      Home movie?

As I watched this, I got thinking this felt like some family's art project or something. Then I checked the credits. It was. "Mom, dad, kids, let's make a movie!" Now imagine the results. Yup. It's what you're imagining. I gave a couple points for the music. It's not half bad. I thought it better than the crap John Carpenter used to turn out for his films. Otherwise, the acting is stilted. The props were either what was laying around or something that looked like it was constructed for a college play. I'd say "high-school" but it wasn't quite that bad. At least the monster's face was appreciably monstrous. This might be a good film given the MST3K film, but unfortunately, I don't think it can rise to the status of cult film. It's just too dull.

      A bit slow

The film has a few decent points to mention first. The provided narration, the little drawings that the protagonist (Austin) found, and the music at times added to this general storybook feeling. One issue is that the main character Austin is labeled to be a brat, and though it is made unclear if we are to root for him or against him, not much character building is done. The main problem with this film was that it was a bit slow. The monster chases the boy for a long time, captures him, the boy escapes, captures him again, escapes, and this goes on for quite some time. Honestly, if this film was brought down in run time it would make a great episode of Goosebumps, Are you afraid of the dark, or a short film.

      Deserves Obscurity

Bad acting? Check. Bad editing? Check. Monster costume bought at a Halloween store? Check. Doctor Seuss narration? Check.

If you can get through this stinker you're far more patient than I. I couldn't make it past the half-hour mark. Once I saw that ludicrous monster I knew I could go no further.

This is a bad, bad movie shot around somebody's house and starring friends and relatives. Proof that anyone can make a bad movie.
