Bleach: Hell Verse

Bleach Movies Ranked by Rating: Are All Bleach Movies Cannon?
Image
The Bleach franchise has a total of four movies, and even for loyal fans, it can be difficult for fans to determine what’s canon and what isn’t. In Bleach’s case, not all movies are canon (we are not referring to the live-action here). The one that comes close would be Bleach: Memories of Nobody, the first film.

Tite Kubo has not worked on the other movies, or has only given character designs, or a hint of a plot, which makes it so that those movies do not actually fit in with the main narrative. Here is the list of all Bleach movies by ranking, from low to high.

10 Bleach Villains Who Seriously Underestimated Ichigo & Paid the Price
Image
This article contains major spoilers for both Bleach's anime series and manga. Proceed with caution.

In both Bleach's canon and in the annals of shonen anime and manga, Ichigo Kurosaki is one of the most powerful characters to ever exist. This isn't just because of his status as a shonen anime protagonist but because he has the powers of all his reality's confirmed supernatural races in him. Despite this, some Bleach villains underestimated Ichigo so much that they thought they could defeat him.

For one reason or another, these Bleach villains fell victim to their hubris when they either goaded Ichigo into a fight or they thought they could use him like a puppet. Whichever the case, Ichigo overpowered them and reminded them who they were dealing with. To add insult to injury, their final deaths and humiliations were often not even given to them by Ichigo.

Bleach Creator Tite Kubo Reveals He Didn’t Let His Editor Interfere In The Manga
Bleach (2004)
In a recent interview with Daisuke Sakuma on his radio talk show, Bleach creator Tite Kubo shared insights into his creative process, revealing that he kept his editor at arm’s length, never allowing him to interfere in the manga.

“I’m the type of writer who doesn’t really have meetings with my editor,” Kubo stated.

Unlike many manga creators who frequently consult with their editors, Kubo preferred to work on his own terms.

“When I was serializing, my editor would come to pick up the manuscript once it was done. I’d tell them, ‘Next week, it’ll go like this,’ and then they’d leave,” he explained.

Sakuma expressed surprise at this approach, noting that it’s common for editors to be heavily involved in shaping a manga’s story.

Editorial interferences are common occurrences in the manga industry, with well documented cases including how Masashi Kishimoto...

“I want that title to be removed”: The Bleach Movie That Made Tite Kubo So Embarrassed He Demanded His Name be Removed from the Film
Image
Tite Kubo has always been involved with the Bleach anime and helms the general supervisor role. He is used to supervising most aspects of the production, including the scripts, storyboards and the work by voice actors.

Yet, the fourth Bleach movie, Hell Verse, lacked any specific directions from him, making it a very independent work by the studio. Tite Kubo loves being a part of the anime and knows what he does not want in any episode that carries his name. Thus the topic of the fourth film is a sensitive one for him.

A Miscommunication Prevented Tite Kubo’s Involvement in Bleach: Hell Verse Movie Bleach: Hell Verse | Studio Pierrot

In the DVD version of the Bleach: Hell Verse movie, a shocking message from Tite Kubo was included, and it stated the author’s regret for not being involved with the film’s production. However, it was...

Is Bleach Soul: Resonance Canon?
Image
Bleach: Soul Resonance is a mobile game allowing players to control Shinigami characters in blade-based combat. The game's canon status within the Bleach franchise is uncertain, but it likely follows the traditional canon or a version of it. The game's plot and narrative elements have been kept under wraps, leaving fans to speculate on its originality or connection to the manga/anime.

As one of the most popular anime and manga franchises from its time period, Bleach had numerous tie-in material and spinoffs. This included movies and video games, with several titles allowing players to take control of their favorite Shinigami from Bleach. Now, an upcoming title is doing that in a way that fans had been waiting for, and this brings up the issue of continuity.

Many side works in anime and manga franchises are treated as automatically being outside canon. This extends to video games, and some fans...

Where Can I Watch Bleach & How Many Seasons Are There?
Image
Bleach is widely recognized as a member of shonen's "big three" from the 2000s, but unlike its two rivals Naruto and One Piece, Bleach suffered a drop in popularity and prominence, and even got its anime canceled in 2012. Author Tite Kubo's original Bleach manga continued until its final chapter in 2016, but by then, Bleach had garnered an iffy reputation while Naruto and One Piece enjoyed greater popularity.

Fortunately, the Bleach fandom is still alive and well, and its most loyal fans were rewarded when the Thousand-Year Blood War anime launched in the Fall 2022 anime season. Bleach's anime is back in a big way, and many newer-gen anime fans must be wondering what all the fuss is about. Anyone who has heard of the rusty relic Bleach but hasn't seen it is in for a pleasant surprise if they tune in and see what Tite Kubo's shonen masterpiece is really all about.
