Netflix's latest release, The Electric State, has all the qualities of a major blockbuster. It comes from a big studio, it has a stellar cast and critically acclaimed directors, and, despite the studio's reluctance for theatrical releases, it has a major budget.

However, The Electric State debuted with one of the worst ratings of the year. The sci-fi film debuted with an abysmal score of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, a number that slightly increased to 14%, still a major disappointment. Following its official release on the platform, the audience score couldn't be more different, as it's over five times better than the critics' score.

The comic book action outing, which stars Kick-Ass and Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Marvel antihero, caused yet another divide between critics and audiences at the time, with the latter crowd no doubt excited to be able to stream Kraven at home.

Kraven the Hunter will be available to stream on Netflix in the United States on March 13, 2025, according to What’s on Netflix. Directed by J. C. Chandor from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk, Kraven the Hunter tells the origin of the Marvel character, much like Venom before it. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for "The Amazing Spider-Man" #15 back in 1964, Kraven the Hunter follows the title character on a violent vendetta.

Tom Hardy's final appearance as Venom has become a hit on Netflix. Venom: The Last Dance ended the popular trilogy as a box office hit last fall, and is now crawling up the charts on Netflix, debuting at number one or in the Top 10 on the Netflix charts.

The Venom trilogy may not be remembered as being a hit with critics, but fans sure loved it. All three films have earned a worldwide total of nearly $1.8 billion since the first film opened in 2018. After years of delays, filming for the Sony movie finally commenced in 2022 in Europe. Kraven the Hunter seems to be the final film in Sony's live-action slate of upcoming Marvel movies centered on the origin stories of Spider-Man villains, which include the Venom trilogy, starring Tom Hardy in the titular role, Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the Living Vampire, and Dakota Johnson's Madame Web.

Acclaimed director Park Chan-wook has begun work on his latest movie, it’s been announced. Called I Can’t Help It, it’s based on The Ax – one of the later novels by prolific novelist Donald E Westlake.
