved on the project as a producer.
“The Invisible Life of Addie Larue” follows a woman who makes a Faustian bargain to live forever. But in return, she’s cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. That all changes 300 years later, when Addie Larue stumbles upon a man who remembers her name. After the book was published, it remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 43 weeks and sold more than 1 million copies in its first year.

The canned British character study “Mogul Mowgli” disappoints on a few levels, especially given its admirable focus on authenticity and cultural identity in a kitchen-sink drama about Zed (Riz Ahmed), an aspiring British Pakistani rapper.
Zed’s musical career takes a sharp detour after he’s diagnosed with a muscle-related autoimmune disease, leaving him to wonder what motivates him and how he sees himself. Ahmed, who co-wrote the movie with director Bassam Tariq (“These Birds Walk”), struggles to provide emotional balance to his symbolically freighted role, but even he can’t enhance such thin material.
For starters: Zed’s physical deterioration reflects only his creators’ lack of vision. At one point, a neurologist tells Zed that “Your body can’t recognize itself, so it’s attacking itself.” And as if that wasn’t sufficiently on the nose, the neurologist also suggests the Zed’s condition is probably hereditary, which leads...

Based on the eponymous novel by Jojo Moyes, The Last Letter From Your Lover was a charming romance that followed two love stories — the first in 1965 and the latter in present day London. In the present, Ellie, played by Felicity Jones, finds beautifully written letters that allude to a long-forgotten forbidden romance while researching a piece for work, and thus begins a series of flashbacks which take audiences back to a time when communication was epistolary and a missed train could change your life.

If the last letter you received from your lover was as banal as Augustine Frizzell’s new feature, you’d dump them like a shot. But mercifully for box office figures, we have all missed going to the movies so are inclined to be more open-minded towards snarky men spouting cliches and the women who love them. As long as their dramas play out on the big screen.
At first glance, The Last Letter from Your Lover is the bland, romance by numbers you find in large print novels on local library shelves or mildewing and neglected on a three for a fiver carousel in a caravan park shop. Safe and predictable with tick boxes for a neglectful hubby, Chanel suits, a caddish chap and foreign holibobs. However, this love story has been pepped up by the Soda Stream fizz of a parallel storyline to tickle your fancy when you...
