Bo Burnham is a multitalented creative who has been conspicuously absent from the big and small screen since 2021. After appearing in Promising Young Woman in 2020 and performing the tour-de-force stand-up routine Bo Burnham: Inside during the pandemic in 2021, Burnham has largely disappeared from the public to work on new projects behind the scenes. One such project is The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, which debuted on HBO in March 2024.
While Carmichael takes center stage on the intimately revealing reality TV show, Burnham appears secretly on the show as a masked friend and confidant named Anonymous. Carmichael speaks to Anonymous as a therapeutic sounding board and seeks his relationship advice, further establishing the profound friendship between Burnham and Carmichael. For fans of both comedians, The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show provides must-see entertainment that explores family, friendship, and the longing for lasting connections.

We could not be more overjoyed with the news that Netflix has announced that they have officially renewed the break-out true crime satire series “American Vandal” for season two. The investigation will continue with eight all-new episodes in 2018, exclusively on Netflix.
“American Vandal” co-creators/executive producers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, as well as showrunner/executive producer Dan Lagana, are slated to return.
The first season was brilliantly done, so we absolutely can’t wait to see what this creative bunch will have in-store for season two!

Among the many things that Netflix has staked their reputation on, it’s been true crime documentaries and series. “Making A Murderer” is the most popular of those efforts, this summer’s “The Keepers” follows closely behind, and the streaming service has been the home of “Team Foxcatcher,” “Amanda Knox,” and so much more. Now, Netflix is poking fun at the whole genre, and maybe themselves, with the satire “American Vandal.”
Co-creators Tony Yacenda (“Pillow Talking“) and Dan Perrault (“Honest Trailers“), and showrunner Dan Lagana (“Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous“), have put together the eight-episode mockumentary, that aims to expose the truth behind a particularly heinous act of high school vandalism.

Netflix’s newly announced satire “American Vandal” will send up the true crime genre, poking fun at the streaming platform’s hit docu-series “Making a Murderer” and “The Keepers.” The eight-episode scripted half-hour parody takes the self-serious tone of TV’s recent true crime wave and applies it to the absurd subject matter of a high school prank that leaves 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. The series, which will premiere on the streaming platform Sept. 15, hails from co-creators Tony Yacenda (“Pillow Talking”) and Dan Perrault (“Honest Trailers”), and showrunner Dan Lagana (“Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous”). "Teen Wolf" has made a very secretive bit of casting: Shelley Hennig ("The Secret Circle") has been signed to play an unknown role when the show returns with new Season 3 episodes this winter.
Although E!Online was able to report the news of Hennig's casting, nothing else is known about the role. There is a good chance that Hennig's arrival has something to do with a new piece of mythology on the show -- such changes have been teased since the San Diego Comic-Con in July. The casting of another guest star, Arden Cho, is directly tied to a "kitsune" myth. While Cho's role of Kira may not be a kitsune herself, the character has something to do with the Japanese, shape-shifting creature.

Confirming anew that you should never choose a title for your TV show that can be used against you ironically, MTV has canceled Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous after one season, effectively declaring that, no, no he is not. The freshman series starred comedian Bo Burnham as a teen who graduates high school and eschews college for a stab at reality TV stardom, hiring a camera crew to follow him around in his quest to become an overnight celebrity, despite a complete lack of merit. “After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward ...

It is one season and out for Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, MTV‘s half-hour series starring rising young comedian Bo Burnham, who tweeted about the show’s demise yesterday. “We are huge fans of Bo Burnham and the entire creative and talented team behind Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous,” MTV said in a statement. “After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward with an additional season of the series. We wish Bo, the cast and the entire production crew the very best.” Zach Stone, developed and greenlighted by the previous MTV regime, launched with little fanfare and modest ratings on May 2 in the 10:30 Pm slot and was later shifted to 11 Pm, dwindling to 300,000 viewers. It is quietly ending its run this week with its final three originals, two airing on Saturday. MTV has struggled to launch lasting scripted series beyond Teen Wolf and Awkward,...

