Lovely, mmoving, a tribute do Mussum and to Brazilian music and TV

Great biopic! It is a lovely well filmed, written, acted and edited romantic drama which both explores well the famous comedy actor and samba musician life and personality, and travels through remarkable moments and characters of Brazilian music and television. While all actors made a fantastic job, all three actors who portrayed Carlinhos Mussum (Ailton Graça, Thawan Lucas and Yuri Marçal) and his mother (Cacau Protásio and Neusa Borges) were particularly extraordinary. It was also impressive how makeup and hairdressing brought some people back to life (like Cartola, Elza Soares and Chico Anysio, the latter also with a short but impressive performance by Vanderlei Bernardino). It is possible to follow the paths, constraints, twists and successes Antonios Carlos Bernardes Gomes had in his personal, artistic and working life. The script is fabulous and the movie is visually beautiful. It is funny, moving and historically true, neither idealizing or hiding anything that was supposed to be shown. You will see there Originais do Samba, Grande Othelo, Escolinha do Professor Raimundo, Os Trapalhões, Mangueira and Flamengo. Very nice.

One of the best brazilian movies!

Well, I wasn't born in Mussum's time, but his stories echo to this day. First of all, I have to highlight the work of Thawan Luca, Yuri Marçal, and Ailton Graça, who have something in common-they portray a legendary figure of Brazil and do it with grandeur!

When Mussum was a kid, portrayed by Thawan Luca, one scene was so great and could be emotional for everyone: when he teaches his mother how to write her name, something she wanted so much but thought was impossible.

A little older, it's Marçal's turn to play, and he was brilliant. He was so good that I felt a little sad when the movie passed the time. I really have to thank him because he did a great job!

In adulthood, Ailton Graça is great-he was so funny and looks so much like the real Mussum. I have to say that I laughed so much in the scenes where he's recording his shows, like Trapalhões. I also have to mention that the actors playing Didi, Dedé, and Zacarias were really great too, and together they transported us to the golden age of TV in Brazil. Finally, I have to thank the director and the screenwriters because they made a fantastic movie. As I said, it was the best Brazilian movie!

Mussum, O Filmis (2023) Good, but it sits on the wall

Mussum, O Filmis is a great Brazilian film. The dynamics of the narrative are very well structured and developed in a light and fun way. It is interesting to analyze how, initially, we see little Antônio Carlos (Aílton Graça) on the fence when faced with his life choices. The little boy finds himself lost between choosing to follow his dreams or listen to his mother's advice. Even though he doesn't choose, "life" chooses for him, but that doesn't stop him from achieving his dreams. The narrative from that moment on follows an interesting path, exploring different moments in the career of the famous actor, comedian and musician Mussum. However, at a certain point the development of this narrative becomes hypocritical because it is also on the fence regarding the defects of its protagonist. Even though the film tries to present the mistakes he made during his career, he prefers not to delve into these issues and makes several passages of the narrative become shallow. In short, the film is beautiful to watch and brings a fun and exciting story, but which in many moments falls into the biggest problem of biographies, which is exploring the defects of the person portrayed.
