Fans of The Challenge voiced their frustration with the upcoming All Stars 5 season, which features a return for the Rivals theme.
Viewers previously saw several Rivals seasons of MTV’s The Challenge, with the first premiering in June 2011.
Johnny Devenanzio and Tyler Duckworth won for the men’s side, while Evelyn Smith and Paula Meronek won for the women.
Rivals II came to MTV just a few years later, with Chris “Ct” Tamburello and Wes Bergmann winning. On the women’s side, Paula Meronek won again, this time with Emily Schromm as her partner.
In 2016, viewers got a third Rivals season on MTV, which featured one of reality TV’s most infamous and memorable moments. Bananas left his partner without any prize money due to a twist after they finished in first place.
While many fans likely loved those particular editions of The Challenge, plenty disapprove of a significant change to All Stars.

HBO Max has canceled Love Life and Minx, in a move that has drawn criticism online. The news is the latest in of a row of cost-cutting measures. Under the leadership of CEO David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Discovery - which owns HBO Max - has told investors it will make 3.5 billion in cost savings as the result of the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery. The approach to cost-cutting has led to a number of cancelations, perhaps most notably the high-profile DC adaptation Batgirl. It has also led to the removal of already completed shows and movies from its service, in addition to the reduced number of scripted series on other networks owned by Wbd.
Now, Variety reports that Love Life and Minx have been canceled by HBO Max, and will be removed from the platform. In the case of Minx, the 1970s comedy starring Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson, the...

“Minx” has gone out of print after all. HBO Max canceled its period comedy series after it was picked up for a second season last May.
Sources from Lionsgate, the production company behind the series, confirmed the cancellation to IndieWire. According to the sources, production on Season 2 recently wrapped before HBO Max opted to cancel the series, but Lionsgate TV hopes to shop the series to other outlets.
“We have enjoyed a good partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for ‘Minx,’ so current, and new viewers, can continue this journey with us,” Lionsgate said in a statement.
In addition to canceling the second season, HBO Max will also remove the first season, which premiered in March, from the platform. The nixing of “Minx” is the latest cancelation of previously greenlit projects at the streamer, including the DC movie “Batgirl” and several animated series.

One of the best parts of social media is following people that inspire and make others laugh. These online content creators find a way to intrigue audiences while also being original and independent of others. One of the biggest black holes an Instagram user can find themselves in is watching a sea of Reels from creators who go back in time and recreate the 2000s.
Because 2000s kids are adults now, they can't help but reminisce about the good ole days through recreated videos showing off the style, music, and basic way of life that kids today would never understand.

Despite criticism for the decisions, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav believes the company made the right decision removing a multitude of shows and movies from HBO Max. Ever since Warner Bros. and Discovery merged in April 2022, the massive new media company began to make major decisions surrounding content production across the board. While one of the company's first decisions was to stop developing new scripted shows on TNT and TBS as a cost-saving measure, recent decisions have had major impacts on their most popular streaming service, HBO Max.
While Warner Bros. Discovery boasts a collective 92.1 million subscribers between HBO Max and Discovery+, recent lineup changes to HBO Max content have shaken up the platform's public perception in recent months. With a goal of cutting costs by 3.5 billion over the next three years, the company set to work by removing content from HBO Max and canceling productions that were well...

John Oliver took another swipe at all the changes happening at Warner Bros. Discovery and this time he addressed the shows getting pulled from HBO Max.
The Last Week Tonight host took on the possibility of Sarah Palin taking over congressman Don Young’s position after his death. Oliver teed up his jab at the streaming platform by mentioning a publisher quoted in The New Yorker that stated that “Sarah knows how to work a crowd … but it’s Sarah, Inc.’ …”
Oliver took the name “Sarah, Inc.” and said it sounded like “a title of a sitcom starring Kat Dennings that’s already quietly disappeared from HBO Max.”
The comedian then added, “HBO Max, It’s a series of tax write-offs to appease Wall Street.”

