It’s no surprise that with David Lynch‘s passing earlier this month, filmmakers have been coming out of the woodwork to celebrate the man and his talent for the surreal, and being a source of inspiration for many. It wasn’t just filmmakers that were taking the time to talk about Lynch, however. Game developers such as Sam Lake to Hideo Kojima were also giving thanks for the man who inspired them.
As a result, there are several titles that have drawn inspiration from Lynch’s works, many of which are common knowledge, while some are lesser known. Regardless, once you dive into them, the light goes on and you realize yourself that Lynch himself could very well have made the crossover to video games at some point.
And really, who can forget that iconic PlayStation 2 commercial?
But enough rambling. Here’s a selection of titles that have roots...

A curious pattern has emerged in the field of so-called “AI art”. When someone wants to show off the ability of AI art to imitate a certain style and use it for other applications, the example they use is always Wes Anderson. Wes Anderson Avengers, shared by none other than the Russo brothers themselves, features characters like Star-Lord and Iron Man looking deadpan in retro wood-paneled hallways; Wes Anderson Star Wars shows the usual Anderson ensemble staring directly into the camera in various manicured spaceships; Wes Anderson Succession puts Kendall Roy in a hilariously out-of-character salmon-colored suit.

Edie Falco loves being a mom. The "Nurse Jackie" star has two kids - a son named Anderson and a daughter named Macy - whom she adopted in 2005 and 2008, respectively. While appearing on "Anderson" in April 2012, Falco said she felt an instant connection with her children when she first met them. "The second you are handed a newborn, it is yours," she said. "It doesn't matter what body it came out of. I've never felt more strongly about anything in my life."
In March 2018, she told Vulture that the urge to start a family came after being in a few serious relationships. "We were looking at marriage and then we were looking at kids, and then the relationship fell apart," she said. "If you're with someone you love and the idea of raising kids together feels fantastic, it starts to take root. So once the relationships ended, that was still alive in me.

While not every film director has a distinct imprimatur, Wes Anderson’s whimsical diorama schtick has gotten more pronounced over time. “The Royal Tenenbaums,” which seemed so meticulously crafted back in 2001, practically looks like Frederick Wiseman-vérité compared to clips of the upcoming “Asteroid City.”
Anyhow, with such bold aesthetic choices will naturally come reprisals—like jokers on the internet aping your style with the use of A.I. to make it look like you’ve directed a “Star Wars” movie. That brings us to the collective known as Curious Refuge, and their fake trailer for Anderson’s “The Galactic Menagerie.”
Personally, I can’t decide which shot I like best, the three Tie fighters with pastel hues just kinda staring at the lens or “Owen Wilson” as Darth Vader.
Though only one-minute long, the video has made its mark online. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, some have commented that...

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper are spilling their secrets!
On Sunday's Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the longtime pals played a game of "One, Two, AC!" with Kim Zolciak to test how well they know one another.
The game got off to a rocky start with the first question being whether Cohen wears boxers or briefs. Cooper guessed boxers but Cohen shared that he's a briefs man.
However, the Bravo host seemed to know his friend's TV tastes, because while Cooper said his favorite television program was Peaky Blinders, he later agreed with Cohen that he really liked Narcos.
As for what Cohen would dress up as if he "were to role play in the bedroom," Cooper quipped, "Snoopy." Cohen said he would be a cop.
Zolciak then pressed the men as to why they ever dated. "Never, that would be weird," Cohen replied.
"Very uncomfortable," Cooper added.

There's little mystery in Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper's friendship. On Bravo's Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Sunday, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak-Biermann asked the longtime friends a series of questions about each other. After a count of three, both Cohen and Cooper had to answer the reality star at the same time. Here are the questions Zolciak-Biermann asked: • "Does Andy wear boxers or briefs?" • "What is Anderson's favorite TV show?" • "If Andy were to role play in the bedroom, what would he dress as?" • "What is Anderson's worst fear?" • "At what age did...

CNN says it's gotten to the bottom of Anderson Cooper's Trump-bashing tweet ... and all signs point to a forgetful assistant. The mystery was cleared up Wednesday when the network said the message was sent from Cooper's assistant in NYC, while Anderson was in D.C. CNN says the assistant, who's been on the job for 10 years, left his phone unlocked and unattended at the gym, and someone grabbed it and fired off the tweet.

