Part of the allure of Michael Bay's Transformers movies was that they embraced the spectacle and technological limits that came with the 21st-century summer blockbuster. Cool shots, explosions, and a rocking soundtrack seemed to be all that was needed for a franchise that was more than meets the eye to transform the lives of millions of people who watched the movies. However, being that these were, from conception to execution, "popcorn movies," there was an inherent dilemma as fans who watched the movies time and again began to dissect the lore of this chaotic and visually arresting world.
Right off the bat, from Transformers to Transformers: Dark of the Moon, those who had become die-hard fans of this universe noticed things that didn't seem right. Title: Barricade Director: Andrew Currie Being an unbridled fan of the horror genre, you understand that at any given time, you could end up watching one of the worst movies ever made. And after 85 minutes, Barricade proved this theory oh so true. Alright, it’s not the worst flick ever created. But it is definitely the worst of the year thus far. Just taking into account the broad strokes of what makes a competent cinematic product (horror or not), this has zilch. Sure there’s a slight interest of what is causing a raucous in a secluded cabin where a father and his children are vacationing. But that’s about the only [ Read More ]

*spoilers are below! Director: Andrew Currie. Writers: Michaelbrent Collings. Cast: Jody Thompson, Conner Dwelly, Ryan Grantham, and Eric McCormack. Tagline: "Lock your doors." Something, somewhere went wrong with the film Barricade. A lighting guy was fired or writer Michaelbrent Collings' script was not given a thorough read by someone. Because, this title seems to flip-flop about what its central conflict actually is. Also, this movie is overly dark. Whole sets and characters are hidden in shadows and hopefully, this technique was not intentional. Overall, Barricade is a lackluster showing with Eric McCormack's performance one of the few redeemable qualities in the film. The story involves a silly plot device, a fever. The film will try to make it seem like there is an external threat. But, the shady images and strange cuts are being caused by a high temperature. The big plot twist in Barricade is revealed! Turn the lights on already!

Have you ever heard someone say something they thought was incredibly clever, so much so that they wink at you and give you a little nudge afterwards, except it wasn’t clever at all? In fact, what that person said was utter nonsense and everyone else in the room is now a little bit worried the person might be coming down with something, or that in the span of the conversation this once normal person rapidly developed schizophrenia? That’s exactly the feeling you get from Andrew Currie’s thriller Barricade which features Eric McCormack as a father of two who takes his kids on a vacation to a secluded cabin (is there any other kind?) where strange events start to unfold.

You can’t blame people today for wanting to get away from it all. Sometimes nothing sounds more appealing than retreating to a remote cabin in the mountains for some rest and relaxation. Shut off the phones and other electronic devices, or just leave them at home. However, it you are going to do this, have a contingency plan for emergency purposes. You never know when a blizzard could keep you stuck in cabin, completely cut off from the outside world.
In Fido director Andrew Currie and WWE Studios' Barricade, Terrence Shade (Eric McCormack) has decided to get out of the city and take his two kids to a remote cabin (which is really a very large house even though people continuously refer to it as a cabin).
A year prior Terrence and young Cynthia (Conner Dwelly) and Jake (Ryan Grantham) lost their wife/mother. She desperately wanted to have...

A father’s quiet retreat to the woods with his two children turns into a fight for survival in Barricade. From the director of the zombie comedy Fido comes this scary-looking PG-13 horror film.
There is an interesting free app the makers of Barricade are using to market this film. It allows you to play with Augmented Reality technology.
Here’s a video showing how to trigger Augmented Reality for WWE’s Barricade:
For seasoned actor Eric McCormack, the role of Terrance Shade was one of the most challenging of his career. Appearing in virtually every scene, it was both a physically and emotionally demanding role for McCormack. As a busy psychiatrist, Terrance is struggling to adjust to life as a widowed father whose main concern is the safety and well-being of his young children. The children, as well, must come to grips with having lost their principal caretaker,...

Barricade
Directed by Andrew Currie
Screenplay y Michaelbrent Collings
2012, USA
WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment, isn’t just about wrestling anymore, as evidenced by their frequent forays into film producing over the last few years. They’ve ramped up their movie distribution with WWE Studios; last month, their film The Day was released, the first from WWE to not feature any WWE wrestlers. This week, their newest film, Barricade, comes out direct to DVD, with an impressive, cool-sounding, and eye-catching cover using technology called the Augmented Reality experience, meant to bring the intensity of the film to life.
Eric McCormack, of Will and Grace and the current TNT drama Perception, stars in Barricade as Terrance Shade, who’s trying to balance his professional life as a psychiatrist and personal life as a widowed father. He and his kids decide to spend the holidays in a mountain cabin, to both get...

Word has come from the great video gods in the sky that WWE Studios' new film Barricade is set to make its DVD premiere on September 25th! Yep, that's next week! Short notice, we know, but ghosts have a habit of showing up unannounced.
Fido director Andrew Currie helms Barricade for WWE Studios with "Will & Grace" star Eric McCormack toplining the supernatural thriller from writer Michaelbrent Collings. Barricade marks the first original production from WWE Films to not feature one of their wrestling superstars in either a starring or major supporting role.
“One of the interesting things about Barricade,” notes director Andrew Currie, “is you are never really sure what’s real. So that becomes really exciting.”
Synopsis:
A holiday in the mountains is an opportunity for the Shade family to accept their tragic loss and start anew. Little do they know they’ll all be tested in unimaginable ways.

Way back in early 2011, it was revealed Andrew Currie - who previously gave us the amusing zom-com Fido - was attached to a thriller entitled Barricade.
He directed the pic for WWE Studios (See No Evil) in Vancouver with Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) starring alongside Jody Thompson, Ryan Grantham and Conner Dwelly.
McCormack plays a widowed psychiatrist who retreats to a cabin in the woods with his kids until they come under siege by "unknown forces."
Michaelbrent Collings scripted the story and it appears the film is all wrapped up and ready for promotion as a poster has found its way online. No word yet on a release date, but we'll keep you posted. Head inside for a larger look at the one-sheet.

Last week it was announced that Lionsgate was partnering with WWE Studios on a two-film deal that includes a brand new Leprechaun. Today it was revealed that the film will be called Leprechaun: Origins and will be released in March 2013. *Update: In what must be a huge coincidence, WWE wrestler Hornswoggle (pictured below) has been cast in the title role. The rest of WWE's slate has also been revealed. It of course also includes Tiff film The Day, a post apocalyptic thriller starring Dominic Monaghan and Shawn Ashmore. WWE acquired the film back in September and we've heard little about it since. Anchor Bay will be distributing the film. Variety reports that other titles on the slate include the Hulk Hogan starring No Holds Barred which hits DVD and other VOD July 3 via Vivendi Entertainment.
