Resident Evil fans have been dealing with no-shows in regards to Resident Evil 9 with the big gaming events this year, despite the plethora of rumours circulating around. The latest crop comes courtesy of Andy at Biohazard Declassified (with JJ from Residence of Evil doing the reporting in the video below), who says that the latest batch of leaks was relayed by a playtester who claims to have played an early build of the game sometime in April and September in Japan.
Obviously, with stuff like this, it pays to keep your grain of salt handy. None of this has been officially confirmed (obviously) by Capcom or anyone on the Resident Evil 9 team. Plus, these rumours do venture into spoiler territory. So, here we go.

The Resident Evil franchise has expanded to include nearly 30 games, live-action films, TV series, novels, and animated movies, with the main conflict revolving around the Umbrella Corporation and the fictional Raccoon City infected with zombie viruses. The animated films based on Resident Evil have a varying degree of integration with the games' basic plot and cast, with the later films being more aligned and typically taking place in between the games. However, the release order of the animated films does not align with the timeline and shouldn't necessarily be watched in order of release date. For example, the first animated film to watch is Biohazard 4D-Executer, which takes place in 1998 during the Raccoon City outbreak. and the third film to watch is Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first feature-length animated movie set in the Resident Evil world and featuring the characters and storylines of the games.

The Resident Evil franchise includes three animated movies and a miniseries, but not all of these installments are created equal. Even though the Resident Evil series includes some of the most successful horror video games ever, screen adaptations of the franchise have been a mixed bag. Director Paul Ws Anderson’s 2002 movie Resident Evil didn’t impress critics upon release, but the movie did scare up some serious returns at the box office. However, while that first Resident Evil managed to spawn a string of sequels, the live-action movies in the series were frequently criticized for their lack of fidelity to the source material.
While Anderson didn’t direct Resident Evil 2 or 3, he did remain a major creative force throughout the series. As such, the Resident Evil movie adaptations gradually gained a reputation as fun guilty pleasure action-horror movies that bore little relation to their supposed inspiration. Thus,...

Mercer is open to running a Resident Evil one-shot on Critical Role and is interested in exploring a small, unique place reminiscent of the original game's cramped mansion and subterranean laboratory. A Resident Evil one-shot would allow Mercer to delve into a different horror subgenre and explore character dynamics and close-quarters battles that TTRPGs excel at. While a one-shot is hypothetical, Mercer's deep knowledge of the franchise as both a player and voice actor, along with Critical Role's track record of bringing new and exciting stories to beloved worlds, would make Resident Evil a perfect addition to their impressive lineup.
Resident Evil: Death Island star Matt Mercer reveals what part of the world he would want to explore if given the opportunity to run a Resident Evil one-shot on Critical Role. Mercer is no stranger to Resident Evil. First a fan of the videogames, he joined the franchise as Leon S.

The latest entry in the animated franchise, Resident Evil: Death Island comes two years after the last entry, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and is set in 2015, just after the events of Resident Evil: Vendetta but before Resident Evil 7. Got that?
Somewhere in San Fransisco Dso Agent Leon S. Kennedy is trying to recover kidnapped scientist Dr. Antonio Taylor (Frank Todaro) when a mysterious woman appears and, after a high-speed chase, causes him to crash. Claire Redfield is also in town, trying to find out what kind of creature can use Orcas as a food source. And whether or not the creature is a bioweapon.
Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers are also looking for answers.

Audiences have a new Resident Evil movie to look forward to with Resident Evil: Death Island, an animated feature releasing in the summer of 2023. The computer-animated horror film includes characters from the same universe as the popular Resident Evil video games, and it is the fourth film and fifth project to be released as part of the animated Resident Evil movie franchise. Resident Evil: Death Island gets its name from the movie's setting, the prison on Alcatraz Island. In the film, Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are on two separate missions that lead all the main characters to the island for a new horror-filled adventure.
Resident Evil: Death Island is directed by Eiichirō Hasumi and the screenplay was written by Makoto Fukami. Both Hasumi and Fukami have been involved with past Resident Evil projects. Hasumi directed Netflix's Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness animated series, which was released in 2021. Fukami...

