Amazing!! Extra ordinary!!

Amazing !!! Extra ordinary!! Saw the film just 2 days back. What a great script and direction,as it make you feel not watching a film at all.Instead,it provides you an opportunity to taste a slice of life, that is pure to 100%.

After watching this film I have become more tough to be defeated.I am more optimistic.More confident. And I am sure that if a film can do things like that to a viewer,it is surely a piece of a gem of an art.'Athmakadha' is an experience which should be experienced to realize how bold you are within yourself. This film takes you to the horizons of positive attitude by helping you to believe in you.Hats off to the director!

A great message - Face Challenges, be content

This is a Malayalam language film starring the talented actor, doctor, writer Sreenivasan. The film is on the theme of blindness. The topic is sensitively handled by debutant director Premlal.

The protagonist Kochu baby - although blind - is self reliant and content. So much so that he falls in love with another blind woman and they start a family. He loses her to an accident but they have a girl child before that. He brings up the girl only for tragedy to strike when the girl is diagnosed to lose her eyesight in a few days.

How Kochu Baby motivates his daughter to see life in a positive light, withstand it's challenges, and come out smiling is the key message of the film.

Sreenivasan is good, Sharbani looks heavenly, but Jagathy Sreekumar stands out in his supporting role as the Church priest who supports the family in times of need.

Shalu Kurien plays really well as the bubbly daughter who gets to the verge of suicide only to fight back. It's a surprise she didn't get a lot of opportunities to perform after this.

The film won a lot of awards and - albeit slow at times - is a recommended watch.

A Movie worth the Oscar's from India

What makes Shaw shank Redemption the best movie on IMDb ? The same makes Athmakatha an equally or even better movie. This is truly a gem of a movie from Premlal (debutant director). How to instill hopes and courage to a daughter who gets to know she is soon going to be blind like her mother who passed away and her dad who has been taking care of her since then? How does the father show her the right path. Spell bound script and tight performances from Sreenivasan (blind father) and Shafna (daughter). There is not even a single scene in the movie that is clichéd or stereotyped. I give a standing ovation to PremLal for giving us a Masterpiece. The movie would have won all the Oscar's and other major awards had it been a western movie. I truly hope more and more people get a chance to watch the classic

A great way of story telling - Appreciates the director

What a beautiful way does the director says the story. Every element of the movie went beautiful and got a beautiful flow in it. The Candle factory, the concept how the blind is guiding the non-blinded, the beginning and the end of the movie, everything went beautiful. But i'm sad that it doesn't got an award, a national or at least a state award. Yea, i can see that, our juries are blind just as Kunhu or Lilli.. :( and even the audience of malayalam industry who made "Pokkiri Raja" a super hit and these movies down (in commercial aspects).

100 out of 100 marks from me. Thanks for such a movie, and waiting for the next from you, Premlal.
