Every review I read made the inevitable comparisons to Tootsie. Yes, they are both about actors posing as a woman because they need the work. There are other similarities in the story arc, but there are many touches that I found set this apart. The fun it pokes at "Hollywood" - the megalithic American film industry, is again, not groundbreaking, but quite funny. The actors getting a little too wrapped up in their roles is also amusing considering the roles they're playing. This is light comedy done quite competently. The story arc may not be terribly unique or memorable, but for this viewer, as a series of amusing moments rather than a satisfying whole, it's not a bad watch. Sorry if this review seems tepid. It may not be a great film, but it's a good film. I don't regret the time spent watching it. If expectations are modest, you may enjoy it too.
Yesterday after watching Havoc on Netflix, i wanted to go game online but my internet decided otherwise. I was then left with nothing else to do but dig into my movie backlog that didn't required internet. I was already pretty tipsy so i picked one rather quick. After an action movie, i tought a light hearted comedy would do the trick.
I didn't even realized this was a German movie. All i knew was that some dude would go undercover in drag, wich can be fun at times, especially as Hollywood would probably be afraid to this in our current era (2025).
Overall it turned out to be more of a romcom than anything else. Yes the whole "man in drag" part brough a few laugh and funny situations, but i never felt it was going for "laughing out loud" moments or anything. I do enjoy romcoms so no issue there.
The main point seem to be the relationship with the star actress in the fictional movie they are making and our main character wich is disguised as a woman because he needed work as an actor.
That said relationship was fine. It had its touchy moments and overall i enjoyed the movie fine. I have to specify that i rarely watch 2 movies back to back and i really wanted to game online at that moment, so this was really plan B. Maybe i would had enjoyed it a tad more if it had been the first (and only) movie i would had watch that night as i opened my first beer.
Basically i am "reviewing" it in a subjective way (like i mostly do with every movies anyway) rather than a fully objective way. And in that concept, set up and state of mind can alter my perception of a movie. What im trying to say is maybe a different night this movie could had been a 7, but i am gonna give it a 6 out of 10. Fun, enjoyable for what it was, but not one that left a huge impression on me either.

As a big fan of Dustin Hoffman's and of "Tootsie," my first thought was, of course, that this was a rehash with the same basic plot, just in a different language. All similarities aside (and you may judge for yourself whether it's a good or a bad "remake"), I have to say one thing that puts this movie far above all other "men in drag" movies: Even while I was fully aware at all times that I was looking at a man pretending to be a woman, this is the only film that ever convinced me that nobody around him would see through the disguise. Matthias Schweighöfer seemed perfectly at ease in high heels and never looked like Curtis and Lemmon in "Some Like It Hot" or Hoffman in "Tootsie" or Williams in "Mrs. Doubtfire" -- he WAS a woman on screen, and he could have played the role of a woman from the beginning to the end AS a woman, without anybody in the audience realizing he's a man (unless you know him or read the credits). In this sense, this movie should be the benchmark for all future films of this kind.
It's the closest thing you can do to get the experience of a lobotomy.
I feel personally offended as a human being. There wasn't a minute, where I didn't cringe. My expectations were low, but this movie easily underachieved them. The humor was awful and it is hard to live in a reality where people find this movie funny. I lost all hope in humanity. It is easy to say that this movie broke me and something died inside my soul that can never be repaired! I don't know what a movie is anymore
I don't know you, person out-there, but do me one favor and never watch this movie! It is for the best of you!
