FX’s Alien: Earth drops a chilling episode 6 trailer that jumps back to the present-day timeline in Neverland, where chaos stirs inside Prodigy’s underground lab and new threats emerge.
Alien: Earth — A new kind of Xenomorph
Wendy (Sydney Chandler) continues to engage with the chestburster she charmed in episode 4. The creature now has arms and legs — not yet a fully grown Xenomorph, but no longer a baby — “a teen‑omorph, if you will,” as described by Polygon.
Hybrids, a “glitch,” and mounting risks
Elsewhere in the footage, Joe (Alex Lawther) asks if Wendy is safe. Prodigy’s robotic caretaker, Dame Silvia, admits she’s found “a glitch.” The trailer...

With its fourth episode, “Observation,” Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth cements its place as not only a fascinating and enriching entry into the overarching Alien saga, but also as a terrifically compelling work of science fiction in its own right.
If the first two episodes of the series, “Neverland” and “Mr. October,” were Hawley and co. establishing a foundation that utilized the form, aesthetics, and craft of the original 1979 Alien film, and the third episode, “Metamorphosis,” was them articulately evolving away from the expected template of the franchise, then “Observation” is that new form put on display for all to see. If Noah Hawley had listened to Ridley Scott’s advice, Alien: Earth’s pilot episode, Neverland, might have been very different from its current release. To all Alien connoisseurs, Scott’s original vision for his 1979 film, Alien, was to kill Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and let the Xenomorph mimic her voice while en route to Earth.
This concept did not sit well with Hawley, so he decided to drop it and go with the original plan that he had in his creative mind. Moreover, there are many instances where the first TV show of the franchise did not incorporate its futuristic and forward storyline.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for “Alien: Earth” Episodes 1-2.
Of all the big, ambitious swings that “Alien: Earth” takes, none are riskier than the parallels that showrunner Noah Hawley chooses to draw between his new sci-fi series and “Peter Pan.” The FX drama makes multiple references to both the original “Peter Pan” story and its 1953, animated Disney adaptation. That will likely come as a surprise to viewers, especially those who are well-versed in the “Alien” franchise‘s past entries and its usual, grungy vibes.
There is a clear, important reason for almost every “Peter Pan” Easter egg in the two-part “Alien: Earth” premiere, though. Here is a guide to all of them.
David Rysdahl and Essie Davis in “Alien: Earth” (Patrick Brown/FX) Welcome to Neverland
Not only is the first episode of “Alien: Earth” titled “Neverland,” but that is also the name of the island facility where much of the show takes place.

Hawley’s Philosophical Debate.
When it was announced that Noah Hawley was working on an Alien series set on Earth for FX & Disney, there was equal parts skepticism and confusion. What had attracted the creator of Legion and Fargo to the property? And what would such a series look like: Alien vs Predator: Requiem?
These are the questions that Trace and I are dissecting episode by episode on the Horror Queers Patreon each week starting today with a look at episodes 1-2, “Neverland” and “Mr. October.”
With its two-part premiere, Alien: Earth has offered us an answer…or at least the start of one. Both episodes were written by Hawley (who also directs “Neverland”) and serve to introduce a world only 95 years in the future. Despite the storytelling potential of exploring a new timeline, the showrunner keeps the world building tightly focused on the events of the Uscss Maginot crash and the “Neverland” Research Island.

Alien: Earth dropped its first two episodes, and the moment I heard those quirky needle drops towards the end, believe me when I say, I was literally taken aback! Alien: Earth Episode 1 ends with Black Sabbath’s The Mob Rules over the closing credits, while Alien: Earth Episode 2 subs in Stinkfist by Tool. And it’s said that more such soundtracks will be unveiled in the later episodes that are going to make you dance (maybe!).
The Hulu show’s creator, Noah Hawley, too, explained that it wasn’t part of his plan to incorporate any sort of rock ‘n’ roll music, but it naturally occurred to him as things unfurled during the editing process. Therefore, let’s dive into Hawley’s world of thought processes and why these songs made it to the television screens.

Only the first two episodes of Hulu’s Alien: Earth have dropped so far, but the soundtrack is already making waves. Both episodes feature needle drops, a first for the franchise, and fans are loving the change. Even better, creator Noah Hawley has confirmed this will continue throughout the series, with each episode set to close on a rock ’n’ roll needle drop.
Alien: Earth, a prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien, is set two decades before the events of the 1979 movie. The show explores what would’ve happened if a Weyland-Yutani research vessel had crashed on Earth. Those who’ve watched the first two Alien: Earth episodes must’ve noticed that while Episode 1, Neverland, ends with Black Sabbath’s The Mob Rules, Episode 2, Mr. October, closes with Tool’s Stinkfist.
The fact that both of these are rock songs is no coincidence. Instead, it is a conscious decision that Hawley made.

