Set against the stark, unforgiving backdrop of Nevada’s arid deserts in 1963, Laws of Man presents itself as a Cold War thriller that interrogates the human condition in times of political strife.
The film opens with two U.S. Marshals tasked with serving warrants in an environment where isolation is both physical and psychological—a fitting stage for examining the scars left by conflict (a notion that resonates with historical shifts of the period).
The narrative introduces marshals who confront not only local criminals but also their own inner demons. One character is burdened by memories of wartime experiences, his flashbacks offering a window into a troubled past that shadows his present. In contrast, his partner exhibits a reckless spirit, one that sparks both frustration and occasional wry amusement from the viewer.
This cinematic offering mixes the hard edges of traditional law enforcement with moments that tip into surreal exaggeration,...

Everybody's favorite fire chief is headed back to Chicago. Well, everyone's favorite except, perhaps, current fire chief Dom Pascal (played by Dermot Mulroney). That's right, after his departure from Chicago Fire back in 2024, actor Eamonn Walker will be returning to the show to portray the character he embodied for twelve seasons: Wallace Boden. But don't get too excited — he's not coming back in a full-time capacity.
In new reporting by The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed by showrunner Andrea Newman that the newly-promoted First Deputy Commissioner Wallace Boden would appear in an upcoming episode of the beloved Dick Wolf procedural. After not appearing in the recent mega-crossover event that took place on the Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. television shows, fans wondered if they would ever see Boden again. And now we finally have more details about his temporary return.

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actor Keith Carradine reflected on his time filming the drama series Dexter, which follows a serial killer (Michael C. Hall) with a code of conduct to only kill guilty individuals. Carradine appeared in 15 episodes of the show from 2007 to 2009, playing FBI Special Agent Frank Lundy. His character developed a romantic relationship with the character Debra Morgan, played by Jennifer Carpenter. Notably, the two characters have a 30-year age gap. Carradine spoke to uInterview founder Erik Meers about his time on the show. “I credit Jennifer Carpenter with making my character work because the idea of that sort of Spring-September romance, it’s always dangerous and there is the possibility of the ick factor there, this older guy with this younger woman, and is that going to play, is it going to be accepted, is the audience going to approve of this – and I really...

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, veteran actor Keith Carradine delved into what draws him to a role on screen and what captivated him about his character in his new movie, Laws of Man. Laws of Man is a period movie that takes place at the start of the Cold War and follows U.S. Marshalls Frank and Tommy as they work to find a wanted murderer in the deserts of Nevada. Carradine shared an overview of his character with uInterview founder Erik Meers. “He’s basically, he’s a crooked FBI man,” Carradine said. “And I thought it would be fun…I thought, ‘That’s a fun role, I’m going to have a good time being that guy.’ Because on Dexter, obviously I was a not crooked FBI agent in pursuit of that serial killer. So to play an FBI agent on the wrong side of the law was fun.

With the new thriller Laws of Man, award-winning actor Dermot Mulroney goes gritty with an intense and intimidating performance. It's something he's proved more than capable of for years, but it's still a far cry from the charming rom-com lead he became most famous for with titles like My Best Friend's Wedding, The Wedding Date, The Family Stone, Friends, and New Girl. He's set to make a return to the genre alongside another master of it, Malin Akerman with Perfectly Imperfect, and that's not his only upcoming project with Akerman.
Mulroney was recently promoting Laws of Man and took time to share about his pair of projects that co-star Akerman — and how their first one, a TV series called The Hunting Wives, led to their upcoming movie, Perfectly Imperfect. "We enjoyed working with each other so much [on The Hunting Wives]," Mulroney told us. "I got involved with trying to put [Perfectly Imperfect] together.

Like many celebrated film actors working today, Dermot Mulroney (Anyone But You) has forayed into television, most recently with a standout role in NBC's hit series Chicago Fire. As the new fire chief, Mulroney has settled in nicely to his significant character — who will be featured prominently in the network's highly anticipated three-part crossover that will premiere Wednesday, January 29, beginning at 8/7c. Yes, by "crossover," that means the Fire ensemble will link up with the casts of Chicago Med and Chicago Pd, and MovieWeb recently caught up with Mulroney while he was promoting his latest film Laws of Man to learn more about NBC's upcoming small-screen event as well.
"I'm so excited about that particular episode because of what they've done and how they put this together. It's bigger set pieces and action scenes than really almost anything I've ever done," Mulroney told MovieWeb. "I'm on this incredible show that's a well-oiled machine.

Ambition outstrips expertise in writer-director Phil Blattenberger’s “Laws of Man,” whose serpentine plot winds up seeming a wild goose chase — one whose execution should have been, well, wilder. Action and atmosphere are too poorly supplied for this stab at a noirish retro thriller to emerge as anything but talky, awkward and unconvincing. Set in 1963, it takes a big narrative leap toward the end that suggests an intent closer to such willfully over-the-top Cold War paranoia fantasias as “Dr. Strangelove” and “Winter Kills.” But the satirical edge which might’ve pulled off that gambit is absent throughout, making for a whole that’s peculiar without ever being very engaging. Saban is releasing the feature to U.S. theaters, digital and On Demand platforms Jan. 10.

Over the last decade, companies like Netflix, NBCUniversal and Cinelease have committed an enormous amount of capital to filming in New Mexico. That development, along with attractive tax rebates from the state, has enabled Santa Fe to blossom into an enviable production hub.
The combination of that growth and a forward-thinking creative community has also helped generate a unique, on-the-rise energy to the Santa Fe International Film Festival, which in 2024 earned a place on Moviemaker Magazine’s list of “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” for the second year in a row.
Nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the festival offers up a rare mixture of natural beauty, professional networking opportunities for up-and-coming artists, and superbly curated programming. Returning for its 16th edition October 16-20, this year’s theme is identity and collective humanity — exploring what makes a person distinct while also binding them to one another.
