Absolutely awful. Watching this is a terrible mistake.

Of course it was a mistake to watch. Of course I was going to regret it. But when has that ever stopped me?

Being extremely low-budget is one thing. The nuts and bolts of this flick are far worse and can't be waved off by connoting a lack of resources, for to be frank, it comes across that no one involved was making an earnest effort, in any way. From the very, very beginning we suffer through weak production design, gauche and empty "acting," inauthentic lighting, tiresome vocal effects, and achingly rancid "effects." (Admittedly, the effects stop short, but only just, of literally being the worst I've ever seen.) The dialogue is putrescent, and the scene writing; try to put the idea of "characters" out of your mind altogether. The story concept at least has ideas that could be fun as a B-movie, and I indeed discern minor influence from the best 'Friday the 13th' installment, 'Jason X' - but again, in the case of 'Amityville in space,' no one was really trying. If they had, I'd be saying something very different.

The music can at least claim good thoughts, though the compositions as they exist are too forthright and overt, and the audio mix is imbalanced. Every now and then some element might accidentally be less that absolutely abhorrent. Then again, Mark Polonia's direction is painfully limp, the production values are so bare-faced as to hurt the eyes, and the "costume design" consists of materials that would never get sold at the local thrift store. The editing and cinematography are as egregious as the acting, the script, and everything else. If anyone meaningfully applied themselves this could have had a chance at being somewhat enjoyable; I've seen no-budget amateur horror that far outpaced major studio productions because the hard work and care was readily recognized. However, since no one who participated in this slop could be bothered to put in more than one day's work, or one take of a given scene, the result is completely exhausting. Literally exhausting; it took me the better part of four hours to get through these seventy-five minutes once. Good grief, the promotional artwork received more attention than anything in the film itself!

Please learn from my mistake. Please don't let my folly be in vain. Curiosity is the only reason one could ever have for watching this feature, and I must urgently advise that following one's curiosity is in this case a dire mistake. 'Amityville in space' is atrocious muck, and I vehemently recommend against ever pointing your browser in its direction.

Not Worth the Time Spent to Watch

This film essentially begins with a priest by the name of "Father Benna" (Jeff Kirkendall) entering the infamous house in Amityville with the intention of exorcising the evil spirit that resides there. To his dismay, rather than exorcising the demon from the house, he ends up exorcising the entire house into outer space where the two of them are trapped for hundreds of years. The scene then shifts to a spaceship touring the galaxy in search of black holes when it comes upon that very house. Naturally, being somewhat curious about it, they decide to investigate it even further--and that's when they encounter true evil for the very first time. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this if the fourth time Mark Polonia has directed a film using the Amityville title. To that effect, having failed in his previous three attempts, he continues to let his audience down with this one as well. The acting was bad. The special effects were bad. The plot was bad. Everything was bad. That being said, if you like a movie simply because it's bad, then this is definitely the film for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't even give this film a second thought. It's just not worth it.

    The Polonia Brothers strike again

The Polonia Brothers love their weird, "wtf am I even watching" mashup movies and this is another one of those. This is the kind of movie that I have to give 2 ratings.

For a general movie watching audience, this is really very, very bad. Everything abot it is very bad. The story makes no sense. The effects are laughable. The dialogue is terrible. The acting is strictly amateur hour. 2/10 is being generous.

For a fan of no-budget, schlocky z grade horror in general or the Polonia Brother in particular, I would give this a 6/10. It just doesn't have the entertainment value of something like Sharkula.

    Rather likable.

Quite likeable for what it is, even if it does not quite follow the same theme as some of the other Amityville films, still enjoyable and good enough for its purpose of being a Friday night film.

Yes, I know some people will say it isn't up to scratch with the original story, doesn't follow suit, isn't as good as the possession, or. A new generation, or the awakening, but it is not supposed to be. It is done by different people, Mark Polonia, who has that laugh style about him.

Amityville in space is no classic, wasn't going to be, but the issue some people have with Mark is borderline silly, he tries, he works, he puts out decent films. IE. Amityville in space, where we get decent CGI, an ok story, and a futuristic feel. What more do you want.

    Overall, I give this film a 7.
