The show's original title comes partially from the address of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's television studios in Melbourne, where the show was filmed.
The only explanation given for the removal of "in Gordon St" from the title for the third, and final, season is a satirical one given in a television promotion of the series, in which Adam Hills is told that the set is too high, with a decision made to remove it from the studio rather than make it lower.
