A brand new poster for the upcoming Wwi zombie thriller Overlord has arrived online. The movie comes from J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot and, though he's not in the director's chair for this one, as he's busy filming Star Wars 9, this very much looks like something he would cook up. In any case, this movie looks absolutely nuts so far and this latest poster is further evidence that it should be on your radar heading into the fall season.
The poster itself is pretty simple, but there's some heavy-handedness to its first-glance straightforwardness. We see a plane dropping in some paratroopers to what we can presume is a pretty nasty warzone. Or at least that's what it looks like. What's really going on here is a blood splatter that hints at the carnage coming our way. The top of the poster also proudly boasts that the movie comes from producer J.

Paramount Music will release the 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi – Music from the Motion Picture digitally on January 15, 2016. The album features the film’s original score by Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, Penguins Of Madagascar).
“The film is really about the soldiers’ ordeal and how they coped with the situation at hand,” said Balfe. “Michael (Bay) does a great job keeping the film from becoming political. The film is really here to honor the soldiers and the men and women who ultimately had to step up and do everything they could to save as many people as possible.”
From director Michael Bay, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi is the gripping true story of six elite ex-military operators assigned to protect the CIA who fought back against overwhelming odds when terrorists attacked a U.S. diplomatic compound on September 11, 2012. When everything went wrong, six men had the courage to do what was right.

Here's one of those 'This'll make you feel old' factoids - it's two years since the last ever episode of Skins aired.
E4's groundbreaking hormone-fest wrapped up on August 5, 2013 - with an older Cook (Jack O'Connell) heading off into an uncertain future at the close of 'Rise (Part Two)'.
Cook was but one of 27 major characters featured on Skins across three 'Generations' - in a total of 61 episodes, split into seven series. But where are the teen tearaways of Roundview College now?
Generation One
1. Nicholas Hoult
Hoult played Tony Stonem - the pre-eminent bad boy of Skins - across its first two series. Later badly hurt in a traffic accident and forced to rely on others, Tony had mellowed by his final episodes.
Now aged 25, Hoult has become a bona-fide Hollywood star with roles in this year's Mad Max: Fury Road and the much-anticipated book adaptations Dark Places and Kill Your Friends.

Boyhood Well, this may be your chance to get this year's Best Picture winner on your Blu-ray shelf before it's even nominated. Lord knows it's the critical favorite, just have a look at the points Boyhood has wracked up on MetaCritic's critic top ten tracker. 307 with The Grand Budapest Hotel in a distant second with 149. Of course, this is pretty much a barebones release and we all expect a Criterion release in the future. So it's up to you, do you want your Boyhood now or can you wait a whilec Because it might be a long while.
The Guest I mistakenly thought this came out a couple weeks ago. It didn't. But hey, now when I write about it I can say it was one of my top ten movies of 2014. I really do love this movie and think you will too. For more, here's my theatrical review.

Stars: Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, James Corden, Hailee Steinfeld, Mos Def, Catherine Keener, Mary Catherine Garrison, Marco Assante | Written and Directed by John Carney
When I started to watch Begin Again my initial thoughts were of déjà vu. Seemingly following the same style of plot similar to Not Another Happy Ending, I expected Mark Ruffalo’s music producer to fall in love with Keira Knightley’s aspiring musician. Happily though I found that assumptions can often be wrong.
When Dan (Mark Ruffalo) loses his position at the record label he helped form it looks like he’s finally lost everything. Spending the day getting drunk, he ends up at a small bar where he discovers Gretta (Keira Knighley) performing one of her songs at an open-mic night. Captivated by her talent he offers to help her become a star, triggering a change not only in her life but his too.

When teenage Kaylie’s younger brother, Tim, was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents, she made it her life’s mission to prove the law was wrong. In the upcoming horror movie Oculus (review), Garret Ryan is relentlessly tormented by Katee Sackhoff. Not a bad gig, right? But let me tell you… this is not the sexy Starbuck "Battlestar Galactica" Sackhoff...
...and it’s certainly not the glamour gal of magazine fashion spreads and red carpet events…
In Oculus the buxom blonde is reduced to a frothing, clawing, lunatic mom who’s out to kill her daughter, Kaylie (Annalise Basso), and son, Tim (Ryan); and she will stop at nothing.
When it comes to life vs. death, Tim must take matters into his own hands. But just because crazy-mom is dead, it doesn’t mean she’s gone!
Read on to see what Garrett has to say about that and more.
Dread Central: We'd love to know all about Oculus -- who do you play, and what's the story?
Garret Ryan: I play the role of young Tim Russell.

Iain De Caestecker is on the rise. He’s currently starring in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on TV, and in the fast year we’ve seen him on the big screen in In Fear and Filth, and we’ll be seeing him again soon in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. We spoke to Iain about all of those projects, as well as his new film, Not Another Happy Ending, a rom-com filmed in his native Scotland in which he stars alongside Karen Gillan.

When I decided to review Not Another Happy Ending the reason for this was pretty obvious, as a Doctor Who fan I was interested in a movie where Karen Gillan took a lead role. As Amy she was arguably one of the most popular companions to The Doctor and with her moving onto Guardians of the Galaxy it looks like she has a huge future in the movie business. What I was interested in was how she could handle a role that required more acting than action, though to be fair she had her moments in Doctor Who with her Raggedy Man (fans will know who I mean).

When Karen Gillan left her role as Amy Pond in Doctor Who back in late 2012 many people, myself included, were understandably saddened. She brought a certain feistiness to the role not previously seen in a companion of the Doctor and this made her all the more interesting and appealing as a character. Unlike other cast members of the science-fiction show, many of whom have made do with parts in other British television dramas or soaps (and yes there are some good ones), Gillan has managed to make it to Hollywood. She is soon to be seen as super villain Nebula in the upcoming Marvel movie Guardians Of The Galaxy, the only price to pay being the loss of her precious ginger locks.
But before she shaved all her hair off she made a small, independent rom-com called Not Another Happy Ending. Now, romantic comedies are a tough film to get right.

We had a chance to sit down with director Mike Flanagan to discuss his new flick, Oculus (review), so we jumped at it. Read on for the scoop on the film, where it's going from here, and of course... what kind of terrors await you.
For those that don't know, Oculus was originally released as a short film many years ago so we asked Mike why he had decided to revisit the film and flesh it out further.
"We did Oculus the short back in 2005. I always hoped that it would turn into an anthology series. I wanted to do more shorts, but unfortunately I was never able to scrape together the resources to do so. However, once it went out and hit the festivals for a while, there was an immediate interest in a feature length expansion. The movie is home to mirrors and cameras inside of a room,...

Fireworks is a charming indie comedy about a teenage girl, Kat, who runs away from home to find her uncle Gillies, who she has secretly discovered is her real dad. But Gillies, played by the fantastic Ewen Bremner, turns out to have bipolar disorder. Without fully understanding this, Kat hatches a plan for them to make a homemade firework, with Gillies' medication as the essential ingredient.
The Fireworks production team are now looking for a talented, bold, headstrong young woman to play the lead role of Kat.
Our bright new star doesn’t need any acting experience, but she does need to be bold, funny and brave. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will be a young-looking sixteen year old with a London accent, but we are prepared to be blown away by any fresh new star who can play a 13-14 year old London girl.

Karen Gillan swaps Amy Pond for Edinburgh in her new movie Not Another Happy Ending. Since departing Doctor Who in 2012, Gillan has switched her attention to the big screen with the aforementioned romantic comedy, Oculus and Marvel's blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy.
Over the course of Doctor Who's 50-year history, the show has both scooped up established film stars (Peter Capaldi, Christopher Eccleston) and propelled others to big feature film roles (Carey Mulligan, Matt Smith).
Digital Spy takes a look back through Who history to pick out 14 actors who've had notable roles on the big screen.

The Fifth Estate | Le Week-end | Machete Kills | Not Another Happy Ending | Baggage Claim | Romeo & Juliet | Nobody's Daughter Haewon
The Fifth Estate (15)
(Bill Condon, 2013, Us/Bel) Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Brühl, David Thewlis, Laura Linney, Peter Capaldi. 128 mins
Cumberbatch was seemingly born to play Julian Assange, though this pacy hot-button-issue thriller struggles to make the Wikileaks story into another Social Network. There are some questionable cinematic flourishes (ooh, cyberspace!), but at the core is the bromance between Brühl's wide-eyed German techie (Daniel Berg) and the enigmatic Aussie – partners in a morally hazardous social justice crusade that climaxes with, er, the Guardian.
Le Week-end (15)
(Roger Michell, 2013, UK) Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan, Jeff Goldblum. 93 mins
Before Midnight for seniors, as a 60-something couple's Parisian second honeymoon gives rise to bickering, regrets, and fears for the future, but youthful romantic comedy too. There's wit and wisdom in the writing and the seasoned performers are very good company.

Karen Gillan leaps from Doctor Who's Tardis to the big screen this week with Not Another Happy Ending, a romantic comedy about an author struggling to pen her second novel.
Digital Spy sat down with the former Amy Pond to discuss life with a shaved head, being a real-life klutz, her Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Rocket Raccoon and the actor's equivalent to writer's block.
"Every time I get a new script I freak out and don't know what to do with the character," she said. "I have a mini freak-out every single time, but now I've started to realise that I do that every time so it's not as scary anymore.
"You can collaborate with other people on it, but writers are just along with their laptops."
Not Another Happy Ending opens in UK cinemas on October 11.

★★☆☆☆ John McKay's Not Another Happy Ending (2013) is a breezy and harmless if ultimately forgettable romantic comedy set in and around the city of Glasgow. Jane (former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan), a struggling novelist, finds herself thrust into the limelight when her first novel, a memoir about the trails of her own family, becomes an overnight success. With her newfound status, her life sees improvement. Not only does she fall in love with screenwriter Willie (Henry Ian Cusick), but she also starts to reconnect with her estranged father. All this, however, has a negative effect on her ability to complete her sophomore novel.
Thus, Jane's loyal publisher Tom (Stanley Weber) and his assistant Roddy (Iain De Caestecker, in the film's funniest role) sets about to diminish this fresh wave of romantic positivity. Boasting a moderately good premise that both embraces and satirises the well-worn clichés of the rom-com genre,...

How far can a film go based solely on the performance of its star? Turns out a fair distance if Scottish rom-com Not Another Happy Ending is anything to go by. Doctor Who star Karen Gillan, in her first leading movie role, carries this film by the scruff of the neck with a quirky and well-measured performance as an up-and-coming novelist who's struggling to get the creative juices flowing on her second book.
Gillan plays Jane Lockhart, a woman who mined her turbulent upbringing (notably paternal abandonment) into a debut novel that shot her onto the literary A-list. Fame, awards and romance with Hollywood screenwriter Willie (Lost's Henry Ian Cusick) swiftly followed, but Jane's happiness proves to be her downfall. When she's content she can't write,...

Filth (18)
(Jon S Baird, 2013, UK) James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots. 97 mins
Drugs, sleaze, sex, Scots, Irvine Welsh – is it 1996 again? This is just as energetic as Trainspotting, but less hip and more theatrically grim, wallowing in the debauchery and mania of a copper bent way out of shape. The only subtlety to be found is on the face of McAvoy, whose committed performance holds it all together.