Alien: Earth has finally landed, delivering a bold new chapter in Ridley Scott‘s Xenomorph saga, which began in 1979 with his groundbreaking sci-fi thriller Alien. Set two years before the events of the original film, the eight-episode series marks the first time in franchise history that the acid-blooded abominations have invaded Earth. Expanding the ever-growing Alien universe with fresh layers of depth and nuance, the first two episodes — “Neverland” and “Mr. October”— are packed with references, Easter eggs, and subtle callbacks to previous films, along with clever nods to other corners of pop culture. Here are a few we thought you should know about. The opening titles start in a familiar ping. The very first sound you hear in the titles is a small ping, which may ring familiar to any Alien fan. After the main titles aboard the Nostromo in the 1979 classic film, as the camera pans over the sleeping bodies of the crew,...

Hulu has revived the chilling sci-fi horror of the Alien film franchise with its first TV series installment, Alien: Earth. The show premiered with the first two episodes on August 12, 2025, and gave fans plenty to look forward to, especially with that cliffhanger ending of Episode 2, “Mr. October“.
Episode 3 is scheduled for release on Hulu and FX on August 19, 2025, at 8 Pm Et. Will Wendy (Sydney Chandler) be able to save Hermit (Alex Lawther) from becoming a Xenomorph’s victim? The only way to find out is to wait for the release of Episode 3.
In Episode 2, “Mr. October“, synthetic Wendy reunites with her human brother, Hermit. Despite his initial doubts about his sister being alive, Hermit is convinced that the synthetic is actually Wendy after she answers questions only she was supposed to know.
Wendy, Hermit, and Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) discover several eggs, and Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant) asks them to stay on guard until the hazmat arrives.

The Xenomorph is finally on board!
Alien: Earth dropped its pilot, ‘Neverland,’ and the second episode, ‘Mr. October,’ and honestly, the endings scream louder than you think. Even the reviews are impressive. However, the major question that lingers around the two episodes is, why did Morrow feel the need to crash the Mothership, and did Joe survive the attack? While Morrow’s fate is connected to his loyalty to Weyland-Yutani because of which he prioritized the alien cargo over his team, Joe’s fate is up in the air as he becomes the target of a Xenomorph attack at the end of Episode 2, with no definite proof of his demise as of yet.

Noah Hawley’s new science-fiction/horror series, Alien: Earth, is a bold addition to both Hawley’s own catalogue but also the iconic franchise as a whole.

Alien is a coveted franchise that spans horror, science fiction, and action that’s set an impossibly high standard for killer extraterrestrial stories that’s been difficult to top nearly five decades later. Alien has had its highs and lows over the years, but it always proves to be a versatile property that audiences want to give the benefit of the doubt. Alien never became damaged goods, but the franchise was dormant for seven years until Fede Álvarez’s recent Alien: Romulus. Alien’s prolonged absence – combined with the Predator franchise’s recent creative renaissance – raises the larger question of what people want out of Alien and what the franchise means to audiences. Modern Alien films’ inability to give every fan what they want highlights the idea that Alien is perhaps at its strongest when it’s distilled to a memory that’s a grounding device for the audience that...

“Fargo” and “Legion” series creator Noah Hawley pens a new chapter in the “Alien” franchise, bringing the seminal science fiction series to Earth – and to television – in FX’s “Alien: Earth.” Set before the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 “Alien,” the sci-fi classic that launched the long-running franchise, “Alien: Earth” promises a corporate hellscape where a ship comes crash-landing with a handful of nightmarish alien species on board.
That includes the iconic “Alien” creature, the Xenomorph, of course, but it also includes several brand-new creature creations concocted just for the series. We’ll have to wait to meet them all as “Alien: Earth” rolls out its episodes week-to-week.

The Alien franchise has always been deceptively auteur-driven. For as much as it is undeniably a monumental work of science fiction that has been franchised across the decades and turned into an established intellectual property in its own right, each installment has been singularly driven by the inspirations, aspirations, and ambitions of its own respective filmmaker.
The original 1979 film, Alien, is full of the kinds of heady themes and thoughtful craft that would come to define Ridley Scott’s work over the ensuing years. The 1986 sequel, Aliens, is about as James Cameron as a film can possibly be, full of bombastic military action and raucously satisfying storytelling. Even Alien 3, whose production has been publicly bemoaned by its director for decades now, is a potent encapsulation of the kinds of somber and harrowing tales of morality that David Fincher has made a career out of crafting.

