Exclusive: After setting up her biopic project with Netflix and Chernin Entertainment, Ronda Rousey is now ready to tag in the person to take on directing duties for the film adaptation of her bestselling memoirs. Sources tell Deadline that Augustine Frizzell is set to direct the biopic based on Rousey’s memoirs My Fight/Your Fight and Our Fight, which she co-wrote with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz. Chernin Entertainment is on board to produce.

Deadline first reported the news of how this package came together, starting with Rousey working in WME’s story group department to learn about screenwriting structure and technique. After going through dozens of scripts from others, she would ultimately pen the script by herself in just seven days, shocking her agents who couldn’t believe she was a first-time writer. The script was soon taken to market, with Chernin moving fast to land a meeting and come on as producers.

Despite the fact that his career is still in its early stages, Callum Turner's best movies and TV shows already feature an impressive amount of notable projects. Turner's professional acting career began in 2010 as he began appearing in guest roles on popular series like The Borgias and Ripper Street. The British actor made his feature film debut in the lead role of Queen & Country, starting his career off in a big way and quickly leading to other big projects both in the world of British cinema and in Hollywood.

Turner has recently found himself becoming a lead actor in high-profile projects, including The Boys in the Boat and Masters of the Air. These projects have seen him working with Hollywood legends like Steven Spielberg and George Clooney. Turner has also proven his talents alongside other new stars in Hollywood, such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Vanessa Kirby, and Austin Butler.

In 2024, Marvel alums Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh joined forces for a non-superhero film. The drama We Live in Time stole the hearts of many following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and is soon heading to streaming.

The A24 drama We Live in Time is heading to streaming on Max on Friday, Feb. 7, Warner Bros. officially confirmed. The film will also debut on HBO on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 8:00 p.m. Et. The movie premiered in early September at TIFF, followed by a wide release on Oct. 18, 2024. Internationally, it premiered in the U.K., Ireland, and Spain in early January.

Filming intimate scenes must be the weirdest part of an actor's job -- and according to Andrew Garfield, he and Florence Pugh made everything much, much weirder by taking a sex scene way too far on the set of their new romantic drama "We Live in Time."

During a live taping of Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast (via a social media post mined by Variety), Garfield literally re-enacted the hilarious moment on set, explaining that he and Pugh had to shoot a sex scene alongside only a couple crew members (for privacy).

The film, which stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, will have its world premiere at Toronto and its European premiere at San Sebastian. Pugh and Garfield star as two people whose lives are forever changed when an accident brings them together.

Written by Nick Payne (“The Last Letter From Your Lover”), “We Live in Time” chronicles the relationship between Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) through a series of vignettes, as they learn to cherish each moment of the route their love story has taken.

Crowley, known for his work across film, theater, and television, made his feature debut with “Intermission” (2003), which was part of the San Sebastian’s New Directors section. The Irish filmmaker’s credits include “Boy A” (2007), “Brooklyn” (2015), and episodes of “True Detective” and “Modern Love.

UK filmmaker Naqqash Khalid has wrapped a six-week shoot in Manchester on his debut feature In Camera, which stars Nabhaan Rizwan, Amir El-Masry and Rory Fleck Byrne.

The film is produced by Juliette Larthe for the UK arm of UK-us production firm Prettybird, and by former BFI exec Mary Burke for her new UK company Public Dreams. Larthe developed the script alongside Khalid.

“The Theory of Everything” star Felicity Jones and “Bridgerton” actor Jonathan Bailey are set to star in a comedy called “Maria” that will be introduced to buyers at this year’s Cannes market.

“Maria” is Bailey’s first leading film role since starring in “Bridgerton” Season 2.

Simon Amstell (“Benjamin”) is writing and directing “Maria,” and Jason Isaacs is also attached to co-star in the project. Production is expected to begin in the UK and U.S. later this fall.

“Maria” stars Jones as a woman struggling to accept her age, her boyfriend’s love and her father’s indifference. But she meets her new stepbrother at her father’s wedding and learns not only that she has inconvenient sexual chemistry with him but also that her father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Bailey will portray Jones’ boyfriend, while Isaacs plays her father.

Augustine Frizzell is set to direct “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue,” a feature film adaptation of V.E. Schwab’s fantasy novel.

Frizzell will also write the script with her husband, filmmaker David Lowery. Schwab was initially on board to pen the screenplay from an initial draft by Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage. Though she’s no longer adapting her words for the big screen, Schwab will remain involved on the project as a producer.

Disney’s original comedy Free Guy posted a good hold on its second session in UK-Ireland cinemas to retain the box office lead, as BBC mockumentary feature People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan broke into the top five on its first weekend.

Free Guy dropped only 7% on its opening session, with £2.26m taking it to £7.2m.

The film scored a £3,824 average from 625 locations, and has £2.47m including previews.

Based on the eponymous novel by Jojo Moyes, The Last Letter From Your Lover was a charming romance that followed two love stories — the first in 1965 and the latter in present day London. In the present, Ellie, played by Felicity Jones, finds beautifully written letters that allude to a long-forgotten forbidden romance while researching a piece for work, and thus begins a series of flashbacks which take audiences back to a time when communication was epistolary and a missed train could change your life.
