Quotes

Un havre de paix

Edit
  • Jo: To the woman my husband loves: If you're reading this, then it must be true, he loves you without a shadow of a doubt or else he wouldn't have given this to you. I can only hope that you feel the same way about him that he does about you. I wanted to write this letter because I wanted you to know one very important thing: I'm so glad he's found you. I only wish I could be there somehow to meet you, and maybe in some ways I am. Outside of my husband and my two beautiful children, you are the most important person in the world to me because I am gone and they are yours now. You need to take care of them: make them laugh, hold them when they cry, stand up for them, and teach them wrong from right. The thought of you gives me hope; hope that Alex remembers what it feels like to be young and in love, hope that Josh finds someone to fish with again, hope that Lexie has someone to help her on her wedding day. I hope that one day my family will be whole again. And most of all hope that somehow I'm there with all of you, watching over all of you.
  • Alex: I'm so sorry... just please... stay. Just tell me the truth, just tell me what happened. I don't care, I'm not going to let him hurt you anymore. Listen to me, I'm in love with you. If you stay I promise there's no safer place in the world than with me. You don't have to be scared... I love you... please stay.
  • Jo: Promise me something, Katie: you'll take a lot of pictures and only regret the ones that you didn't take.
  • Jo: And to think it all started with a bike.
  • Katie: I thought you said that was him being Southern.
  • Jo: That was him making a move.
  • Jo: It's a bike, not a kidney.
  • Jo: The good thing, Katie, is that life is full of second chances.
  • Katie: So you're really leaving, then, huh?
  • Jo: Yeah, I think we both know that it's time for me to go.
  • Roger: When did we start selling paint?
  • Alex: Today.
  • Alex: You actually catch this?
  • Katie: I speared it.
  • Alex: You gigged it?
  • Katie: I gigged it? I gigged it.
  • Lexie: Whatcha paintin'?
  • Katie: My floor!
  • Lexie: Floor? Usually people don't paint floors!
  • Katie: Does is get better... with time?
  • Alex: Yeah... yeah... At first I tried to avoid every place we went together. I tried to put it behind me. I tried to... step forward. But it just didn't work. And I realized if I'm not thinking about her, then who is? She didn't deserve that. She was an amazing woman and I loved her, and I want my children to know that.
  • Jo: Good, you can keep me from peeking inside neighbors windows, it's a bad habit of mine.
  • Alex: Did you forget something?
  • Lexie: You forgot your bike!
  • Roger: Well, the weather report's wrong.
  • Alex: They have instruments for this: thermometers, barometer, tons of other crap. You have an arthritic knee.
  • Jo: It's a beautiful day, isn't it? Look at how the light shines through the trees.
  • Alex: Grab a book!
  • Lexie: Yeah, they're really good books.
  • Alex: How do you know? You didn't read any of them.
  • Jo: Katie...
  • Katie: Hey, look, I just wanted to apologize for what i said...
  • Jo: He's here.
  • Katie: Who's here?
  • Jo: You know who.
  • Alex: You know, normally when someone does something nice, you just say 'Thank you.'
  • Katie: At least I know when it's time to leave.
  • Jo: You know, you're right,Katie, but some of us don't have that choice.
  • Katie: Drawing? What are you drawing?
  • Lexie: I don't know yet.
  • Katie: Hmm, looks like a carrot.
  • Lexie: No.
  • Katie: A dragonfly?
  • Lexie: No, it's a flying fish.
  • Josh: Why do you have to take pictures?
  • Alex: I don't know, Josh, maybe 'cause I want to be able to remember this stuff.
  • Katie: Well, you could just say 'thank you.'
  • Alex: Do you like canoeing?
  • Store Customer: I like canoeing.
  • Lexie: Lightbulb, ding!
  • Lexie: I need her to come right now!
  • Alex: So why Southport?
  • Katie: It's like this, a clean empty canvas.
  • Alex: So you're starting over.
  • Jo: I wish I had a good excuse, but I have a curiosity.
  • Maddie: Did you hear what happened to his wife? Cancer. Four years ago.
  • Jo: Katie! See it's not so hard!
  • Katie: Bye, Jo!
  • Tierney: I gave you everything.
  • Tierney: [Pulls a gun] You don't tell me what to do.
  • [last lines]
  • Tierney: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
  • Alex: [on her husband] You can go to the police.
  • Katie: He is the police; he's a detective from Boston. That's how he's able to do this.
  • Police Chief Mulligan: [finding a Wanted For Homicide poster of Katie] She's your goddamn wife!
