The star of this movie is the cinematography! Every frame is perfectly arranged to create a wonderfully composed picture that relates to the subject of the action taking place. This was my first observation when I started watching this marvelous film.
The story is easy - an agoraphobic recluse lets a man (the outside world) into her life. As she progresses to the point where she is willing to allow herself to relate to him and eventually leave her apartment is reflected in the very items and arrangement in each scene. There is a marvelous scene when the camera is pulled back and you can see the staged set. The divide between him and her cannot be more clearly stated and then the divide is crossed - her big challenge has begone!
For art cinema lovers this film is a must see! Bravo!

I would give this show 15stars. Relates to the era, the boy, the girl, and a sweet romantic movie. What can I say these two, Marin Ireland and Paul Sparks, are perfect. Like peanut butter to the jelly sandwich? I hope you give this film a watch. So so good.
If you grew up in the 50-60 era - you will so enjoy and relate this. We all have our quirks and these two are just darling together. I just love, love, loved this film. A boy a girl and love, does it get any better than that. NOPE !
This is clearly a low-budget/no-budget film, but it was made by a few people who know exactly what they are doing. The director has acquired a reputation as a difficult man; OK, so was Steve Jobs. The actress who plays the main character perfectly has gone on to become a good, dependable character actor. She is able and willing, in this film, to look dowdy, unattractive, weird, until she decides not to, and becomes genuinely attractive. The story is described in other reviews here; suffice it to say that it is never unbelievable, both central characters are spot-on, the acting is good, and the ending sums it all up. For a low-budget film, it works for me.
Some movies you see and wonder where the writer came up with the idea. Sparrows Dance rings with the authenticity that the screenwriter has a lot of the problems that the protagonist has.
Slow moving, slow building.
An ultra-low budget flic but ultra-high quality work by the two actors and the director and cinematographer.
Fascinating to watch the main character struggle with her agoraphobia. One of those issues, if you don't have it it's hard to imagine it.
At the end of the movie when she goes to the cupboard - well, I won't tell you what happens but watching it I didn't know what she would do.
Worth watching.