The women vying for Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s heart have finally been revealed!
ABC unveiled the 29 women hoping to find love on The Bachelor in a press release on Friday. Interestingly, shared the women "who can be revealed" -- and 29 is less than the 30 women who competed for Nick Viall last season of The Bachelor.
The average age of this season's women is 27, nine years younger than Luyendyk. Among them are four Laurens, two Rebeccas (though one spells her name Rebekah), two Brittanys (one spells her name Brittane), a Jenny and a Jenna. Something tells us things will get a little complicated on night one!

Anderson’s stop-motion animation – featuring the voices of Bryan Cranston and Tilda Swinton – will premiere in Berlin in February 2018
Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animation film Isle of Dogs is to receive its world premiere at the Berlin film festival on 15 February 2018, it has been announced.
Set in a dystopian future Japan in which all dogs have been exiled to a quarantine island after a mysterious “canine flu”, Isle of Dogs follows the lead character, a 12-year-old called Atari as he searches for his dog, Spots. Isle of Dog’s English-language voice cast includes Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton. The film found itself embroiled in a “whitewashing” controversy when its trailer was released, over its casting of primarily white American actors in a Japanese setting. However, it has since been revealed that Canadian-Japanese actor Koyu Rankin will voice the key role of Atari.

Over 20,000 people have joined PETA in calling on Thomas Cook to stop promoting and selling tickets to SeaWorld – and now, television icon Sharon Osbourne is among them.
Last month, The X Factor judge has sent a letter on PETA’s behalf calling on the travel provider to remove the notoriously cruel amusement park from its promotions, writing, “Orcas at SeaWorld never get a holiday. Day in and day out, they’re forced to live in barren, grotesquely small enclosures with no means of escape.”
She goes on to explain that in nature, orcas travel up to 100 miles a day – but at SeaWorld, they have no choice but to swim in circles in tiny tanks where they’re unable to play at will, choose their own mates, or engage in any other natural kinds of behaviour. The frustrated animals gnaw on the sides of their tanks until their teeth break, and...

In time for winter, PETA has released a “No Fur” enamel pin for fashion lovers who want to make a proud statement against fur.

The fox and wire motif was designed by London tattoo artist Emily Malice, and PETA pal Anaïs Gallagher (daughter of Oasis’ Noel Gallagher) fronts the campaign.
“Fur belongs on the animals who are born with it, and I’m proud to rock my fur-free status with this pin,” says Anaïs. “Don’t ever be afraid to speak up for animals – they need us to be their champions.”
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – notes that animals on fur farms are confined to cramped, filthy cages before they’re drowned, beaten, strangled, electrocuted, or even skinned alive for fur coats, collars, and cuffs. Animals caught in the...

Just in time for the busy holiday shopping season, actor Maggie Q appears holding a bloodied, skinned “rabbit” in an anti-fur ad for PETA that proclaims, “Here’s the Rest of Your Fur Trim.”
The Divergent star wants everyone to know that confidence and compassion are sexy — wearing corpses isn’t.
“Eyewitness exposés of fur farms in China, the world’s largest exporter of fur, have revealed that animals are confined to barren wire cages — exposed to all weather extremes — and that many go insane from the constant confinement and frantically pace and circle [in] their cages,” Maggie says. “I want people to make the connection that the choice to wear fur is directly contributing to mass suffering.”
PETA — whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” — notes that rabbits, foxes, minks, and other animals on fur farms are bludgeoned, electrocuted, killed, and even skinned alive for their fur.

Last Chance for Animals (Lca), along with a coalition of animal rights organizations and activists, led the annual “Fur Free Friday” demonstration in Beverly Hills over the weekend.
Mena Suvari and Donna D'Errico Protest on Fur Free Friday
The event, which included a march of more than 200 protesters along Rodeo Drive, aimed to raise awareness of the cruelties inflicted on the millions of fur-bearing animals that are slaughtered each year for the sake of fashion.
Actresses Mena Suvari and Donna D’Errico were among those who peacefully protested among bustling Black Friday shoppers, echoing comments made this year by luxury brand leaders that fur is not modern and going out of style.
The demonstration was organized and hosted by Lca and led by Bryan Monell, Lca’s Activist of the Year award recipient and former Lca undercover animal rights investigator who was instrumental in passing the historic West Hollywood fur ban.

