One of the best movies I have seen in recent times. All the characters are well written and performed.
I really enjoyed the performance of Kaali Venkat as the father. He has similar role to the one he had in Kida. The five boys were really amazing. Hard to imagine it is their first movie. The Boy who played the main character was really good. His expressions were genuine.
The comedy between the military man and the drunkard was funny to watch as we have seen these characters in real life.
I liked the fact that the movie was not too melodramatic and sticked to the main plot.
I hope to see more movies from the director.

Nostalgic memories of childhood are well portrayed in the story of some village boys. Kindness and love are depicted as something essential to the human culture. Even the very strict person, the Military, also becomes kind. The father of the boy is indeed naive, but he learns great lessons of human success from his son, though a small boy. The teacher, mother of the boy, his sister are all persons whom we meet in our families. The vacation plan of the boys is very simple. But the poor economic background of the children restricts them from easily realizing their dreams. Despite all barriers, they manage to realize their dreams, including the one of reaching the mountain in the village. Thus, this simple movie tells us about the beautiful realization of the dream of a few poor kids, who represent the humanity with its endless aspirations and dreams.
"Kurangupedal" is one of the finest movies that I have watched in recent times. It transported me back to my school days, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia. The film beautifully captured the essence of my childhood, where riding a bicycle, even for an hour, was a significant achievement.
During the summer vacations, learning to cycle was a rite of passage. Once we mastered the skill, the next big adventure was to aim for a distant point, touch it, and come back. The sense of freedom and accomplishment that came with these small journeys was immense. The film vividly brought back memories of how we would secretly steel small amounts of money from home just to rent a cycle. These little acts of childhood 'rebellion' were all part of the joy and excitement that the film so wonderfully portrayed.
Watching "Kurangupedal" was a delightful experience. It didn't just tell a story; it took me on a journey back in time to those carefree days filled with simple pleasures and innocent adventures. The film's ability to evoke such strong, personal memories made it truly special for me. It was a reminder of the small yet significant moments that shaped my childhood, making "Kurangupedal" a memorable and heartwarming film.g,
