Today, Apple TV+ released the trailer for season two of Curses!, the thrilling and spooky adventure series for kids from DreamWorks Animation. The second season premieres globally on Friday, October 4.

Curses! follows Pandora, Russ, and Sky Vanderhouven, a family cursed by their ancestors’ pillaging of ancient artifacts from across the globe in which the father, Alex, was turned to stone.

After reversing the curse on an adventure of a lifetime, the second season picks up with Alex rejoining the family as they continue working to undo the damage done by their greedy ancestors.

The New York Botanical Garden is set to debut a “The Nightmare Before Christmas” themed light trail, inspired by Tim Burton’s 1993 film, on Sept 27. The experience will run through Nov. 30, with operating hours from dusk until 10 p.m.

The trail features over 8,300 square feet of light installations created by technology including itneractive video projection, intelligent LED lighting and 3D printed sculptures of the film’s characters.

The trail is created by Adventurelive and Letsgo, and presented by a special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical. Tickets start at $39 for children and $49 for adults and can be purchased online.

We knew something was on its way from Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski but we weren’t expecting this: a new animated movie from Warner Bros. Animation and WB Home Entertainment.

Straczynski described it as: “Classic Babylon 5: raucous, heartfelt, nonstop, a ton of fun through time and space, and a love letter to the fans.”

It might not be as well known as his comic-book work, but Straczynski actually has a background in animation – writing episodes of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra: Princess of Power, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Captain Power, The Real Ghostbusters, and other 1980s action favorites.

We know that Bruce Boxleitner is back – which is also fitting, as he’s got some hefty voice acting chops, reprising his most famous other science fiction role for the 2012 show Tron: Uprising – but we’re going to have to wait another week for more details.

With the announcement of Tron 3, it sounds like Disney is already wasting Tron: Legacy’s perfect villain setup. Already, Disney has had a messy past with Tron, whether it be the forgotten sequel Tron 2.0, the mishandling of Tron: Uprising, or Tron 3’s turbulent development. These unrealized prospects and untapped potential beg the question of how much good faith remains in another Tron sequel after so much disappointment.

When Alberto Mielgo was developing his animated short film, “The Windshield Wiper,” he knew he didn’t want to do traditional family-friendly animation. He found himself coming back to a theme he’s always been drawn towards: relationships. “I kind of end up using it in many of my projects. I feel that nowadays, love is evolving together with society and now society has drastically changed over the last decade,” Mielgo tells us during our recent webchat (watch the video interview above). Focusing on this theme led to him going down many different paths that would help lead him to what he wanted to make. “This film talks about where is love nowadays in terms of society. Alberto Mielgo, who won an Emmy for his work on Tron: Uprising and is up for another for his episode of Netflix’s animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots, is making his first feature film. Stampede, the production outfit run by Greg Silverman, has come aboard to produce the pic, which Mielgo will write and direct based on an original concept. The plot is under wraps. Vince Gerardis of Startling will serve as producer, along with John Morgan.

Mielgo was credited as a visual consultant for his early work on Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which ended up winning the Animated Feature Oscar this year. The Spanish animator’s episode “The Witness” from Love, Death & Robots was nominated last week for an Emmy in the Outstanding Short Form Animated Program category.

The new deal was negotiated by Chris Bosco and Anna Pinar of Stampede and Gerardis.

I have high hopes for this Amazing Stories reboot. Judging by what these two guys did with Once Upon a Time, it seems like the series will be in good hands. The series was previously being developed by Brad Fuller, but he ended up dropping out because "Fuller’s vision for the show did not mesh with the more family-friendly approach sought by Apple and Amblin Television."

The news comes just days after “Once Upon a Time” aired its series finale on ABC after seven seasons. In addition, the duo has signed a four-year extension of their current deal at ABC Studios, which will keep them at the studio through 2022.

Once Upon a Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have been tapped as executive producers/showrunners of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories series reboot for Apple. Additionally, the duo, whose ABC fairytale drama Once Upon a Time just wrapped its seven-season run on ABC, recently signed a new four-year extension to their overall deal with Once producer ABC Studios, which will keep them exclusive to the studio in all areas — broadcast, cable and streaming — through 2022.

Lost alums Kitsis and Horowitz, who have projects in development at ABC Studios, have been loaned out by the studio to work on Amazing Stories, one of the the first original scripted series ordered by Apple. They succeed original writer/showrunner Bryan Fuller and his No.2 Hart Hanson who exited the series earlier this year over creative differences.

Nearly eight years after the release of Tron: Legacy, fans have mostly given up on the chances of seeing another chapter in the cyberpunk saga, but the Tron franchise lives on, albeit on life support. The underrated and little-seen animated spin-off series, Tron: Uprising, originally aired in 2012, is currently streaming on Hulu. Meanwhile, the computer setting of The Grid made a show-stopping appearance in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, which was recently re-released for PlayStation 4. There has been talk of a franchise relaunch starring Jared Leto, but time will tell if the project ever makes it off the ground.

Charlie Bean, who is best known for directing The Lego Ninjago Movie, has officially signed on to helm Disney's live-action/CGI remake of Lady and the Tramp. The project is a priority for Disney to be made exclusively for their new streaming platform in 2019. In recent years, monster fans have heard the mighty roar of the radioactive reptile, and the King of the Monsters shows no signs of slowing down, as Netflix and Toho are now teaming up for a new anime Godzilla project.

I did a double take upon hearing Theodore Ushev‘s name alongside his animated short Blind Vaysha during the Oscar nominations because I’ve watched his work progress the past five years. This Canadian by way of Bulgaria is a Toronto International Film Festival staple, a guy who alters his aesthetic with every new project. Whether rotoscoping, hybridizing Cubism and Constructivism, or dabbling in Abstract Expressionism, though, you always know it’s an Ushev film because of its content and craftsmanship. His latest is no different, the adoption of woodcutting lending an old school storybook feel to a tale that speaks towards today’s climate of hope and despair. Today, Warner Bros. released a full trailer, and it features a ton of entertaining footage showing off some great humor. This looks like it will be a blast and a worthy addition to the studio's Lego movie franchise.

Today we have our first look at the latest brick-built CG animated film with the release of the The Lego Ninjago Movie trailer. The enormous success of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Lego Movie, and another certain box office bonanza courtesy of Chris McKay’s The Lego Batman Movie, made this new film an obvious choice.

The toy range on which this new movie is based was originally released in 2011. Quickly adding engaging characters and a cohesive world, blending modern and ancient elements, to Lego’s previous ninja set, Ninjago has spawned dozens of sets and figures. There are whole libraries of books as well as six series of animated TV adventures. A feature film based on the toy range will have a huge audience eager to catch the Masters of Spinjitzu on the big screen.

After The Lego Movie proved to be one of the surprise hits (and also one of the best animated films) of its respective year, Warner Bros. quickly moved ahead on follow-ups. Before an official sequel will arrive in 2019, we’ll be getting two features in the cinematic universe. With this week’s The Lego Batman Movie (our review), we’re also getting the first trailer for The Lego Ninjago Movie ahead of its fall release.

Produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and directed by Charlie Bean (Tron: Uprising), the voice cast features Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods, and Jackie Chan. Based on the TV show and toy line, it features secret ninja warriors teaming up to fight an evil warlord.

I had no idea the Ninjago Lego franchise was so big! I guess I could've assumed seeing as it had its own TV show, but geez, what a lineup for a children's film! Collider says the Lego Ninjago film doesn't come out until around 2018, but the cast list has been announced and it's pretty nuts! Take a look:
