Back in 2009, director Robert Green Hall introduced the world to a chrome-masked maniac called ChromeSkull in the very cool slasher Laid to Rest. A divisive sequel called ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 followed two years later – and as the years went by, Hall let it be known that he intended to make another sequel called Laid to Rest: Exhumed. Sadly, he wasn’t able to make that movie before he passed away unexpectedly back in 2021. But Nick Principe – who recently wrote and starred in the horror thriller Johnny & Clyde and also played ChromeSkull in both Laid to Rest movies – has revealed to our friends at Bloody Disgusting that he intends to continue the Laid to Rest franchise with a comic book called The Reflection of Fear!
Principe explained why he’s moving forward with a comic book instead of trying to get another Laid to Rest movie into production: “To be totally honest,...

After going as quiet as its titular hunter for a while, several new details have now emerged regarding director Dan Trachtenberg's upcoming Predator reboot, including that the movie will be a prequel detailing the first time a Predator visits Earth. Thanks to a recent chat between producers John Davis and John Fox and Collider, we now know that Skull is "an origin story about the Predator's first journey to this planet," and that it will have a similar tone to the 2015 Oscar winner The Revenant.
"[Skull] has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon," Davis revealed. "You'll know what I mean once you see it." The Revenant was well regarded for its brutal depiction of its merciless natural surroundings, something which would certainly work well with a man-versus-Predator battle at its center. "It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work,...

There was a sombre moment a few years ago when fans of 80s sci-fi actioner Predator leaned back in their chairs and stared into the middle distance while contemplating the state of the franchise. Shane Black’s The Predator had just been released in theaters after some infamous reshoots and controversy, and it was not well received on arrival. If Black – one of the stars of the original Predator and the man who went on to give us the likes of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys – couldn’t even make a great Predator movie, who could?
The answer, according to the new film’s producer John Davis, is Dan Trachtenberg. The 10 Cloverfield Lane director is about three-quarters of the way through filming his new female-led franchise installment, a Predator origin story that has dispensed with the Predator name and is now just going by ‘Skull’.

It has been a little while since the last update on Dan Trachtenberg's surprise Predator movie, but it is finally here. Thanks to the Jungle Cruise media show, Collider were able to speak to producers John Davis and John Fox about the upcoming reboot of the franchise, including confirming the title of the movie will be Skull. It is a prequel to the original Arnie classic and filming is almost done. They also confirmed that just like the would-be rival Alien franchise, this new installment to the Predator story will have a female hero.
Davis told Collider, "It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It's the ingenuity of a human being who won't give up, who's able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force," he said. "It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does...

Give us a “Hell yeah!” Tomorrow is 3:16, which makes this week “Stone Cold Week” in the eyes of the WWE Universe. TheWrap can exclusively reveal the trailer for the event, which includes “Birth of the Stunner” and a “Broken Skull Sessions” episode featuring Randy Orton.
Crack open a cold one and watch the trailer above.
“Stone Cold Week” will be a transitional period for the professional wrestling company’s programming, in that it will begin Tuesday on WWE Network and transition to Peacock on Thursday. That’s because WWE Network is being folded into the NBCUniversal streaming service on Thursday, March 18. However, WWE Network will still be available as a standalone service until April 4, so subscribers not following WWE’s sunsetting SVOD platform can still watch the entirety of “Stone Cold Week” — and Sunday’s “Fastlane” pay-per-view.

Legendary Comics has announced a series of books that will tie into the upcoming Godzilla Vs Kong. The companion publishing program will allow fans to dive deeper into stories relating to the cinematic showdown. It will feature two new epic prequel graphic novels; an anthology featuring past fan-favorite comic series; an original children's picture book and a young children's board book; an official behind-the-scenes art book; and an official novelization. Each title will set the stage for this not-to-be-missed battle royale. Robert Napton, Senior Vice President of Legendary Comics, had this to say.
"As with previous installments in the Monsterverse franchise, Legendary Comics is excited to expand the story universe by paving the way for the cinematic clash with two prequel graphic novels that will tell separate tales of our favorite Titans. Steve Austin’s WWE interviews have, at times, been a mixed bag, but most of them have offered some unique insights and entertaining moments, especially those with Vince McMahon, Triple H, The Undertaker and this one, with Kurt Angle.
Angle has had one hell of a career, both as an Olympic wrestler and a pro-wrestler, and Steve Austin, in his humanistic and working-man manner, speaks with his former opponent and peer about that career, the ups and downs he’s experienced in his personal life, and all in-between. It’s a long, riveting interview that feels honest and open, but manages to keep things light enough at times so as not to be overly dark. Kurt talks with a matter of factness that goes a long way to making him appear likeable and changed from his years as a man struggling with so-called “demons”.

Red Skull is Steve Rogers’ true nemesis as the Hydra leader is a twisted reflection of Captain America. Both Johann Schmidt and Rogers took Dr. Erskine’s Super Soldier Serum, but while the latter became a paragon of strength and courage, the former was hideously deformed, hence the nickname given to him by Adolf Hitler. But why exactly did this happen to the villain?
Well, Erskine tells Steve that it’s because the serum amplifies the properties already within the person who takes it. However, this doesn’t really explain the physical transformation that Schmidt went through. Reddit user u/rafael-a has now shared their thoughts on the science behind Red Skull’s origins, though, to the r/FanTheories subreddit, and what they put forward is pretty convincing.

Comic books can get away with just about anything, as fans have become accustomed to increasingly outlandish and insane stories over the decades, but when it comes to their big screen adaptations, the filmmakers usually have to try and adapt established origins and narrative arcs to fit the vision for the movie, especially for a franchise like the Marvel Cinematic Universe where everything is connected.
Most of the McU’s major heroes have largely retained their accepted origin stories, and they even made the wise decision not to show us how Peter Parker became Spider-Man because we’ve already seen it happen numerous time before. And for the most part, audiences have just accepted it and moved on, no questions asked.

Although it’s looking increasingly likely that we won’t see Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong until 2021, news is still coming out about the monster dust-up movie. Armando Fonseca and Kapel Furman’s Skull is a bloody-brutal, bloody-barbaric, blood-bloody-bloody Brazilian midnighter that emphasizes over-the-top deaths. A simple concept and to-the-point execution anchors focus on an ancient berzerker summoned by those who should not harness such monstrous powers. Scene after scene is slathered in Maniac-grade sleaziness, as innocents feed a bloodlust that frequently results in kills that’ll have you mouthing “what the f*ck” after another victim’s tailbone stabs into the next poor clubgoer’s cranium. Awaken the devil? You get the horns, alright.

Reality TV has long been a thorn in our sides. No matter how you slice it, there's no reason for the cast of "Honey BooBoo" or "Duck Dynasty" to be celebrities, and while we are at it... who gives a shit what the real housewives of wherever are fighting about now? It's about time someone took this kind of nonsense to task!
Even cooler? Our own Sean Decker co-produced, and the film features cameos by Ashlynn Yennie (The Human Centipede), Barbara Nedeljakova (Hostel), Carlee Baker (Lucky McKee's The Woman), and Allison Kyler (Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2).

Dread Central hopped a flight to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, October 3, in order to cover the opening of the haunt attraction Fright Dome at Adventuredome at Circus Circus, and we came back with not only a celebrity-filled gallery from the black carpet but also a report!
Arriving to the gusty Fright Dome carpet, we were beset by a menagerie of scare actors hired by Fright Dome creator and owner Jason Egan, who in true Tod Browning fashion had employed (among the requisite clowns and chainsaw-wielding madmen) individuals with actual physical anomalies, which were accentuated by entirely professional makeups. In addition to the duo of Johnny Eck-like young women with truncated torsos (who were made up as zombies and dashed about the carpet using their hands as locomotion), another actor sported a gruesome facial makeup which served to highlight his entirely empty optical orb (the result of sinus cancer,...

With Michael Berryman, Sully Erna and Nick Principe already in the cast of their upcoming film, you'd think producer Chad Verdi and Woodhaven Productions would rest on their laurels. But that's far from the case as the team has enlisted Tony Todd for their Army of the Damned.
"Tony Todd is a great actor and a horror legend," Verdi said. "He was the last piece of the puzzle that I felt this film needed to be the blockbuster I know it will be."
Todd will join Berryman, Erna and Principe along with entertainer Joey Fatone and former professional wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Thea Trinidad as well as David Chokachi, Jackie Moore and Tom Paolino in the Army of the Damned cast. The film will be directed by Tom DeNucci and photographed by cinematographer Sam Eilertsen. You can keep updated on the project by 'liking' Army of the Damned on Facebook.

With the recent Blu-ray release of Lightning Bug from Image Entertainment, I had a chance to talk with star Ashley Laurence and director Robert Hall. You may know Robert Hall from his effects work or Laid to Rest movies, but his first directorial effort was Lightning Bug in 2004 and it’s not what most people would have expected from him. During our interview time, I talked to him about going with a drama over an effects-heavy movie, revisiting the movie after all these years, and what projects he’s planning to direct in the future.
I know that Lightning Bug is a personal story for you and based on some of your past experiences. Can you tell me a bit about your time growing up in Alabama and how the story eventually evolved into Lightning Bug?
Robert Hall: I moved there when I was nine and I felt like a fish out of water.

Robert Hall’s Lightning Bug is now available on Blu-ray, and I had a chance to talk with Hellraiser‘s Ashley Laurence earlier today about her role in the movie. Continue reading to learn about her interest in taking on the part, her love of painting, and the issue some people have with her Geico commercial:
I just recently had a chance to watch the Blu-ray version of Lightning Bug and really enjoyed your performance in it. How did you first meet up with Robert Hall and why was Lightning Bug a movie you wanted to be involved in?
Ashley Laurence: I met Robert working on a horror film in Ireland, and we bonded creatively over some of the aspects in that film. We became friends and he told me he was writing a story that was semi-autobiographical. I was supportive of him and he wanted me to be a part of it.