Bo Burnham is gonna be famous. More famous, that is. The 22-year-old Internet phenom, who achieved success in the comedy world after videos of his off-color songs went viral on YouTube, stars in MTV’s latest scripted comedy -- Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous -- on which he also serves as co-creator, executive producer and writer. The series, debuting at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, finds Burnham as a teenage “pre-celebrity” who blows his entire life savings on hiring a film crew to document his life for an eponymous reality show. Bo Burnham first made his name on YouTube at the tender age of 16, but in only a few years, he moved on from “Internet sensation” to become one of the most inventive and imaginative comedians working today. Now 22, he’s back with his own MTV show, Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, which follows an 18-year-old who hires a film crew to make a reality show about his life. The show, which premieres Thursday at 10:30, documents Stone’s various attempts at fame — including, of course, a sex tape. Vulture spoke to Burnham about reality shows, getting confused for his character, and what the Internet thinks of Zach Stone.I feel like I’ve been hearing about this show for so long. It’s been in the works for a while, right?Yeah, I think we filmed the pilot, like, two years ago? And then the series itself was filmed last year,...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, Don Jon will hit theaters October 18th. The film is a comedy about a man who connects better with computer porn than real women. Morgan, it's time to put in that vacation request.
Meanwhile, Ryan Murphy's sexy drama Open is headed to HBO. The show is supposed to be a frank depiction of human sexuality and modern relationships, but there's no sign of a gay element from the descriptions so far. As with all Ryan Murphy projects, I'm expecting a stunning first season, after which we'll all lose interest except to complain about the show.
Uruguay has taken their final vote on marriage equality and approved it 92-71. The president is expected to sign the bill, and marriages will begin in a few months.
Meanwhile, back in the U.S., Montana has finally repealed their sodomy law. Baby steps.

MTV, as always, continues to head down whatever TV tangents seem even remotely plausible: to give them credit, Jersey Shore and Teen Wolf had the same exact bits of potential that WakeBrothers and I Just Want My Pants Back did, and teenagers just happen to be fickle little things. So it's no surprise the network's latest attempt at reading the pulse of young tween girls is some weird scripted-reality hybrid: Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous stars internet singing/rapping phenom Bo Burnham in his first television series as a dweeby kid determined to be a reality star. Get ready for all the bizarre hijinks in the trailer below:
There are shades of genuine small-town feelings in the trailer that make me curious as to how this will turn out, but the jokes skew a little… silly. What do you think of Bo Burnham in the Zach Stone trailer? Let...

Bo Burnham was a YouTube star before he graduated high school. Now, seven years and a lot of stand-up success later, Burnham is making a show for MTV about a high-school student who'd really like to be a star but is unfortunately talentless. Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous is about a recent high-school graduate using his life savings to start making a reality show about himself, in a desperate attempt to be famous. It's a pretty straightforward satire of basically every other show on MTV. The show premieres on May 2 — by the end of it, we imagine either Bo Burnham or Zach Stone is going to end up famous.

How can I increase my number of Twitter followers? Am I making too much of a duck face in this profile pic? I could totally be a reality star, right? These are the questions of our times, and the last of them is at the heart of MTV’s Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. The half-hour scripted comedy stars comedian Bo Burnham as Zach Stone, a self-absorbed dude with no discernible talents who has just graduated from high school. Instead of expanding his mind in college, he decides to expand his ego by trying to become a reality star...

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - MTV has ordered six original new series. Two scripted shows were greenlit, according to The Hollywood Reporter -- Underemployed, a comedic take on post-college life in today's tough economy that will star Jared Kusnitz, Justin Levy, Clay Spencer and Julie Schwachenwald, and the sitcom Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, featuring comedian Bo Burnham. Four unscripted shows will be moving forward as well. Hoods will follow stars back to their far-from-Hollywood hometowns, starting with Ke$ha returning to Nashville in the first episode. In addition, the indie film Catfish will be adapted for TV, Wake Brothers will follow pro wakeboarder Philip Soven and his brother Rob, and Wait Till Next Year keeps up with a football team that's trying to turn around its five-year losing streak. MTV is beefing up its original slate with six new series: Craig Wright’s ensemble comedy Underemployed, comedy Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous co-created by and starring hot young comedian Bo Burnham, and four reality and docu-series: Catfish, based on the feature documentary; Hoods, about celebrities going back to their hometowns; Wake Brothers, about two pro wakeboarding brothers; and Wait Till Next Year, about a real-life Bad News Bears high school team. On the scripted side, MTV went 2-for-2, picking up both of its pilots to series.
