a familiar coming of age story

Any moroccans that live in europe and always traveled back during summer, you'll definitely love this movie.

I love how the story builds up tension and shows the depth of their friendship along with the unfixed parts. My favorite scene in the movie is on the boat when they cross the ocean. Theres an old maintenance man who tells a story with some beautiful deep meaning many migrants can relate to.

It's the closest I've felt to tracking down europe myself. The 3 main actors have great chemistry and their acting still holds up. All 3 of them still work on movies to this day. Marwan kenzari just played in Aladdin.

Road movie with more depth than you think.

Shot in 5 weeks apparently and with a great cast (Stéphane Caillard's native tongue is French, maybe people should stop measuring any French accent against Pepe Le Pew).

The three friends and a road trip make for some great comedy. The little dramas and background stories unfolding through out add some touching moments. It deals with the root of common household issues (finding a future, relationship etc) spot on without losing the comedy element of it.

But most of all Dchar, Akkabi and Kenzari gel so well on the screen you'd think they actually have been friends for life. This movie should get way more love than it currently does.

A road trip through cultural difference

A Moroccan guy is instructed by his father to drive an old Mercedes taxi from The Netherlands to Rabat (a city in Morocco). When his friends learn of this they invite themselves to join on the trip and the three of them drive into the distance.

And so the film starts, after a short introduction into the three characters. This film is a typical road movie, with the three of them learning more about themselves and each other as they go and are influenced by the countries they drive through. The film is littered with conversations and run-ins with more or less random people and the interaction is great. Some of the people look a bit more flat than they should be - mostly because they bring their roles as if reading a story from paper instead of entire life like but the effect isn't strong enough to really annoy.

As expected there is a touch on the cultural differences between Western Europeans and (Northern) Africans - made worse by the fact that the three main characters in this film were either born in The Netherlands or living there for the longest of time and are therefore a lot more Western minded than their own people. The touch is there but it never goes further than relatively light and doesn't enforce something to think about, but it's good enough.

All in all, a very pleasant watch.

great original movie , fun to watch

i had a great time see this one here. i could imagine myself doing the same thing on a trip. the story and plot is great and had a good end . the only thing i could criticize is that the french girl spoke English with a very strong dutch accent.

i mean when you meet a french person that speaks English , we all know how that sounds , very funny English with a strong french accent and not with an obvious dutch accent. but besides of that i enjoyed the movie a lot.

not the best movie of the year , but for sure a lot of fun to watch and no boring moments . it gives you a look in the real life of such a road trip what you can expect and what people you could meet. good and bad .

    well done !
