Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to Black Label Media’s Reptile, setting Oscar nominee Justin Timberlake to star opposite Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro, whose casting had already been announced.

The film picks up following the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, following a hardened detective (Del Toro) as he attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems. In doing so, he finds himself dismantling the illusions in his own life.

Prolific music video director Grant Singer is helming the pic in his feature directorial debut. He wrote the script with Benjamin Brewer.

Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill are producing for Black Label Media, with Black Label’s Seth Spector co-producing. Del Toro and Rachel Smith are exec producing.

Timberlake most recently played the title role in the Apple Original Film Palmer.

Third Man Records is operating a little differently these days. The Nashville headquarters of Jack White’s record label, which features a record shop and small venue on-site, has stopped booking shows. One of three directors who first won attention with 2007’s excellent three-part thriller “The Signal” (not to be confused with another enterprising sci-fi-tinged indie of that title from 2014), Dan Bush has made several interesting genre features on his own since then. Like cloning fantasy “The Reconstruction of William Zero” and bank robbery-turned-monster movie “The Vault,” his latest film intrigues with an offbeat premise even if it ultimately doesn’t develop to fully satisfying results.

Once again co-written with cast member Conal Byrne, “The Dark Red” is or even come to full fruition individually. Nonetheless, this quasi-horror mixed bag will hold viewers’ attention for its originality even as it flags in both credibility and suspense. Dark Sky is releasing the movie on five U.S. screens March 6, simultaneous with its digital-format launch. It should do well enough among genre fans — who nonetheless will be kept waiting a bit longer for Bush...

Then, in October, an article in Vulture made it official: Disney was seemingly taking some of its most-beloved Fox titles and pulling them from the repertory market altogether. Now, almost a full year from the date of Disney’s Fox purchase, the company is offering its biggest flex: it is doing away with the Fox designation entirely.

NBC has put in development The Vault, a postapocalyptic, civilization-rebuilding drama with a female lead from Keshet Studios and Universal Television.

In The Vault, written by Jesse Lasky, when a cataclysmic event seemingly wipes out the planet, the survival of humanity rests upon Annie, a geobiologist who has been setting up a state-of-the-art facility in the Arctic known as the Vault. It houses a dozen experts in their respective fields all with specific skill sets that would be essential in rebuilding civilization.

Lasky executive produces with Keshet’s Avi Nir, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan and Alon Shtruzman. Lasky is managed by Echo Lake Entertainment.

It was just two years ago that James Franco was enjoying critical acclaim and a Golden Globe for “The Disaster Artist”; but the actor and filmmaker’s latest film, “Zeroville,” has resulted in him hitting a new box office low.

While Franco has had plenty of mainstream success with films like “Pineapple Express” and the original “Spider-Man” trilogy, much of his recent filmography has turned to starring in and directing arthouse films that are released by niche distributors on a very small number of screens for less than a month. Aside from “The Disaster Artist,” the five other films directed by Franco, including “Zeroville,” have grossed less than $30,000 and have never had a release wider than 100 screens.

"Are you hearing anything or... seeing anything out of the ordinary?" Signature Entertainment in the UK has unveiled the first official trailer for a cult thriller, psychological horror film titled The Dark Red, the latest from genre filmmaker Dan Bush. The film stars April Billingsley as a young woman who is committed to a psychiatric hospital and claims her newborn was stolen by a dark cult, a "secret society to harvest its supernatural blood". But is it true or is she just delusional? The film is described as an "seat-edge twisted shocker" that premiered at the Austin Film Festival late last year, but is still waiting for an official release in the Us. The cast includes Conal Byrne, Bernard Setaro Clark, Jill Jane Clements, John Curran, Rhoda Griffis, and Kelsey Scott. This trailer gets pretty violent and bloody (since there's no MPAA restrictions playing a UK trailer) so watch out.

Not that there’s been a bad week of home entertainment releases this year, but March 26th is looking to be one of our finest days of 2019 so far, with Mary Lambert’s Pet Sematary adaptation leading the pack as it gets the 4K treatment on Tuesday. Vinegar Syndrome is keeping themselves incredibly busy this week, too, as they have four different cult titles on tap for horror fans to add to their Blu-ray collections: The Children, The Suckling, Dominique, and In the Cold of the Night.

The film is a father-daughter collaboration with Benjamin Boorem producing and Mika Boorem starring and directing. Mika Boorem, whose credits include “Blue Crush” as Kate Bosworth’s sister, “Good Day for It,” and “Hearts in Atlantis,” makes her feature directing debut. The cast members have all acted with her in prior projects.

The Vault is a Canadian post-apocalyptic sci-Fi web series about a ragtag group of survivors forced to live in an underground military base known as "The Vault".

The series is directed by Sara Martins.

Air force pilot Nathaniel Hale wakes up to find himself in The Vault. A state of the art military bunker buried deep beneath the earth to protect the last of humanity from an unknown enemy.

The Leftovers alum Regina King is re-teaming with series’ creator Damon Lindelof for Watchmen, his high-profile follow-up drama pilot at HBO. King has been cast along with Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens and Andrew Howard in the pilot. It is not specified if all of the actors will be series regulars, I hear at least one may be recurring.