David Zaslav is fond of his motor racing analogies.
The Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO recently said, “If the linear business is a racecar, we’ve got a team of racecar drivers”. “When we hear a noise or it’s in third gear, we know how to fix it. It’s a business we know well,” he said on the company’s Q2 earnings call.
He believes the same applies to the unscripted television business, Discovery’s bread and butter, which is one of the reasons that HBO Max’s non-scripted division, led by Jennifer O’Connell, was axed as part of the latest round of layoffs.
The non-scripted community, however, is upset that he’s taken this particular car off the road.
HBO Max has had success in its short time commissioning original reality series; FBoy Island, a dating show hosted by Nikki Glaser, is widely considered a hit.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s crusade against its own content continued this week as 37 more titles were unceremoniously pulled from HBO Max. Children’s programming and animated series were hit especially hard following news the company was tamping down efforts in those areas. Reality TV on HBO Max has been similarly decimated, a decision underscored by layoffs in the company’s unscripted division earlier this week.
“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and Discovery+,” Warner Bros. Discovery execs explained per Deadline. “That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”
“At the same time, we’re already starting to bring our content catalogs together like the launch of the new CNN Originals Hub on Discovery+ and a curated collection of Magnolia Network content coming soon to HBO Max,” the statement continued.

After Netflix gutted their animation department and canceled a slew of their announced projects back in May, HBO Max appears to have taken the "hold my beer" approach and followed suit by absolutely gutting their own animated offerings on the platform. The streamer has already been quietly removing a number of films and series since the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, but today's announcement was an absolute bloodbath, with animated projects taking the brunt of it all. Nearly 40 titles either already have been or will be removed from HBO Max by the end of the week, including 20 HBO Max originals.

HBO Max is pulling another swathe of titles, particularly in the unscripted and animated fields.
It comes after it emerged that the streamer would pull back on those genres ahead of combining the service with Discovery+ next week and laid off a number of staff in these spaces.
It follows the removal of a number of other titles over the past few weeks including Craftopia.
Titles to be pulled from the service this week include Ellen’s Next Great Designer, The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo and My Mom, Your Dad as well as 12 Dates of Christmas, Close Enough, and Generation Hustle.

HBO/HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys sent a memo to employees this afternoon, explaining the decision by Warner Bros. Discovery to layoff 70 employees, or 14 of his workforce, as the company restructures. The move, announced the morning, comes as Warner Bros. Discovery prepares to merge HBO Max and Discovery+ into one streamer — with the decision made to reduce redundancies in unscripted programming. But a changing business model also led to cuts in scripted children’s and family fare, casting, international and acquisitions.
“Unfortunately, the environment in which we operate is changing rapidly, and it is up to us to continue to refine our model to chart a course for long term success,” he wrote in the memo. “As you heard from David Zaslav during our last earnings call, producing top-tier HBO/Max scripted content is crucial to Wbd’s future. Part of this process involves an honest assessment of what we need moving forward.

At the end of a day that saw about 70 (14) staffers in his divisions getting laid off, Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO & HBO Max, just sent an email to his team about the cuts as well as his new (old) senior HBO/Max scripted executive team of Amy Gravitt, Francesca Orsi and Sarah Aubrey, which includes new responsibilities for Gravitt and Aubrey.
In the memo (read it in full below), Bloys lays out the responsibilities for his top executives on the scripted and documentary side who are staying on and also highlights the accomplishments of the top executives who are leaving as a result of the layoffs: Jennifer O’Connell, Jennifer Kim; Michael Quigley and Linda Lowy.

Do you hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling, too? If so, it's probably due in part to HBO Max's 12 Dates of Christmas airing Nov. 25, or in particular, its contestant, Mandi Horning, jingling all the way to your TV screen. Mandi, who infamously labels herself as the "Christmas girl" on HBO Max's 12 Dates of Christmas, is one of 24 contestants on the nine-episode holiday dating show. Created by the mastermind of Netflix's Love Is Blind, Sam Dean, the festive show centers around three diverse singles whose mission it is to bring someone home to meet their families for the holidays. While Mandi can't quite share if she's found love for the holidays through the show, she was able to give us some fun insight on what to expect (and what not to expect) throughout it all.

Exclusive: The general wisdom is that the United States mainland was not attacked during World War II.
However, a new documentary launching on Discovery+, from Objective Media Group America, highlights that this isn’t technically true.
The streamer has ordered Great Balloon Bomb Invasion, a history special that will lift the lid on a relatively lesser known attack on U.S. soil by the Japanese.
Between 1944 and 1945, the Japanese launched more than 9,000 bomb-rigged balloons across the Pacific, resulting in six deaths in Oregon.
The ‘Fu-Go’ bombs reached as far east as Indiana and as far south as Texas, but only 300 have ever been found, leaving potentially thousands of bombs scattered across the country. In the doc, for the first time ever, an investigation is launched into the hidden history of this attack, with a high-tech hunt for the unexploded remnants.

Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser is set to host a 10-episode reality dating series called “FBoy Island” at HBO Max, the streaming service said Thursday.
From producers of “The Bachelor” franchise, HBO Max’s “12 Dates of Christmas” and Netflix’s “Love Is Blind,” “FBoy Island” follows three women who move to a tropical island where they’re joined by 24 men — 12 self-proclaimed “Nice Guys” looking for love and 12 self-proclaimed “FBoys” — there to compete for cold, hard cash, per HBO Max’s description. The women will navigate the dating pool together with the hope of finding a lasting love connection. By the finale, all will be revealed — who is a Nice Guy, who is an FBoy and who the women ultimately choose. “FBoy Island” is a social experiment that asks the age-old question: Can FBoys truly reform or do Nice Guys always finish last?

TBS has enlisted Tiffany Haddish to host “Friday Night Vibes,” a weekly movie showcase that will feature wrap-around segments with the comedian and guests.
Haddish’s new venture with producer Reginald Hudlin was among a number of programming announcements unveiled Wednesday by WarnerMedia at the company’s annual upfront, including a plan to give HBO and HBO Max original series second-window airings on TNT and TBS. The shock of Monday’s news that WarnerMedia is set to spinoff of AT&T and merge with Discovery has greatly overshadowed the company’s programming announcements for its ad-supported cable networks.
But the upfront presentation that was scheduled long before Discovery and AT&T sealed the deal went ahead as planned, complete with remarks from WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, who is expected to bolt after being unpleasantly surprised by the secret merger plan.

Objective Media Group America, the company behind Fox’s Flirty Dancing and TBS’ upcoming Dwayne Wade-led adaptation of The Cube, had its best year yet during the pandemic.
The U.S. arm of the British superindie was helped by the success of 12 Dates Of Christmas, a breakout dating format for HBO Max that was quickly renewed for a second season for the WarnerMedia streamer.

There’s a grammar-school-friendly version of the Sondheim musical called “Into the Woods, Jr.,” which erases all of Act Two (except “Children Will Listen”) so you can have the storybook charm without the sex or death. Amazon’s “A Map of Tiny Perfect Things” is essentially “Groundhog Day Jr.,” turning the idea of being stuck on the same day into a YA romance.
“Groundhog Day” was by no means the first story to use the idea of people in a temporal anomaly as a metaphor for being in a rut, but it launched its own sub-genre that includes Sundance hit “Palm Springs,” the Netflix series “Russian Doll,” the horror franchise “Happy Death Day,” and even the made-for-tv holiday film “12 Dates of Christmas.” All that’s left for “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things” to mine is a narrative that places teens in the center of the universe and allows...

Think of it as your favorite Hallmark movie come to life. Set in the scenic, snow-covered mountains of Austria, HBO Max's 12 Dates of Christmas follows three leads—Chad Savage, Christian Faith Fernandez and Garrett Marcantel—as they set out to find true love. Presented with six suitors, the real estate developer, who came out as gay five years ago, chose...no one. Now, as fans (and his dates) question his decision, the 29-year-old looks back on his proverbial journey and why he regrets...

Soon enough, Love Island returned for its second season on CBS and most recently, 12 Dates of Christmas staged a real-life rom-com for three suitors hoping to find someone to bring home for the holidays. HBO Max is getting into the dating-show game with 12 Dates of Christmas, which, alas, does not actually have twelve episodes! The new dating reality series features holiday-themed dates, spanning across a short but drama-packed season.

That being said, though, the show is taking a pretty unusual release schedule for those episodes. Rather than releasing them all at once in the traditional streaming model or releasing them one at a time like traditional TV, episodes are being released in three minipacks: three on Nov. 26, three on Dec. 3, and the final two on Dec. 10.

Sam Dean, the showrunner of Netflix’s breakout reality dating hit Love Is Blind, is starting a relationship with HBO Max.
The nascent streamer has closed a first-look overall deal with the producer, who previously worked at Love Is Blind producer Kinetic Content. It gives the platform first-look rights to all of Dean’s owned or controlled concepts for unscripted programming.
