Wow this movie is absolutely brilliant. A masterpiece and a definitive must watch. The acting was sooo good and authentic. The story was very very good. A must watch for every psychological thriller fans! I enjoyed every second of the movie. I think this film will be one of the most underrated of all time. You can compare its greatness to movies like Gone Girl or The Invisible Guest, though it didn't gain that much popularity. I love it and will recommend it to all my friends and loved ones. Such good movies are really rare in this time, what a pity. I can't remember to see anything great like this in the last 5 years.
My instant pick to watch tagged as an underdog turned out to be a monster,A brilliant piece of cinema in every aspect...
Be it a hour glass session, luxurious office space or an finest atmospheric conditions in climax one could crave for a perfect cinema elements....
Take a bow for Anders klarlund for keeping u strangled for nearly 1 1/2 hrs tight session with his twisty screenplay that makes u subliminally guilt and shrink u with a crystal clear screenplay...
Signe Olsen and Anton duo strikes instantly with their weird and methodical performance...can't review for more coz this movie speaks a lot to connect u when u watch it making u to crave for more cinema to experience....
The Last Client: Danish Nordic Noir. Susanne ( Signe Egholm Olsen) is a psychotherapist, her last client of the day Mark ( Anton Hjejle) seems, a little bit odd, paying the receptionist in advance in cash, notes and change. He is soon in control of the therapy session and shows just how murderous he is. She has to endure his game playing , knowing that her family may be at risk. We've already seen Mark at work, arriving at a victim's home dressed as a surgeon. Overpowering the woman he operates on her without anesthesia, removing a fetus which he places in a jar. (Not a spoiler, it's the opening sequence of the film.) This is not the only horrific scene in a film which is replete with disturbing sequences. The sound is very important, being followed on a cobbled street, a torn poster fluttering, someone thinking they heard a scream but dismissing it. There are some important plot twists which cannot be revealed here, perhaps one twist too many. The film is well worth watching though with great performances from Olsen and Hjejle, the tension is maintained throughout the 95 minute running time as the focus shifts from a clinic to woods. Directed & Co-Written by Anders Rønnow Klarlund. 8/10.
But still so many good drama movies have been made in the past. This is just a run-of-the-mill drama movie with psychological elements. The movie has an important message and the way the message is delivered is absolutely riveting.
I have seen plenty of drama movies in my life. I have seen psychological thriller movies like The Silence Of The Lambs, Copycat 1995, Bone Daddy 1998, The Bone Collector 1999, Seven 1995 among many others.
So does this movie deliver anything new compared to the ones I've mentioned. Yes and no. It questions morality and responsibility two important facets of society as a whole. Those expecting just a dark thriller or a straight-up serial killer movie will be disappointed. The movie isn't even based on a real-life serial killer like Bundy, Dahmer or Gacy.
Plot: The intense relationship between a psychotherapist(Sussane Hartmann played by actress Signe Egholm Olsen) and her dangerous new client(Mark Zidenius played by the actor Anton Hjejle). Soon Sussane will be drawn into Mark's deadly psychological game that he has pre-planned. Watch the movie to find out what happens in the end...
So this is more akin to a social drama will solid psychological elements woven into it. Does the film deserve an award, like so many people are clamoring for it? Let time tell...

Great plot twists. Very intelligent. Everything plausible. Things very hard to find in a movie these days. I'm not a psychologist but I felt like the way the therapy session developed had a very authentic feel but at the same time was exciting and interesting. It's a stark contrast with the average movie today that appears to target a 14 yr old audience.
People say that it's very gruesome and it does have some parts but much less than other movies, and it's only a few short scenes.
I don't usually like thrillers but it's because most are garbage and have huge flaws. Thrillers like this I could watch on a regular basis. The ending in particular was very good but there wasn't really a dull moment.