Resident Evil 4 sees the return of the mysterious Ada Wong in both the original and remake versions as her mission has her come across Leon S. Kennedy again. Ada doesn't get as much screen time as characters like Leon, Luis, and Ashley, but the Dlc Separate Ways from the original RE4 gives a bit of insight into why she shows up in an area infected by Las Plagas. Ada's motivations tend to be unclear, but after the events of RE4, the question of whose side she's on begins to receive a clearer answer.
Ada Wong is kept in a mysterious role in Resident Evil 2 and RE4, leaving players uncertain if she's there to help them or make their tasks more difficult each time she appears. While it's difficult to know what a character like Ashley's future is after Resident Evil 4, quite a bit is known about Ada's...

The Resident Evil movies have never been critical darlings, and the outing that managed a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is one of the most obscure. Talk of a Resident Evil movie emerged shortly after the record-breaking success of the first two games, but the resulting live-action adaptations deviated massively from the source material. While they brought over key characters, monsters and settings from Capcom's series, they all focused on the journey of Alice (Milla Jovovich), an original character created for the films. Jovovich's movies were hugely successful overseas, but they were all greeted with mixed to bad reviews.
While Rotten Tomatoes should never be considered the final word on a film's reception, the live-action Resident Evil movies have never nabbed a "Fresh" rating. The highest rated was 2017's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which closed out the Jovovich run and earned a 37% rating. While the second entry Apocalypse was the...

During the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed that a new Resident Evil animated series is coming to Netflix in 2021.
Described as a CG anime horror series, the upcoming Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will follow Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they embark on a journey that will “reveal a Resident Evil world unlike anything seen before.” Sadly, Capcom isn’t revealing many of the finer points of the show’s plot at this time.
What we do know is that Infinite Darkness is being produced and supervised by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi who has been involved with the Resident Evil series in some capacity since its inception. He’s also served as the producer of such animated adaptations as Resident Evil: Degeneration, Resident Evil: Damnation, and Resident Evil: Vendetta if you’re looking for a better idea of his style and the quality of the works he typically oversees.

Check out the first trailer for the all CG Resident Evil Vendetta film by Capcom.
Capcom released the trailer, er teaser, above today to show off the new CG film Resident Evil: Vendetta. The movie will release "next spring" in Japan, with no word on international dates of release.
Characters Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers are the main characters of the film as they explore a story set after the events of Resident Evil 6, but before the upcoming Resident Evil 7. This movie works as a bridge between the two games.
Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil: Damnation were previous all CG films released under the series, and they bother were rather good. I'd highly suggest checking them out if you are a fan of the series.

Machinima and Hasbro have released an exciting new trailer their great-looking new animated web series Transformers: Combiner Wars. This sucker was made for the hardcore fans of the original series of the '80s, and it looks like it's going to deliver something that fans are going to love.
We've already seen four prelude episodes for the series that you can check out here featuring the characters Optimus Prime, Victorion, Starscream, and Windblade. Those were cool and all, but this trailer for the actual series is so much more exciting!
Taking place 40 years after the great war on Earth, the eight episode digital series introduces new lore and all-new characters that, combined with the characters fans have known for decades, will bring the Transformers storytelling in a new direction. The Autobots and Decepticons have disbanded and returned to Cybertron. With the days of Optimus Prime and Megatron over, Cybertron is now ruled by a triumvirate.

Chris Pratt, Andy on the brilliant NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation, has landed the role of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Quill was born of a human mother and alien father, and is a master strategist and combat expert who wears an ability-enhancing suit and pilots a psychically-linked ship. While many actors were rumored for the role, in the end, it appears, it went to an actor that appeared on no one’s list. Pratt has comedic talents, which shine on Parks&Rec, but he can be dramatic as well, with his appearances in the Oscar nominated films Zero Dark Thirty and Moneyball prove. However, the casting of Pratt –on the heels of rumors that Marvel was looking to comedic actors as Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler- does seem to indicate that director James Gunn plans on adding more humor to the film.

The Resident Evil brand makes money, as well as nightmare inducing creatures. The franchise has become a multimedia juggernaut with six major games in the series, five films, a few comics and now a second direct to DVD CGI film in the form of “Resident Evil: Damnation.” Whereas the live action films tell an alternate story of sorts where the Umbrella Corporation basically lost control and the T-Virus that caused the fabled Raccoon City Outbreak ended up spreading across the world, the CGI films follow the game canon. “Damnation” is a direct sequel to “Resident Evil: Degeneration” which saw Re icons Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield teamed up again. That story took place directly after RE4 and actually set up for RE5. “Damnation” picks up a few years later and takes place after RE5 but before RE6. Whew!! Okay now on to the film. “Degeneration” felt more like part of...

