The Bye Bye Man Review
Don’t think it. Easy enough, no one seems to have thought about much here. Don’t say it. Don’t worry, I won’t be recommending this one. Don’t watch it! That’s just my warning to you. Welcome to the desolate cinematic wasteland of January, my weathered friends.

The Bye Bye Man is an unfathomably inept horror film; one that’s an obvious byproduct of The Babadook/It Follows brand of horror success. It is, without apology, one of the emptiest, nonsensical haunted thrillers ever to fail genre audiences. “So bad it’s good” would be a tremendous improvement in quality, as you’ll end up laughing for spells simply out of maddening boredom. Nothing is funny, just disjoined, utterly senseless and cataclysmically misguided – we’re talking every single aspect. I mean, you can’t fault a team for attempting something new and iconic in horror. You...

10 TV characters who knew how to make an entrance
From Battlestar Galactica to Farscape, Doctor Who and more, Juliette cheers on 10 TV characters who made a big first impression...

Some characters slip onto our TV screens quietly and sneak into our hearts slowly. We watch them develop and grow, and come to love them over time, sometimes despite very inauspicious beginnings (being eaten by a wheelie bin springs to mind).

Others make more of an impression from the get-go.

In this list, we’re celebrating some of the most memorable and impressive entrances of characters from TV shows. To make the list, a character had to be (or eventually become) a regular or frequently recurring character – no one-shot wonders here. And note this is a list for TV characters, so you won’t see any Captain Jack Sparrow or even the Borg Queen – all of these had to make their big impression on the small screen.

10. Madame Vastra and Jenny,...

'Dallas' finale postmortem: Producer, star talk about losing a Ewing
John Ross
In Dallas’ big season 3 finale, fans were forced to say goodbye to one member of the Ewing family. Specifically, they were forced to watch as Nicolas blew up Christopher’s car … with Christopher inside. But with one Ewing gone, there’s another on the horizon, because John Ross also discovered he has a sister. Needless to say, it was a gasp-worthy end to a season full of twists, turns, sketchy cartel members, and more.

Unfortunately, Jesse Metcalfe wasn’t able to hop on the phone, but the star did issue this statement about his departure from the series: “In classic...

Louis C.K. in Louie (2010)
Review: 'Louie' - 'In the Woods'
Louis C.K. in Louie (2010)
A review of tonight's "Louie" coming up just as soon as I fart for science... "In the Woods" puts the various arcs of season 4 on hold for an epic-length (without commercials, the "episode" runs 66-plus minutes) flashback to Louie's adolescence, as catching Lily smoking pot reminds him of one of the dumbest episodes of his life. Louis C.K. grew up in the era of the "After School Special," well-meaning but often unintentionally hilarious stories trying to warn kids away from drugs, drinking and all the other tomfoolery teenagers get up to. (Here's an excerpt from "Stoned," produced the year before "In the Woods" is set, starring Scott Baio as a straight-laced student whose life falls apart after he experiments with the marijuana.) And though C.K. has much greater command of tone — and respect for his audience's intelligence — than the makers of those specials did, there's always a danger...

Can Tom Hanks rescue Walt Disney from Saving Mr Banks?
The actor delivers another charmer, but this story about Mary Poppins is more atrocious than supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

"Uneasy wedlock". That's how Pl Travers, the creator of Mary Poppins, described the two weeks she spent on the Disney lot in Burbank in 1961, during which Walt Disney attempted to prize the screen rights to her beloved creation from her vice-like grip. Those two weeks have now become a movie, Saving Mr Banks, which is directed by John Lee Hancock, starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks, and brought to us by none other than Walt Disney Studios, which threw open their lot for filming, relaxed their hawk-like copyright control to allow songs from the original movie, and dug up a small woodland mammal last seen cavorting through Sleeping Beauty's forest, which clings to Emma Thompson's head throughout the entirety of the new film.

Ah, actually I'm told it's a wig. My mistake.

'Dallas': Julie Gonzalo on Pamela's surprise wedding (and return to Southfork?)
It takes a lot to shock Dallas fans, but seeing Pamela Barnes (Julie Gonzalo) and John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson) wed in Vegas this week — binding them and their respective shares in Barnes Global and Ewing Energies — did it. “I was sitting on a comfortable couch, and I was reading the episode,” Gonzalo says, “and I literally yelled, ‘What? They’re marrying them already? No way!’ At first, I was like, ‘That’s so soon,’ but now I’m like, ‘That’s awesome. They’re brilliant.’ They’re a great duo and really complement each other. I don’t think...

Dallas Star Weighs In on the Finale's Big Reveal: 'I Get to Play a Whole Different Character!'
The following contains spoilers from the Dallas season finale.

TNT’s trip back to Dallas wrapped its freshman run on Wednesday night by dropping a bombshell that some saw coming, yet nonetheless foretells much more family feuding in the season(s) to come.

As the season-ending hour unspooled, Christopher’s estranged wife Rebecca (played by Julie Gonzalo) cleaned up the literal mess she made by putting a bullet through her “brother” Tommy, in self-defense — and with more than a little help from an unseen benefactor whom she speed-dialed the instant blood was spilled.

But no sooner had Tommy’s body...
