My goodness. I never thought a ?movie? could be this bad. What a waste of my precious time!
The storyline, well it doesn't exist. It's a long TV sketch. Really bad writing, acting, editing... Just horrible.
I stayed throughout the film because I was with my girlfriend and she had been anxious to watch it. She was also disappointed.
Next time, I'll wait for something better like "Tres al rescate" or The butcher's son (La soga).
Dominican directors should see good movies first and learn from them. We're not going anywhere if we continue delivering such a bad example of filming

Well guys the new Lotoman 2.0 is very very good!
If you are looking for a having a great time enjoying comedy and getting great positive family messages at the same time this is my recommendation.
We just came from the premiere and enjoyed a lot. And as I saw everybody was very happy at the end of the movie.
These guys really worked hard with the camera, there's a lot of stunning scenes, good music, sound effects, the edition is great... So if you want to see the best movie made in Dominican Republic this work directed by Archie Lopez is right one.

Lotoman is an example of films made for the race and without any cinematic approach. The story tells how two brothers move from very poor to millionaires to win the lottery and living situations in their new status of wealthy.
Of the positive things the film worth mentioning is the performance of Alfonso Rodriguez gets into the character and makes it credible, on the other hand, the bottom line is acceptable, the bad thing is the way we have it all.
The script is not clear, let other crazy situations with less sense and stay in the air. Raymond Pozo Miguel Cespedes show that there aren't movie stars, TV is your thing, the short comedy sketch and ready.
Dominican Republic is a country that enjoys his comedians, supports his films, I think it is time for the national film producers support the Dominicans with a good movie as we deserve.

When you see it, you really have to wonder yourself: why did this become a movie? It's just a bunch of jokes (some very old) and strips with no logical relation, nor to each other neither to the story-line.
It's true, you get to laugh and it carries a message. But it's not worthy to be on a movie theater because of that. Honestly, I think this was better of a screenplay for a TV-series.
Dominican directors/producers persist in doing this "comedy movies" because they say "is the easiest way to develop the movie-industry in Dominican Republic" and "is easier to connect whit the audience". But they need get into account that, this same audience DOES see the other kind of movies.
So it's not a new field of exploration. You can try hard on doing a good-quality/writing, real-actors movie, and PEOPLE WILL SEE IT.
For instance we have very good examples, I think "The King of Najayo" is a marvelous big step-forward in the Dominican movie industry. It has a well define story line, the acting was almost flawless, and do not fall into mixing it with those every-day jokes.

It's amazing how movies have become so empty and lack character and a positive message for the younger viewers,
this wasn't the case with Lotoman. It honestly showcases a series of beliefs that people have regarding money and what that will do to their lives and help it make it better. This movie is a true example of how family and love comes over all.
I truly recommend it as a film to watch with family. If you are Dominican like myself you will also find a lot of insights which will transport you to the island. I have 25 years since i left the island and it was like going back. I have a lot of high hopes for Dominican films and looking forward to watching "Lotoman 2.0" in the next days.