In his seven weeks of shooting “The Shape of Water,” the film’s male lead, Doug Jones, could not grasp a doorknob, send a text message, breathe through his mouth, or go to the bathroom while in costume. Charles (Manson) In Charge is the much-anticipated 'Manson Family' episode Ahs aficionados have been waiting for since the earliest teaser-rumours. The misguided group of baby-boomer drifters ended the decade of love, peace and understanding in a trail of blood and a counter-revolutionary message. Manson’s plan was to race-bait the end of the world, hiding on a studio backlot in Death Valley until the time was right to save the day as the white guy who knows how things should be done. This is basically Kai Anderson’s message. The city councilman is riding a wave of hatred and division to...

When Annapurna Pictures moved into distribution, Hollywood viewed the move as bold but bizarre. In a market where indies struggle to survive, it was a strange time to reinvent a dying economic model. Now after several costly, high-profile failures, Annapurna and MGM will work together to distribute their films theatrically in the U.S.
Annapurna hired veteran talent — from ex-Weinstein distribution president Erik Lomis and studio marketing exec Marc Weinstock to Focus Features’ publicity chief Adrienne Bowles — but they inexplicably chose “Detroit” as its first release. From director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal, the Oscar-winning team behind “The Hurt Locker” and Annapurna’s “Zero Dark Thirty,” this intense recreation of the 1967 race riot in Detroit is a tough sit and demanded special handling from the neophyte distributor.
The movie (Metascore: 78) opened well in 20 theaters in late July, but collapsed when it went wide to 2,800 screens the following weekend. (It topped out at $16.8 million domestic.

Kathy Griffin and Andy Cohen are embroiled in feud that has left longtime fans of both stars shocked.
The drama erupted at the end of last week, when Cohen quipped that he didn’t know who Griffin was, which led the comedian to fire back, alleging Cohen asked her to do cocaine before appearing on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. (Cohen denied the accusation.)
Now, a source tells People that Griffin didn’t always see eye-to-eye with Cohen during their time working together at Bravo.

Andy Cohen just pulled a Mariah Carey.
Asked about replacing Kathy Griffin on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live, Cohen smiled and told TMZ, “Who? I don’t know her.”
It’s a reference to Carey’s infamous remark about not knowing Jennifer Lopez — “apparently I’m forgetful,” she quipped to Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2016.
Griffin, 56, retaliated on Twitter, pointing out that the stars have known each other for years. (Her show My Life on the D-List aired on Bravo for six seasons.)

The Oscar race isn’t over until the last movie screens, and this year one of the final contenders to be unveiled will be “Phantom Thread.” The drama marks the hugely anticipated reunion between Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis, who last worked together a decade ago on “There Will Be Blood.” The Upton Sinclair-inspired drama earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, and gave Day-Lewis his second trophy for Best Actor (he’d make history and win a third for “Lincoln” five years later), so anyone would be foolish to underestimate just how big “Phantom Thread” will be this awards season.
Focus Features has been keeping a majority of the details surrounding the movie under lock and key, although the official trailer was finally released on October 23, teasing a gorgeously shot drama about the romantic obsessions of a self-destructive artist. “Phantom Thread” seems to operating...

Daniel Day-Lewis has justifiably acquired a reputation as the most eccentrically chameleonic actors out there. However, this past summer, the 60-year-old actor and three-time Best Lead Actor Oscar winner announced his most shocking role to date: retiree. Consequently, the upcoming historical drama, Phantom Thread will purportedly stand as Day-Lewis’s final film role.
If the pledge holds, he’s going out with a bang, reunited with director Paul Thomas Anderson for an introspective character study.
The Phantom Thread trailer showcases what (for now,) stands as Daniel Day-Lewis’s last onscreen role before he takes a proverbial curtain call from the movie industry. Here, he delves into 1950s London, playing Reynolds Woodcock, a fashion designer and dressmaker for Britain’s high society types, be it royalty, celebrities, heiresses and the generally wealthy. The tradition of presidents reaching out to the families of U.S. servicemembers killed in action has been at the heart of an ongoing controversy surrounding President Donald Trump‘s recent call to the grieving widow of slain Army Sgt. La David Johnson, and Trump’s false claim that his predecessors did not make such calls.
In fact, the custom is long-established and many past presidents have reached out to Gold Star families to offer condolences through letters, private meetings and invitations.
That includes former President John F. Kennedy, who wrote one such letter to the grieving widow of Rudolf Anderson Jr.

Saturday Night Live reimagined Kellyanne Conway as Pennywise the Clown in an It parody that found Kate McKinnon reprising her roles as both the spotlight-loving Trump advisor and Hillary Clinton.

