Facing your old self to start a new beginning

With the good reception the movie had and as is customary for DreamWorks, the opportunity was taken to make an animated short film to offer a bit more of Megamind. In this case, we see Megamind willing to give up everything related to his life as a villain to start a new life as a superhero. The garage sale is a farewell to Megamind's old life, but to put an end to that, Megamind has the misfortune of facing one of his own creations that shares his same personality. There is something quite metaphorical about that because the giant robot is a manifestation of Megamind's villainy, and Megamind has to confront his own villainy in order to start his new heroic life. Although it doesn't seem like much, the short film makes an interesting contribution by showing this struggle as the next step for Megamind to say goodbye to his old self and start a new chapter. The short film is quite entertaining and maintains the same quality as the movie. The comedy, the animation, and the voices remain the same, which helps this short film retain much of its predecessor's charm. Megamind: The Button Of Doom is an entertaining short film that serves as a good epilogue to the unforgettable animated feature film. My final rating for this short film is 8/10.

    Fun quick sequel

A 16 minute sequel to "Megamind" which explores the aftermath of where the first movie left off. This will be a short review because there's not much to say about this that I haven't in my review for the first movie.

"Megamind: The Button of Doom" was a fun 16-minute thing to watch, which doesn't take much of your time but neither does it garner your full attention. It was basically a quick in and out with this one, not much to say. Fun plot, Megamind and his fish are a funny comedic duo, gave me a few chuckles. But it was not as good as the first one obviously, but definitely recommend it to anyways because it's a easy and quick watch and it's just fun to watch.

As with the main film – technically impressive, quite funny but doesn't really have much warmth to it; amusing enough though

As is the way with these animated films from the two big studios, the DVD release usually has a short film associated with it and more often than not they are as good as the main film in some ways. This one sees Megamind getting rid of all his evil weapons of destruction in a sort of yard sale; it seems like a good idea until a button in a box gets pushed and an unused "unspeakable evil" gets activated and focuses on destroying the protector of Metrocity – who at this time happens to be Megamind himself.

As with the main film, this short isn't particularly funny but it is technically pretty impressive. The main battle sequence between the robot and Megamind moves really well and is slick as all get out an it does hold the attention. The short film benefits from having a really simple short plot and as a result it is able to throw in more laughs and be less serious. It still doesn't make it as funny or as smart as it could have been but it is OK. The returning voices focuses on Ferrell and Cross and both of them do well – Cross in particular is a good voice actor.

Overall though it is a reasonable enough little DVD extra – not worth hunting down but quite funny and delivered with style and lacks the over-plotting problems that the main film had.

    The Button of Doom

The Button of Doom is Blu Ray extra for the Megamind film. The quality of the animation is very good, especially the battle sequences.

Now that Megamind is no longer evil, he has a garage sale to get rid of all his evil weapons. At least he seems to be trusting that the little kids will not use that dehydrate ray gun on their parents.

Only when he later pushes a mysterious red button he activates a giant robot who thinks Megamind is now Metro Man and plans to eliminate him.

This is a slickly made short which kids will enjoy due to the sarcastic humour. Will Ferrell returns as the voice of Megamind.

Solid , Simple , fun short film in the world of Megamind!

DreamWorks once again proves themselves that they are indeed capable of making good short films like this one and the fact that this was released the same year that DreamWorks made "Puss In boots: The Three Diablos" is amazing , That short film was the best one since it's tied to the Shrek universe , And in the same year they made this.

The short film is amazing , Will Ferrel and David Cross's voice acting performance is very good , David cross previously played "Crane" in the kung fu panda franchies and he also played "minion" in megamind.

The short film was funny and entertaining espically the start where they sell Megamind's "evil" gadgets , iconic gadget that were previously shown in the film and others weren't shown but overall quite a hilarious short film by dreamworks , i'm glad the voice actors didn't change because they fit their corresponding characters perfectly.

Overall pretty solid short film , one note: i REALLY love the opening theme of this , i'm glad they used the same opening theme/animation as the movie because hans Zimmer did an incredible job with the score.

Overall 8/10 , DreamWorks ON TOP.

Minion: Sir, now that you've gotten rid of your "evil" things, how are we going to protect Metro City?

Megamind: Way ahead of you, Minion!

      [steps out in a suit]

      Minion: What are you wearing?

Megamind: My super-secret super-hero super-suit! I designed it myself! It copies all of Metro Man's powers: super-boots, super strength, and super x-ray slash laser vision!

Minion: Umm... yeah, I'm not sure if it's really... you.

      Megamind: Au contraire, filet Minion!
