Interesting idea, but bad execution

I'm a big fan of Alexis since Gilmore Girls. I watch all her movies.

This something less entertaining. The story begins well. The characters are there, the setting. One, a small town cop, played Alexis, and one french visitor/tourist, played by Laurent. But the writer didn't know what to do with them.

How they come together, why all the things happen, it feels forced, it feels way to convenient to be believable. Its OK to have one bad judgment as a character. Maybe two. Even three. But a chain of bad judgments, not out of emotion or situation, but just why there is no other way to advance the story? People should react as people, not as cutout characters following a script. How everything goes down and the final "words", its way to contrived. In no way this would happen like that. Especially foreigners wouldn't go down this route by any measurement.

The characters are played OK. I have wished Alexis would do something else than this. Just for her I give an extra point for trying. If you are a true fan and need to watch all her works, wait for this when it comes in the early morning repeat on public TV.

A movie that fans of the Lifetime Channel will like. OK acting, pretty slow and predictable end. I say B-

"We're gonna drive some more, we're gonna find a hotel and I'm gonna do some thinking. There's a way out of this situation that doesn't involve me losing my job and you losing your wife." New to the force officer Kate Logan (Bledel) stops someone she thinks matches the description of a killer. After realizing her mistake she offers to buy him a drink. The two soon begin an affair that leads to secrets and problems that make them regret meeting each other. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this movie. It didn't really seem like a movie I would like, mostly because it seemed like it would be a "Lifetime" movie. It took about a half hour for anything of substance to happen and about an hour in for me to get interested. The "twist" at the end was OK but very predictable. My main problem with the movie is that the event that causes the spiral of events is so minor that it makes the movie a little unbelievable. Overall, if you like the "Lifetime" channel movies you will like this one. I do and did not. I give it a B-.

plain, boring and confused.

A supposed noire thriller that ends up coming across as a fruity and bizarre dark comedy for most of the film's running time. An event eventually occurs which then plunges the film into a dreary vortex of soulless performances, weak and uninspired dialogue, and all round sheer mediocrity. Everything that made the film bearable up to that point - the awkward yet authentic dialogue, the quirky characters and comedic cockups - suddenly dissipates into thin air leaving behind a slightly more focused film but also an ultimately depressing, boring and uneventful one. The ending's just as confused as the rest of the film. Instead of being some kind of ironic wink and nod , it feels more like a desperate attempt at trying to salvage something from the unfocused mess that's occurred over the past 80 minutes.

When the fatality comes suddenly...the destiny is already sealed!!!!

A minor Canadian production that brings an unusual plot, certainly it wasn't so unrealistic, as many suppose, a mature French businessman Beinot Gando work with insurances came to Canada to attend a meeting, he was mistaken with a rapist at large and a female Cop Kate Logan try arrest him, under a unfriendly approach, through his passport he proves to be who he really is, after this point the ashamed Cop invites him to a drink, as sincere apology, aftermaths both were involved by sex, then the fatality comes, a Cop's gun was shot by accident at motel room, she is afraid to be fired under this fact, they decide running, Logan takes over of all decisions, cold and scheming she try find a best thing to do, the time is running, what seems a simple misunderstood becomes strongly matters to solve, the audience hope for a fair ending, the worst still didn't come...but it is near.... Palatable and unpredictable!!!

A Rory Gilmore Fantasy

The whole film feels like a Rory Gilmore dream in which Alexis Bledel tries to take acting seriously, but still fails because the script is just bad...

I really liked it!

I don't understand why this is rated badly, probably because most of you cannot get the image of 'rory gilmore' out of your heads. Really interesting especially for Psychology and Criminology students. Alexis Bledel plays a fantastic role and it is defo worth the watch! Especially as it is based on a true story.

Interesting glance into the mind

Each to their own. There will be people who loved it and people who hated it, for whatever reason. I myself, am a GG fan, but it was interesting to see Alexis Bedel play such a contrast character to Rory Gilmore. A breath of fresh air. See her acting skills rise.

Whether her character, kate, was unstable beforehand or whether fear and consequence made her make certain decisions, made me wonder just how far the mind can be pushed - mentally or by choice of action or environment.

Sometimes you just have to skip the reviews and make your own decision, because everyone has different tastes, and perceptions.

A 7 for me!

Well the production team must have been thrilled

How often do we see this story, this chain of events? A young, attractive actress attains a marketable level of success, usually as a teen. She does so in a fairly clean and wholesome series or film. Then that initial successful venture passes, she becomes "of age" and the industry convinces her to maintain - or expand - her degree of success, she needs to branch out. You know, take on more edgy, challenging roles, in order to shed that early, "good girl" image. Because otherwise she'll be left in the dustbin of former stars who are soon forgotten.

Translation: Do nudity Drop "f" bombs Toss in the mandatory profaning of God's name

Check, check, and check.

And what's edgier than a young, rookie cop with possible psychotic tendencies? {Well, in the 2020's, probably a lot of things, but I digress}.

This film is what we get so much of today - mediocre scripts that are only passable because of the need for content, with so many cable channels and streaming services out there.

Alexis Bledel is a talented actress, but she's unlikely to ever be A-list. All the powers that be surely told her so after Gilmore Girls, so she's probably taken what roles she could get. Actresses who are *not* A-list are pressured to take these types of roles, and it seems to be a thrill ride for those pulling the strings to control these women's lives this way.

Get them naked before the camera {whether the audience gets to see it or not}, check the boxes, another one conformed, then toss them aside.

Alexis was 27 or 28 when this was filmed, and of course could pass for younger. Its hard to believe "Rory Gilmore" has just turned 43. Time marches on. This film, to me, was not a great career move for her. I hope she's doing well today.

As for the film itself, its not memorable in any way, and you'll likely wish you had the 95 or so minutes back to do something more worthwhile.

Alexis and the male lead did what they could with this. For the story, I'd give it a 4. For the unnecessary factors mentioned above that really do nothing for the film, it gets 1 star.