"You'll float too, Anderson." With Halloween lurking right around the corner like Haddonfield's favorite Shape, it's once again that magical time of year when Saturday Night Live reveals its horror-themed skits. Last year a new autumn icon was born with Tom Hanks' quotable David. S. Pumpkins, and now SNL has given us "Kellywise," their comedic (and creepy) twist on Pennywise from the new It movie.
Featuring Kate McKinnon as Kellyanne Conway and Alex Moffat as Anderson Cooper, the new "Kellywise" skit shows McKinnon's funny (yet still genuinely unsettling) take on Pennywise from the new It movie. Moffat's Cooper, meanwhile, takes on the role of poor Georgie, yellow rain slicker and all, who encounters "Kellywise" in a storm drain outside the news studio.
In addition to mixing in some humor with horror, McKinnon does a remarkable job replicating Bill Skarsgård's take on the titular character from Stephen King's It,...

Dirk Diggler has great manners.
Every character in Boogie Nights has small details like this that encapsulate everything about them. Some of these qualities, such as Diggler's obsessive politeness whenever he's pulled away from a conversation, are written on the page. Others appear to be specific choices made by actors, like the way Philip Seymour Hoffman's Scotty J. nervously holds his arm during Jack and Dirk's confrontation.
As the film turns 20, Et is reexamining the breakthrough performances in Boogie Nights and Paul Thomas Anderson's showcase of incredible character actors.

Take a look inside Wes Anderson's next animated project, Isle of Dogs, with the first trailer below!
You have to give it to Wes Anderson, he certainly is original. I don't think I've ever seen another director who can mimic the same formula in live-action as Anderson can in animated films. Isle of Dogs is the perfect examply of this, as Anderson captures the story of the Japanese government banishing/quarantining their dogs to an island of trash in the trademark way only he can create.
This film looks like so much fun. I've always enjoyed Wes Anderson's unique way of storytelling, and Isle of Dogs looks like it'll be another fun film for moviegoers. Furthermore, this has the potential to be one of Anderson's more successful animated films, as it features an all-star cast, along with an intriguing story.

A young boy navigates a treacherous island of trash to find his lost dog in the new trailer for Wes Anderson's, Isle of Dogs. The film boasts a stacked cast (Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson) and finds Anderson returning to the stop-motion animation style of Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Isle of Dogs is set 20 years in the future, in a Japan overrun with dogs and susceptible to an outbreak of dog flu, which causes the mayor to order all K9s be quarantined on a nearby garbage island.

If you love The Fantastic Mr. Fox, then boy do we have a treat for you. The first trailer has arrived for Wes Anderson's second feature-length stop-motion animated adventure Isle of Dogs. The voice cast brings back some of Wes Anderson's favorite actors. And as you can see in the teaser below, courtesy of Fox Seacrhlight, this isn't quite like anything we've ever seen before. Here's the official synopsis.
"Isle of Dogs tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.

"Somebody is up to something..." Fox Searchlight has revealed the first official trailer for Wes Anderson's latest film, a stop-motion adventure titled Isle of Dogs. Set in Japan, the story follows a boy's odyssey in search of his dog. That's about all we know, since this is our first official glimpse at footage from the film (aside from the very brief announcement last year). Isle of Dogs features the voice of Edward Norton as Rex, along with a huge ensemble voice cast: Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Kara Hayward, Fisher Stevens, F. Murray Abraham, Courtney B. Vance, Bob Balaban, and Yoko Ono. I completely adore Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox, and I'm crazy excited to see Anderson make another stop-motion movie about dogs next (since I also love dogs). I have a feeling I'm going to adore this.

Wes Anderson is back, and he’s bringing a whole lot of familiar faces (and newcomers) along with him. Starrring F. Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Mari Natsuki, Yojiro Noda, Kunichi Nomura, Edward Norton, Yoko Ono, Koyu Rankin, Liev Schreiber, Fisher Stevens, Tilda Swinton, Akira Takayama, Courtney B. Vance, and Frank Wood, the first trailer for Isle of Dogs has finally arrived.
The Japan-set tale, which marks his first return to animation since the fantastic Fantastic Mr. Fox, follows “a boy’s odyssey in search of his dog.” Inspired by the films of Akira Kurosawa, according to Anderson himself, the film is set to get a release in March of next year via Fox Searchlight. By the time this debuts, it’ll be the longest break between features for the director, and it’s good to have him back.