In 2011, ABC created something magical with Once Upon a Time. It blended beloved fairytales and real-world storylines, and the fans loved it.
It began with two worlds: Storybrooke, Maine, and the fairytale realm, which expanded throughout the series into multiple fairytale realms, including Neverland, Camelot, and Oz.
The premise seemed simple. Young Henry Mills brought his birth mother, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), to Storybrooke to break a curse and believe in fairy tales, including those of his adoptive mother, who had once been the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla).
Regina and Emma will contemplate whether the alternate world is better. (ABC/Jack Rowand)
Simple, right?
Not so much, especially when Emma’s parents turned out to be Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas).

Glance at the list of top contenders for the nonfiction special this Emmy season and you’ll find some big musical talent: Bruce Springsteen. Celine Dion. John Williams. The Beatles.
Yet far from a thrilling foray into the modern canon, these Rock and Roll Hall of Fame excursions suggest a world in which nonfiction TV has become an exercise in brand management, say documentary leaders, marginalizing robust storytelling and journalism.
The Emmys documentary special once covered a wide range of social topics. Beginning some 25 years ago, it included the stories of Vietnam POWs and prison cover-ups, child beauty-pageant contestants and racial inequities. But in recent years this has morphed. In 2024, four of the five nominees were authorized celebrity biographies. The year before? The same.
Don’t count on much changing this season: Artist-friendly music docs flood the space.

Forget everything you thought you knew about Neverland. Altitude has announced the release of Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare on DVD, Blu-ray and digital platforms across the UK and Ireland from 28 April. The latest terrifying entry from the growing Twisted Childhood Universe reimagines J. M. Barrie’s iconic boy who never grew up as a menacing, blood-soaked predator, with no hint of the magic or innocence audiences once knew.
Directed and written by Scott Chambers, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare continues the macabre tradition established by the success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. This time it is Wendy Darling who steps into the spotlight, determined to rescue her brother Michael after he is abducted by Peter Pan himself. However, the Neverland they are drawn into is a far cry from the whimsical adventures of children’s books. Here, pixie dust is swapped for hard drugs, and the legendary Tinker Bell...

The Tribeca Film Fest 2025, presented by Okx, announced its short film lineup today, which includes narrative, animation, documentary shorts as well as music videos. Among them is the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s “Neverland,“ featuring an impressive cast & crew.
The eleven-minute horror-centric music video follows “a 200 year old vampire takes his newly initiated love on her first feed.”
“Neverland” stars performer Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow (X), Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes (Saw), and Brandon Scott (Descendent). That’s one hell of a lineup and marks the on-screen reunion between Mescudi and Snow, his X co-star.
The X connections don’t stop there, either; “Neverland” is helmed by director Ti West, who co-wrote the script for the music video with Mescudi. As if the horror pedigree isn’t already impressive enough, the music video was produced by Monkeypaw Productions, with Jordan Peele serving as executive producer.

A recently shared photo on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, captured a staggering scene at Tokyo DisneySea, involving a massive, tightly packed crowd swarming the park’s entrance. The crowds were so dense that the bodies seemed to merge into a single, moving organism.
But it wasn’t just the overflowing gates that caught social media’s attention. Another guest posted from inside the park, revealing that wait times for counter-service dining, not attractions or character greetings, had ballooned to over 75 minutes. The isekai genre in anime has gained massive traction in recent years, with light novels and manga getting more and more attuned to it. There is a certain appeal that lies in a character being seen in a different world with completely different norms and features.
Sung Jinwoo | Credit: A-1 Pictures
Many assume isekai is exclusive to anime, but the truth is, the term might be Japanese, but it only talks about another world. Isekai in anime might be a limitation, but without knowing it, even a person who claims they haven’t watched any isekai anime has probably had contact with it.
Isekai: More than just an anime trope
Isekai means ‘another world,’ and that definition gives it a wide ambit that includes within it the world-hopping adventures that have been part of storytelling for centuries.

Although Disney films are family-friendly adventures made with children in mind, they often include tragic elements that have become synonymous with their films. Bambi (1942), The Lion King (1994), The Fox and the Hound (1981) and Dumbo (1941), for example, show children losing their parents, while sometimes the parents have already died before the narrative even begins.

While these Disney movies have a penchant for tugging on the heartstrings, others contain minimal sad scenes and opt to focus on more comedic or heartwarming elements instead.