Voice actress Courtenay Talor talks about playing Ada Wong in Resident Evil: Damnation, currently available on Blu-ray and DVD
Courtenay Taylor has made a name for herself both in voice over work for animated projects and video games, and stepping in front of the camera for live action roles. The actress reprises her role as Ada Wong from video games Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and the upcoming Resident Evil 6 in the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment animated sequel Resident Evil: Damnation, currently available on Blu-ray and DVD. I recently had the chance to speak with the actress over the phone about taking on this beloved role. Here's what she had to say.
You have a bit of history with Ada and the new games. Is there anything different you wanted to bring to Ada this time around, in this animated film?
Courtenay Taylor: It was funny because it all sort of happened simultaneously.

Actor Matthew Mercer talks about voicing the iconic Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil: Damnation, available on Blu-ray and DVD right now
If most people heard or read the name Leon Kennedy, it probably wouldn't trigger any type of response. However, if you mention the name near a die-hard fan of the Resident Evil video game franchise, that would likely not be the case. I recently had the chance to speak with Matthew Mercer, who voices Leon Kennedy not only in this new movie, but also in the upcoming Resident Evil 6 video game that arrives October 2. Last week, Joss Whedon returned to our screens with the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Cabin in the Woods, with which Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) made his directorial debut to brilliant critical acclaim, with a script he co-wrote with Whedon.
This week, Whedon returns once more to our home entertainment systems with the release of The Avengers, the year’s biggest film to date, and the third-highest-grossing film of all time. It’s been one we’ve been looking forward to ever since its release, and now it has arrived for us to bask in its awesomeness once more.
My picks of the week:
Joss Whedon’s The Avengers & Jay Oliva’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns – Part 1.
And Bond 50 – the complete 22-film James Bond collection on Blu-ray.

The Avengers I have had a chance to watch The Avengers on Blu-ray and have listened to exactly 6:02 minutes of Joss Whedon's commentary so far with plans on finishing tonight and delivering an article for you tomorrow or the following day. The speed in which I finish depends on Joss, however, as he already tends to be very loquacious. Otherwise, the film looks and sounds great and I did get a chance to watch the "Agent 47" short film (or Marvel One-Shot as they refer to it) with Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford, which wasn't too bad, but it was a short film, which means there wasn't much to expect. Overall, fans of the film should definitely pick this one up, though I will admit, after seeing it three times now, you start to feel its bloat more and more with each viewing. Luckily, it's a film that tends...

Last week saw the release of The Avengers here in the UK, the year’s biggest film to date, and the third-highest-grossing film of all time. Naturally, it was a pretty good week – somewhat marred, however, by the fact that the UK edition has a violent scene edited and Joss Whedon’s commentary track omitted.
Needless to say, I’ll be importing my copy from the Us sometime in the future, after its release there tomorrow. (It also means I’ll have the proper title – ‘The Avengers’ – on the cover, and not just ‘Avengers Assemble’, a name which I refuse to use, because ‘The Avengers’ is just way cooler.)
This week is just as big a week all round, with Whedon returning to the home entertainment market in the form of The Cabin in the Woods, along with the equally-praised Indonesian action film, The Raid, and many more excellent films.

Today sees the release of Resident Evil: Damnation, the new CGI movie in the series directed by Makoto Kamiya and the seventh feature film to spawn from Capcom’s sixteen year old game. In the beginning the rough edges, woeful (and wonderful) voice acting and script gave the terrifying game a B-movie sheen and Resident Evil had its hooks in us. As much derived from Robert Wise’s The Haunting as the slew of Zombie films Capcom delivered a genre-defining game and introduced a whole new generation to the terror of the flesh-eating living dead. We’ve been asked to look back over the series and explore how the confluence of movie and video games gave us the deadfleshfest we enjoy today.
In the early days it was simple. Buy the license to a big summer movie, take an existing game genre (platform, racer, beat em-ups: the usual suspects) and...

The Raid (DVD/Blu-ray)
Deep in the heart of one of Jakarta’s most deprived slums stands an impenetrable high-rise apartment block. To most it is 30 floors of Hell to be avoided at all costs but for many of the city’s most dangerous killers and gangsters, including the area’s most notorious crime lord, it is a fortress-like safe house protecting them from the law. Even for the bravest and most experienced police officers it is considered a no-go area.
