The first trailer for “Our Flag Means Death” Season 2 has arrived, and it’s full of old romances and new characters.

The show picks up right where Season 1 left off. “Our Flag Means Death” will follow Gentleman Pirate captain Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) as he tries to reunite his crew and apologize to his best friend and new love, Ed, aka Blackbeard (Taika Waititi).

After a near-death experience, Season 1 ended with Stede choosing to return to his old life and wife rather than sail away with Ed. It wasn’t a rejection that the notoriously violent Blackbeard took well and that’s set to be a main crux of this new season.

In addition to Darby and Waititi, Season 2 stars returning cast members Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, David Fane, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon and Leslie Jones.

After nearly a year and a half of waiting, Max’s pirate rom-com “Our Flag Means Death” will return on Oct. 5.

The first teaser for this new installment picks up right where Season 1 left off. Though the newly-in-love Stede (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) planned to run away together, a hostile encounter kept Stede away from the man he loves. Stede’s holdup caused Blackbeard to believe he had been abandoned.

The teaser starts with Stede tossing a bottled message into the ocean as his voiceover reads, “Dear Ed, I love everything about you. I love being near you, breathing the same air.”

As Stede waxes poetic about his new love, Blackbeard angrily growls “F–k you, Stede Bonnet.” The rest of the teaser bounces between Stede reading his love letter and defending Blackbeard and his heartbroken lover generally causing havoc in any way he can.

This year has seen the release of several new comedic golds, including Beef, Mrs. Davis, and Apple TV+'s Shrinking, as well as a slew of returning shows, like Ted Lasso, Succession, and Barry. You might think that the Bay Area would already have its hands full preparing to host Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, but it looks like an entirely different type of event will accompany it that weekend. Super City 50 : Urban Edm Event will add to the weekend’s festivities by providing much-needed musical draw, making for a single-day event that should appeal to a considerable number of electronic music fans in the area.

The event already has three big names on its roster: Diplo, Alesso and The Chainsmokers. Los Angeles-based collective Low End Theory will curate its own stage, at which artists like Gaslamp Killer and Eprom are slated to perform. In addition, there will be one final artist on the lineup – but the event’s organizers have yet to reveal who it might be.

The Anzac spirit will be celebrated in two miniseries that received funding on Tuesday from Screen Australia. While both projects had been announced, the cast for Anzac Girls has been revealed and it.s been confirmed that Sam Worthington is highly likely to star in The Gallipoli Story.

Also funded was Catching Milat, a two-part telemovie recounting the investigation that led to the arrest of serial killer Ivan Milat.

Produced by Screentime for ABC TV, Anzac Girls will chronicle the true story of five young military nurses from Australia and New Zealand who experienced horror, heartbreak and triumph caring for the soldiers at Gallipoli and the Western Front.

Taika Waititi, the New Zealand-born filmmaker behind Sundance picks "Eagle vs Shark" and "Boy," is attached to direct a pilot presentation for "Super City" for ABC. According to Deadline, the potential series is a U.S. remake of a New Zealand show of the same name featuring Madeleine Sami, New Zealand's answer to Tracey Ullman. On the original, which Waititi also directed, Sami played five different characters who all live in Auckland City -- an aging actress/party girl, an Iranian taxi driver, a closeted trainer, a woman who works to support impoverished artists and a homeless girl who finds a baby in a dumpster (a trailer for the six-episode series is below). Sami would return as creator and star of the adaptation, which will presumably have to be shifted for U.S. sensibilities, since the footage below looks grounded in New Zealand specifics that may have a hard time translating in terms of humor.

Exclusive: ABC has picked up Super City, a comedy presentation, which will be produced by ABC Studios. Word is that the project would go through a long-rumored ABC Studios unit, code name Keystone. Keystone, which has been in the works for awhile and has not been formally launched yet, would focus on low-cost production. Super City is an adaptation of the New Zealand comedy series of the same name created by and starring Madeleine Sami and directed by Taika Waititi. On the show, which premiered on New Zealand’s TV3 network last year, Sami transforms into five different characters whose lives intersect — an aging cheerleader, an immigrant taxi driver, a closeted lesbian gym instructor, a woman fostering impoverished artists, and a homeless girl who finds and adopts a baby.
