Exclusive: Britton Webb has joined the thriller Don’t Forget Me Tomorrow. He replaces Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), who was previously announced for the project, and will star opposite Charlotte Kirk (Duchess).

Director on the project is Travis Mills, who most recently directed the upcoming Western Frontier Crucible, starring Thomas Jane, Armie Hammer and William H. Macy. Producers are Kirk, Erica Steele (Don’t Kill It) and Karlos Ways (Mistletoe & Wine).

In the movie, Kirk will play Dakota Cooper, a single mother trying to rebuild her life in a small town when a mysterious figure from her past returns, forcing her to confront old secrets, rekindled love and new danger. Webb plays Ryder Nash, the enigmatic ex-con whose return threatens to unravel and ultimately redefine Dakota’s carefully rebuilt life.

When you see images of Charlotte Kirk looking like a tough action heroine, you usually expect those images to be from a Neil Marshall film, as the couple has recently collaborated on Duchess, The Lair, and The Reckoning – but yesterday, the folks at Coming Soon unveiled a trio of images that show Kirk as the tough heroine in the upcoming action thriller Myra, and this is not a Neil Marshall movie. Currently in production in Tijuana, Mexico, Myra is coming our way from director R. Director Michael Merino’s upcoming action-thriller “Clutch,” starring Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn 6), Kaiwi Lyman (Den of Thieves), Augie Duke (Mayans M.C.), Mike Ferguson (Showdown at the Grand), with Michael Pare’ (Streets of Fire) and Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2) has wrapped production and is headed into post.

“Clutch” was partially inspired by true events; writer-producer Michael Merino based the story on a real life car-jacking of a female rideshare-driver who was taken hostage by a criminal on the run from his less-than-law-abiding accomplices, who were involved in a deleterious enterprise that was never solved.

According to the official logline, “Clutch” follows the story of Tonya (Sadie Katz), whose life is in a bit of a shambles and works as a share-driver to make ends-meet, and is under the thumb of her sugar daddy (Michael Pare’). One evening while working Tonya is car-jacked and finds herself in the dark underbelly of the city’s mob.

The struggle to keep movie theaters alive gets very personal in “Showdown at the Grand,” an enjoyable tribute to retro exploitation pictures with Terrance Howard as a movie palace proprietor besieged by diminishing receipts and violent goons. Dolph Lundgren plays the former action star who shows up for a personal appearance, then stays to help save the joint from those agents of unscrupulous developers. More low-key homage than campy cartoon, writer-director Orson Oblowitz’s fourth feature does manage to deliver some tongue-in-cheek mayhem in an extended climax.

The setting is an actual vintage art deco temple for cinema, San Pedro’s Warner Grand, though rather than being managed by the City of Los Angeles (as it is off-screen), it’s kept alive here as a none-too-successful for-profit labor of love by George Fuller (Howard). Terrence Howard returns to the screen with one of his finest roles in a while, as the owner of a movie theatre in Showdown at the Grand. To mark the film’s release we spoke to the actor who discusses the role at hand, and the stylistic nature of the production, in what is a personal, candid interview with the experienced performer.

Given the film is, in part, a love letter to cinema, we asked him about his own memories from his formative years, and his first experiences at the theatre – while he also speaks about working with one of his heroes, in action star Dolph Lundgren. Howard then looks ahead, and addresses his own future in the industry, and whether or not he still plans to retire.

Shout Studios acquired North American rights to “The Kill Room,” a thriller starring Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Joe Manganiello.

The distribution and production division of indie Shout Factory has emerged victorious in a bidding war at Cannes Film Festival. Shout Studios plans to release the film in theaters this fall.

“The Kill Room” was directed by Nicol Paone and written by Jonathan Jacobson. The dark comedic-thriller follows an art dealer (Thurman) who teams with a hitman (Manganiello) and his boss (Jackson) for a money laundering scheme.
