Alfonso Cuarón is the kind of auteur who is incredibly selective about projects he associates with. After the unexpected mainstream success of "Y tu mamá también," Cuarón was inundated with Hollywood screenplays, but the director was extremely wary of being sucked into the soulless aspects of the industry machine. Something Is Killing the Children, the popular comic by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’edera published by Boom! Studios, is getting another shot at an adaptation from Netflix.

Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the German creators of buzzy cult series Dark and 1899, have been tapped to develop a series adaptation of the comic, one of the biggest titles being published outside DC and Marvel.

The project is the first to come out the duo’s freshly-renewed first look deal with the streaming giant. That deal is a multi-year overall deal that is said to be in the eight figures.

Bo Odar and Friese will write, showrun and executive produce should the project get the greenlight. They will also direct the pilot. Boom!’s Stephen Christy and Ross Richie will executive produce the adaptation. Tynion and Dell’Edera will co-executive produce.

“Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” and “Sesame Street” have won the first Producers Guild Awards to be given out this year, the Producers Guild of America announced at its annual East Coast Nominees Celebration in New York.

The HBO documentary “Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” won in the Outstanding Sports Program category, whose other nominees included “McEnroe” and “Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers.” The long-running series “Sesame Street” won in the Outstanding Children’s Program category.

The PGA will announce the winners in its Outstanding Short Form Program and Innovation categories on Thursday evening at its West Coast Nominees Celebration. The other categories will be given out on Saturday evening at the 2023 Producers Guild Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles.

Children of the Nineties are collectively rejoicing as S Club 7 have announced plans to reunite for a national tour.

On Monday (13 February), the seven-piece pop band shared that they will be performing across the country later in 2023 in celebration of their 25th anniversary.

Made up of Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Rachel Stevens and Jo O’Meara, S Club 7 is known for high-energy tunes such as “S Club Party” and “Don’t Stop Movin’”.

Though some members have worked together over the years, this marks a rare instance of all parts returning to perform.

In a statement, they spoke of their anticipation to be together on the stage once more.

“After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we're reuniting and performing together again,” the official message reads.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s SeaWorld exposé Blackfish wasn’t an easy documentary to watch, but it was an easy documentary to get hooked by, which I don’t think is intended as a fish pun. The anger and sadness from Blackfish kick in after only a few minutes and are sustained for over 80 minutes.

After turning her directing attentions to scripted features (plus FX’s recent Children of the Underground), Cowperthwaite returns to the documentary world with The Grab, a new feature that is in all ways a tougher film to embrace. The Grab thrusts viewers into a complicated world without prelude, examines a problem that isn’t necessarily clear even to the onscreen heroes and, unlike Blackfish, spends much of its running time without an obvious point of sympathy or hissable villain.

The newest Dlc expansion for Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood in “Children of the Worm” arrives tomorrow, but Turtle Rock decided to get things going early with today’s release of the launch trailer. The trailer will get you up to speed with the story for the expansion, which sees you facing off against a new adversary in The Cultists.

The Cultists are a deranged group of humans who fight for the rise of the Ridden. To help combat against this new foe, the expansion introduces a new playable Cleaner in “Prophet” Dan, a gun toting, self-proclaimed preacher of the end times with reviving abilities. In addition to “Prophet” Dan, the new Dlc also includes eight exclusive character skins and 12 exclusive weapon skins, along with new weapons, accessories, and cards. Among the new weapons is the Bear Trap, as well as the Lockjaw rifle.

Beast as a premise could be as ridiculous as Snakes on a Plane. Idris Elba fighting a lion sells itself as an over-the-top idea in the same vein as Jason Statham fighting a shark in The Meg.

To this writer’s surprise, Beast is an unexpected thrill. Director Baltasar Kormákur is mostly known for throwaway action movies like 2 Guns and Contraband. He also directed the forgettable survival true story Adrift. With Beast, audiences will ask themselves where this director has been hiding.