Written by Lindelof based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic limited comic series, Watchmen is considered a dark satirical and dystopian take on the superhero genre. Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Details of the cast’s roles are being kept under wraps though we have some ideas. King is believed to be playing Angela Abar, while Gossett Jr. likely is Old Man.

Exclusive: In a spring season that has already seen Disney launch ESPN+ and Turner announce Bleacher Report Live, a new sports challenger is entering the subscription video on demand (Svod) ring: Sports Illustrated TV.

The over-the-top (Ott) service linked with the noted magazine will now be available direct to consumers via Roku, iOS, Android and web browsers for $4.99 a month. Si TV launched last November on Amazon Channels and recently was added to fuboTV’s skinny-bundle service.

A twisted, cold-hearted monster features in this newly-released clip for Day of the Dead: Bloodline – and we’re not referring to the undead.

In fact, it’s a reanimated zombie that winds up saving the day, as Sophie Skelton’s heroine comes face-to-face with a sexual harasser (John Schaech) named Max. What follows is an unnerving exchange between Skelton and Schaech’s respective survivors, before the latter makes an unwanted advance.

Whether intentional or not, this Bloodline clip, one which arrives on the eve or release, appears to be ripped straight from the headlines, with the only difference being that a flesh-munching zombie arrives just in time to thwart an attempted rape. Because who said the undead always have to be portrayed as the bad guys?

Story-wise, Day of the Dead: Bloodline takes place in a “post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world where a former med school student is tormented by a dark figure from her past.

I don’t think you need to have seen the 2003 cult film The Room to appreciate The Disaster Artist, director and star James Franco’s hilarious ode to the talentless passion that birthed it. But I was glad that I had finally seen it for the first time just before I attended a screening of Artist. Because I’m not sure that I would have believed Artist’s depiction of the astonishing awfulness of The Room — Franco reproduces essential scenes from the film in all their crummy glory — if I hadn’t already witnessed the horror for myself.

It’s more than likely this is the first time you’ve heard of such an unusual genre blend, between heist and supernatural thriller; and that’s exactly the idea. From the offset, The Vault seems to create its own style in theming. We see all the same cues from heist and crime movies we’re used to, yet things get interesting when our bank robbers go downstairs.

Though not overly impressive in cinematography, clear thought has gone into the film’s theming and style. We can view all the themes from each respective genre, thus their parallels, and finally their merges – the builds in suspense, and the horror of hostages & supernatural drama all combine together to create a unique feel around the movie that comes across impressive. Further, production narrative is clear – the past of each character left ambiguous which only adds to the interest in each character which...

Even if that were a good idea on paper, the result is a useless genre train crash with very little to satisfy fans of the heist thriller or the supernatural character study. Saturday Am Update: With an estimated $2.4 million, The Hitman's Bodyguard topped Friday's box office on its way to a third straight weekend at #1, looking to deliver nearly $9.5 million for the three-day and nearly $12 million for the four-day holiday. Annabelle: Creation falls into second place with $1.8 million on Friday, heading toward a $6.8 million three-day and the Weinstein's Wind River delivered an estimated $1.5 million on Friday and is looking at a three-day around $5.5-6 million. Content Media have announced the UK release of The Vault, an action-packed supernatural heist thriller, filled with tension, frights and mind-bending horror, directed by Dan Bush (The Signal).

In order to save their brother Michael’s life, the Dillon sisters, Leah and Vee have organized a bank robbery, but when the upstairs vault doesn’t have enough money to cover Michael’s debt, on the advice of Assistant Bank Manager Ed Maas, they drill into the downstairs vault. But the bank’s basement hides a terrible secret and before long, the Dillons have to choose whether to face the police outside or the terrible supernatural forces in the vault below.

The trailer for the action-packed supernatural heist thriller, The Vault, has arrived starring James Franco and Clifton Collins.

The trailer follows James Franco, who looks like he is bearing the world’s problems on his shoulders, suited and booted as assistant bank manager Ed Maas as he assists The Dillon sisters as they embark on a heist of the bank in which they get a whole lot more than they bargained for.

Filled with tension building music, meandering along the long dark corridors of the basement of the bank, in which holds the big money lays a spooky and sinister secret, laden with the chilling laughter of children and an equally chilling shadowy figure the desperate ladies of the heist just might not get out of this one alive.

The Vault blends a heist and the supernatural. In the film, two sisters must make some quick cash. But, they have no idea what is hiding in the basement. The Vault stars: James Franco, Taryn Manning, Francesca Eastwood and Scott Haze. FilmRise will distribute the film in the United States, this September. And director Dan Bush (The Signal, 2007) has described The Vault as "an action-packed supernatural heist thriller." The film's official trailer is hosted here. The trailer reveals more than the synopsis. In the clip, Franco plays bank employee Ed. He knows what lays in wait, below the floor. He encourages the robbers to investigate a rusted old vault. But, he does not warn them about what lays behind the solid steel. The tables are quickly turned as the sisters must face a haunting below and the police officers outside. The Vault is set to release in a couple of territories.
