Gooische Vrouwen (2011)
Filmmaker co-operative The Vipers Nest rebrands
Gooische Vrouwen (2011)
Exclusive: Co-operative whose alumni include Corin Hardy and Rachel Dargavel rebrands as UK courses company run by former Salt MD Samantha Horley.

UK filmmaker collective The Vipers Nest, whose alumni include Corin Hardy (The Hallow), Kevin Lehane (Grabbers) and Rachel Dargavel (Norfolk), is to relaunch as a training and courses brand under the stewardship of its founder, the former Salt MD Samantha Horley.

The first course, presented in association with cinema app Usheru, will be ‘How Low Can You Go? Swapping Money For Imagination’, a two-day low-budget film course in June presented by consultant and producer Stephen Cleary, whose credits as story consultant include 2014 Sundance and Berlin winner 52 Tuesdays [pictured].

Dutch rebate driving up production
Alex van Warmerdam at an event for Borgman (2013)
Speaking in Rotterdam, Netherlands Film Fund director Doreen Boonekamp has delivered an upbeat assessment of the state of the Dutch film industry.

Boonekamp has also revealed details of how the country’s new cash rebate system, introduced last year, is driving up production levels.

Some €78m was spent on Dutch production last year, a considerable hike on production investment in 2013, which was around €14m less.

Boonekamp said, as a result of the new incentive, “a lot of post production work is going back to the Netherlands”.

The incentive offers a cash rebate of 30% on the eligible Dutch spend.

Since the incentive was launched in June 2014, 51 film projects have received a total of €13.6m from the scheme.

These have included high profile projects such as Mike van Diem’s De Surprise, Alex van Warmerdam’s Schneider vs. Bax, Polish feature Math Sucks, Austrian movie The Night Of A Thousand Hours, and Roel Reiné’s epic seafaring yarn Michiel de Ruyter...

High Point gets Renovation
Carey Fitzgerald’s High Point Films & TV has locked worldwide distribution rights for Dutch thriller Renovation.

Tjitske Reidinga, known for her role as Claire in Endemol’s TV series Gooische Vrouwen, stars as an ambitious plastic surgeon who finds herself drawn into a dangerous world of adultery and extortion by a wealthy former lover.

Adapted from the Saskia Noort’s best-selling novel, Renovation is produced by Gijs van de Westelaken’s Amsterdam-based Column Film.

The pact marks the fourth title High Point has acquired from the company after Deal, 06/05 and Cool.

”Renovation is slick and compelling viewing for audiences looking for edge of the seat thrillers with a sexy twist of glamour,” said Fitzgerald.
